Overall

This hotel is horrible. They add an extra charge of $34 a day even when you book through somewhere else and they say all resort fees included. Plus watch out for the extra 18% gratuity charge with every order. What a horrible experience for my birthday. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone ever. If you do go make sure your bank account has an extra $300 just for the hotel fees alone.

Great Hotel BUT...

It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at referer.us/8/GoodHotelDeals They usually have some pretty good deals on there!

Great location, but not the service.

Hi there! I've been staying here since 2003 and witnessed their gradual decline. While back they used to be part of Crowne Plaza Resort and I would have rated them one of the best.

Pro's: Location and price. They have excellent access to the beach and steps away from Ocean drive, Lincoln Rd Mall.

Con's: Dirty carpet in hallway and rooms: you can see bleach stains where they tried to get rid off wine/coffee/ketchup stains. No mini fridges in rooms. Last time I stayed (Nov 2007) they had construction work done from 10pm to 4am two floors above me. Help desk was of no help. They put me in tiny queen bed room/no ocean view, when originally I booked king/ocean view. After long wait I got my room, but it had funky smell in one of the corners. Bed sheets once weren't changed - I had to call room service. Ice machines don't work on all floors.

OK, you've been warned ;-) This is like a lottery - gamble and you might win.

Cheers,
- AVB

Royal Palm Resort Dish

Upon arriving the greetings were less than mediocre. Booked this hotel off Expedia after a location snaffu with our other hotel. Totally our fault. Was happy to get the booking and Expedia had it written up as a 4 Star Hotel. Hardly. We got a rate that was exceptable but upon check in noticed there was a $20.00 charge per room per day on top of your rate. The charge covers use of pool, lounge chairs, coffee, paper and internet service. I questioned him and the gentleman said this rate is usual at most Miami hotels. A remark was made by a departing guest, ""Welcome to Miami"", and mentioned he was not pleased with his stay either. Rooms were large, had a great view but the pictures online look nothing like the hotel we stayed in. We had to call the maid in to clean our room better. Also noticed when we checked in, their were people sleeping in the lounge area pass check in and were still there 4 hours later???? To top this off, this is our first day here. Wish us luck with the rest of our stay.....

Worst Hotel Ever!

From the day my boyfriend and I checked in it was horrible. The staff was unfriendly and rude. There was construction going on in the room above us and they were drilling during the early evening. We called the front desk to ask them to stop and they didn't stop for half an hour. Once we called the front desk to ask them a question and no one picked up. The service there is just horrible! The rooms were disgusting and definitely needs renovation. The only thing I liked about the hotel was the pool area although it was small. I will never ever come back to this hotel.

A great place to stay

I have never encountered a more courteous and friendly staff (front desk, porters, housekeepers, doormen, et al) at any hotel; they really made us feel welcome. The front desk staff upgraded us (at no additional cost & because of Priority Club membership) to a full-view room with balcony after we complained that the partial-view room we initially had was not what the website reservation had promised us. The room was clean & nicely appointed. My only complaint would be that they charge a $10 resort fee to use the beach equipment & the pool. If you're going to charge me for it anyway, just roll it into the cost of the room. Don't pitch it to me like I have a choice to decline it. Overall, it's a great hotel with an art deco feel but that isn't as small as one of the art deco hotels on Ocean Drive.

All you need

Royal Palms location on the beach is perfect for anyone. Direct access to the sand, free use of sunbeds, umbrellas and cabanas. No bags, no hassle necessary. Also great service in pool area, w tanks of ice water and sorbets handed out twice a day. All free. Great for children. All pool equipment complimentary after $10 resort fee added to room price. Close also to action at Delano, Ocean Drive and Lincoln Rd. All within 5 min walk. Rooms are new, nice and clean too. Hi speed internet in rooms for fee.

A Really Nice Place

Granted I was somewhat nervous when comparing the prices of adjacent facilities like the Delano and Loews but I was pleasantly surprised by the location, pleasant service staff, beach condition, parking and reception. This is a nice place for singles, couples and families or groups. The room wasn't impeccable (very minor wear and tear) but would I go back? YES... In a New York minute!!!

water please?

Just got back from Sobe, the hotel was so-so, service was ok except for few things. They claim to give you ""unlimited free water by poolside"" while sunbathing or swimming.. but the bartender guy gave my friends and I attitude for asking for iced water! he kept telling me ""there's a fountain over there!"" all day long it was like begging the guy for a glass of iced water. The pools were horrible compaired to the next door pool from ""loews hotel"" They also claim to provide free aloe lotion which they didn't have for 3 days i was there.Sunbath here fine... Swim no, and please be careful when you ask for a glass of water.

Get to the beach, like quick!!

This is your typical hotel/resort. Don't look for Art Deco influences that grace the rest of SoBe. If you want room service, two pools (both with waitstaff), and easy access to the beach, this is the place to be. Suprisingly, kid-friendly and family-friendly (bring the inlaws) as well. Also near Lincoln Mall (2 blocks) and next door to the Loews. Not sure where to stay? Safe bet is the Royal Palm.
