I bought a kitchen from IKEA for a new apartment unit. At the store (Sunrise/ Miami Area) They recommended Solutions Marble & Granite Inc for the installation of the granite countertop. They insisted at the store to be ready when they come to install it, otherwise you will be charge around $100 dollars as a “fine”. The installing guys came for a first time, and my contractor did not have everything ready. So I was charged, over 200$ because of that. To make things worse, that amount was needed to be paid at the Ikea store, not online, or other methods where accepted. A second time the installation guys came, and apparently my CG (again) left the cabinets 1 inch below the standard level. (I am not trying to excuse my GC, he is the worst I have ever hired). So I assumed the responsibility of paying the “fine” again. But my surprise is that this time where 350$ plus tax= 375$ total. I am almost paying the same on material than in “fines”. I have complaint to the company Stone Solutions Marble & Granite Inc because there is no place (contract, website, other) where you as a client could be aware of what amount you are going to be charged. There is no previous disclosure on those amounts, or a clear explanation of how they are rated, there was just a mental calculation made by the company, of how you, as the client, should indemnified them for they lost of time (install guys, gas, etc.). I called the company complaining, I talked to different very professional people, until I was put in line with Joe (I do not know if he is the owner or the manager) he basically repeated his argument four times effortless in the understanding my complaint, and repeating in many times, without much respect stating my contractor should pay for that. I said to him, that I will deal with my GC but my issue was that I could not understand how come they do not disclose the amount they will charge BEFORE you have the actual invoice in your hands. I almost feel lucky they just charge me 500+$ on this, because according to their mental calculations and depending on their mood, they might charge you with whatever they feel like that day. I am really impressed how a company like IKEA recommends them, in my opinion they have no standards corporate wise. I would never recommend this company to anyone; there are many out there that offer better product at better prices, much better attention and must importantly without all the hassle of “I charge what I feel like” .
