The Miami Sun Hotel

Great stay at budget friendly hotel. The room was clean, simple and newly renovated. The location of the Miami Sun Hotel was right in the middle of downtown so it was easy to walk to Bayside, American Airlines Arena and Bayfront park. I didn't want to spend allot of money and this hotel was exactly what I needed. The Holiday Inn was 2 blocks away and 3 times the price. I am on a tight budget so it was nice to find a decent cheap hotel right in downtown. Staff was friendly and helpful. Will stay again if I'm in Miami.
The price was right. The facility showed signs of recent renovation and care. The staff was helpful and friendly. It was clean. Little noisy at night - the tile floors didn't help. Our bed squeeked and we moved. Still, for the price, I would do it again, because it was not run down and was clean.
They were a lifesafer espcially on costs and helped wheb I had used another service not booking.com to book a low priced hotel (that was on south beach and a hostel which I could not go with) the people at the desk said jokingly do'nt worry you will have your own bathroom (no sharing); lol they were wonderful and put me in a remodeled room. near the subway downtown.
The ongoing remodeling of the hotel is fabulous and yet still keeping it's classic structure. Hotel personnel makes you comfortable and at ease as if knowing them for years. A feeling that is difficult for commercial hotels to accomplish. Environment ranges from the older adults enjoying the beauty of downtown bayside to the hip young basking in the vast restaurants and night life it has to offer. I find it hard to leave but when I do it will remain a hotel favorite.
If you are looking for a cheap hotel in downtown Miami this is the place. Three friends and I stayed here for Ultra Music Festival. The rooms are basic and small, but the staff is super friendly courteous! Would totally recommend this spot for budget savvy 18-30 year olds.
I stay at the Miami Sun occassionally usually for a a couple of weeks at a time and I'm very satisfied. Nobody bothers me, the staff are friendly, and the rooms are comfortable. The other posters must have been hard to please because I have never seen or heard any of the things they describe. The hotel is downtown and with it does bring a few unpleasant people--but that can be said for any major city. Pay triple the price just a couple of blocks away if you want more than a basic hotel.
During a recent convention weekend, Miami prices were driven up astronomically. My South Beach hotel tripled from a previous rate and mediocre properties were charging well in excess of $100. Given some of the reviews, I was hesitant to try the Miami Sun but couldn't resist the $60 rate. I found the accommodations to be acceptable and even stayed two nights. Don't expect much, but the bed was fine, the a/c worked well and it was fairly quiet. Wi-fi worked perfectly in my third floor room. The front desk staff was exceptionally friendly and went out of their way to give advice on attractions and transportation. When you arrive it does have the slight appearance of a transient hotel but once settled in, that impression went away. It is a darker, quieter area of downtown, but is easily accessible to restaurants, shops and on close to major public transit routes. The only huge complaint I have is that the shower was either scalding hot or cold, making for a challenging shower. If you are on a budget and other hotels are significantly pricier, I would recommend the Miami Sun for a very basic choice.
