On March 12, 2012, I called several companies to come over and give me an estimate to clean the coils from my a/c unit since it hasn't been done in awhile. The first one that came out "Cool Air USA" nice guy and he told me what's wrong with my unit. My unit was 15 years old, the coils were rusted out and mold has already developed in the unit. He explained that he couldn't guarantee the work of just cleaning the coils because of the possibility of the coils falling apart because it was rusty.. He was very pushy and very persistent and kept insisting that I needed to purchase a unit THAT DAY and have him install the unit immediately.. I explained to him that I don't work that way. I don't like to be rushed into anything and I'd like to continue getting some estimates and weigh my options.. While he was present in front of me, I went to BBB and other sites to check out the reviews of "Cool Air USA" history. It was totally negative and a RED FLAG was placed on this company from BBB. That totally made my antennas go up and I advised the rep from "Cool Air USA" that I would give them a consideration if I wasn't able to obtain a better quote. On March 14, 2012, I met with James Flora, from "AIR ON DEMAND". Really cool laid back young man and I waited until he was done with his inspection to see if he would come up with the same results from the rep of "Cool Air USA". He was very honest and said similar things that the other company's rep stipulated. He mentioned that the unit was old but that he was able to clean it as best as he could in the meantime and that would buy me some time to come up with the money and purchase a new unit in the near future. Never pushy, very wholesome and like I said laid back kind of guy. One thing that stood out with James than from the other company's rep, he was not demanding nor looking for a quick sale. He laid out my options, gave me the green light and took all the time in the world to literally answer all my questions and concerns. He was very informative. In front of James, I checked with BBB and other sites with the reviews on "AIR ON DEMAND". Literally everything was positive. No RED FLAG no where to be seen. This was a major factor that made me make my decision.. Instead of cleaning the unit and hold off until later, save that $300 and invest it in a new unit and not worry about it for another 10 years +. I immediately got a quote from James and cut him a check for half of the quote. On March 19, 2012, literally two business days later, my new unit was installed by James and working just fine. Now that's what I call service. I'm so happy with them that I recommend this company highly for your a/c needs. My family is already looking to call them for their needs.. This is definitely a company you can trust and not worry you're getting ripped off. Thanks again, James. Wendy
They righted the wrong below by refunding $100. The quality of the service is good. Being overcharged for bad service is not a good way to keep repeat customers. A year and a half ago the outside unit of my A/C kept running constantly, so they came out and changed a switch and blew the hoses for $140. Last week I had the same problem, so I called them out again anticpating the same solution and a similar price. They came out and told me that the switch is fine, so they just blew the hoses for $100. The next day, the outside unit kept running, so I had to get them out again since the problem was not fixed. This time only my wife was home and I told her to only pay for the parts they install, if any, since the service should be covered under the warranty of the service from the day before. They finally changed the same switch, like I told them to do in the first place, and charged her another $100 saying that is the cost of the part only. A year and a half ago the same srevice cost $140 and now it is $200 with the part being $100 alone? That means last year they did the same labor for $40, so why does it cost $100 for labor now? Somewhere they clearly lied and ripped me off the second time!
Wonderful Company! I placed a service call and within an hour they dispatched a tech. Joe S. provided the service, with an extraordinary professional attitude, very polite and patiently answering all my questions. He took great care when coming into my home, wearing protective shoe covers to avoid dirtying the floor. I came across them a few years ago. I places an emergency service call, they came over immediately, repairing my outside unit at night and in the rain. Since then I have continued to use their services and recommended them to a number of friends and family with no regrets.. From Alex, to Rafael, Debbie and Joe - The staff at Central Comfort provide great customer service, making the me feel as if my concerns matter.
These people were great! I recently bought a new home that had been forclosed (and you know how that works, prior owners took EVERYTHING). After calling Central Comfort to repair the old unit that was there I was advised that I'd need a new one (not only did they tell me, but the SHOWED ME why). Of course I freaked out because now I'm thinking this will cost me a fortune!! To my surprise they sold me a brand new, top-of-the-line, super energy efficient unit at a super reasonable price! They also got me an FPL rebate that help me with a LOT of the cost of the unit. I researched prices on similar units (after I had already bought it) and found out I TRULY got a VERY GOOD deal! I definitively recommend them!
After numerous of hours researching for an AC company (in Miami it seems you can find one on every corner) I stumbled across Central Comfort (thanx Google reviews). I contacted the company and within two hours I had a Tech knocking on my door. I was impressed with the Techs patience while he explained and pointed out all the issues with my system - mold and dirty coil- and the process of taking care of such issue. I felt the price was reasonable and was happy with the outcome. Hence clean coil and UV light. I would strongly recommend this company. FYI: I had a friend who had the same issue at her home and she was charged double the price by another AC company.
On Sunday at 11pm I called always winter after trying 6 other "24 hr " ac companies. To my amazement they answered and actually sent out a technician out within 2 hrs which is understandable being the time I called. that's what I meant their service technician angel he was the most courteous,professional mechanic I have EVER had the pleasure of dealing with. Within 30 minutes my house was comfortable again and within the hr my house was nice and cold. Ill definatly be seeing them again, twice a year to be exact because of the great maintenance program Angel set me up with. Always winter has a customer FOR LIFE!
Supervisor for this job was very friendly and professional to work with. He spent many hours talking to us and looking at our electrical set-up that we had at our 2 building complex. He was very thorough in his assessment of this job and the overall job went very smoothly. By our choice, they worked for 3 straight weekends to complete the job as we didn't want any down time for our business. We are completely happy with all the work done. They did excellent work...nice workers, neat work, and best of all...no more electrical problems. Final cost was right on estimate and I got more than my money's worth.

Excellent company, I got hung and left to dry with some other company called "Kingdom Air" they lied to me about when they were going to be here and never called and never showed up. Other companies were trying to rip me off with high pricing. I called Central Comfort and they gave me an oppointment, they were punctual and on top of that they were able to get the job done the same night. Their pricing was reasonable and great customer service. My mini split system is cooling great, will recommend this company and will use again!

What Kind of Work is Needed?
Do you need someone to install a completely new HVAC unit? Does your current system need repairs? Do you only require routine maintenance? Once you make a list of the necessary work, you can shop around to collect bids from heating and air companies in your community.
Can Your Family or Friends Recommend a Service?
Your loved ones will most likely give you the best advice regarding technicians that worked for them and which ones to avoid. Ask around when beginning your search. Friends and family could lead you to a reputable contractor. Even if you don't need HVAC help at the moment, you can save the recommended company's contact information for when you do.
Is the HVAC Contractor Licensed in Your State?
Considering the work that may need to be done on your unit, it's best to look for a licensed professional. Do a search or contact your state's heating, air conditioning and refrigeration contractors board to ensure a technician is licensed.
Also, make sure the contractor is registered with your state or city to do the kind or work you require.
Is the Company Insured?
You want the professional you hire to carry insurance. If they don't, you run the risk of paying out of pocket for any damage they might do to your home or commercial building. An HVAC technician not only needs liability coverage for work-related damage, but also coverage to handle any bodily injuries they sustain on the job.
Is the Technician Bonded?
Not all service providers may be bonded, but finding one that is can be crucial for property owners. Ensure the bond is large enough to cover any costs if the technician doesn't complete the project or walks off the job. You don't want to be left with a bill and unfinished work.

The Air Conditioner Won't Turn On
If your unit isn't turning on, check on it outside to make sure the condenser is still running. Ensure it's fully plugged in and that your thermostat is set. Lower the thermostat by a few more degrees than your typical setting. You should hear it power on after doing so. If that doesn't take care of the problem, check your fuse box. You could have a blown fuse or a tripped circuit that's causing the air conditioner to not turn on.
The System isn't Cooling the Air
Is the air conditioner on your thermostat set low, but you aren't feeling cool air? It could be that debris is blocking the condenser. Check on your system outside and remove any tree branches or leaves from around it. Debris can easily obstruct air flow, so make sure the area around your air conditioning unit is clean and trimmed back. Additionally, make sure your filter is clean. A buildup of dirt and dust can cause poor air circulation.
Refrigerant is Leaking
A refrigerant leak not only keeps your air conditioner from running efficiently, it's also harmful to the environment. There are many things that can cause your air conditioner to leak coolant, but the usual culprit is a problem with the evaporator coil or outdoor condenser coil. If you discover any freon coming out of your unit, contact a professional. It could be that you need to obtain a patch or a whole new part to resolve the problem.
The Air Conditioner is Making Noises
Is your unit running loud or making odd noises? To properly diagnose the problem, find out where the noises are coming from. A banging or clanking sound could be due to a loose part. If you hear a hissing sound, it's most likely because of a refrigerant leak and you should contact an HVAC technician as soon as possible.
There are Sensor or Drainage Issues
It's important to keep your air conditioning unit level, because if it's not, you could be faced with a host of problems. If you notice your system is acting inconsistently, the sensor is most likely out of place. Turn off the unit and reach behind its control panel while carefully bending the sensor back into place near the evaporative coil.
If you happen to live in a hot and humid area of the country, you're also bound to face drainage problems with your unit since moisture can trap itself inside the system. Routine maintenance can cut down on drainage issues by cleaning out any mold or algae from blocking the drain. If you notice moldy smells whenever you turn the thermostat down, it's best to check on your system.
To clean your air conditioner drain, first shut off the power to your unit at both the thermostat and the breaker. Then remove the drain pan. If the pan is full of water, soak up the liquid with a few towels or rags or use a wet vacuum. You can use a solution of water and distilled vinegar, or substitute peroxide for the vinegar, to clean out the drain pipe. Let the pipe sit for a while in the solution and then put all the parts back in place. Once you start using your air conditioner on a regular basis, check it periodically to ensure condensation isn't building up.
You can keep your air conditioner running efficiently with some preventative care measures. Here are various steps you can take that will prolong the life of your system and help you save on your energy bills each month. Remember to shut off the power to your AC before cleaning it or performing any of these tasks.
Clean Your Filter
It's always a good idea to clean the AC's filter at least twice a year. It gets dirty and clogged after a few months, it can increase your unit's energy consumption by as much as 15 percent.
Remove Leaves and Twigs
Since many air conditioners are located outside, they could get a lot of debris such as leaves, dirt or sticks in their cages or even in their interiors. After you turn off the power to the unit, use a screwdriver to detach the cage so you can clean the debris from the system.
Clean and Straighten the Fins
To get the best performance from your air system, clean the fins of the unit with either a garden hose or a special spray you can find at your local home improvement store. Use your hose to run a strong stream of water to remove any built-up dust or debris stuck in between the fins. Remember that air flows through these little fins, so if dirt gets caught in them or if a fin is bent, it will reduce the cooling efficiency. Use a butter knife or other knife with a dull end to carefully straighten out any smashed fins.
Keep Your Yard Clean
Not only is it good to rake up leaves to protect your lawn's grass, it's also beneficial for your air conditioner. Rake leaves, cut grass and trim back any tree branches around the unit as a preventative measure. All this yard debris could end up blocking the fins or other parts of the system and cause your AC to use more power to generate cool air in your home.
Cover it Up for Winter
Another precaution you can take to prolong the life of your central air unit is to cover it up during winter. Protect it from ice and snow by putting a sheet of plastic or wood on top of the unit. However, only cover the top and not the whole machine. You don't want to trap moisture that could cause it to rust and you don't want to provide a hiding spot for pests.
Make Sure it's Level
Ensure your system is on a level plane. Over the years, the soil and mat under the unit can shift. If it's not balanced, you run the risk of damaging the inner workings of the unit.
