WE WERE ROBBED

On the third day we stayed there, our room was burglarized. They took my roommate?s brand new HP laptop, his Blackberry, his Treo charger, his Bose noise cancelling headphones, and his suitcase. They broke in sometime in the afternoon. I think that it was an inside job because we had expensive electronics lying around in the room for the cleaning staff to see. The Miami police officer who came to take our statements could not confirm this. The worst part about this is that the management was totally unresponsive. The manager of the hotel would not come to speak to us. It took them two days to move me to another (smaller) room even though the door was busted. Two days later the manager showed up at the hotel. However, she only showed up at the hotel because they were robbed again. This time, the robbers broke into numerous rooms and stole the plasma TVs. There were security cameras that should have captured everything. My roommate could have looked at the surveillance and identified who was walking out with his items but the manager didn?t want to have him do that. When I spoke with her (the manager) she wouldn?t even apologize. She rolled her eyes at me instead. If there is any doubt to the truthfulness of this review, please feel free to email me.

Great location and customer service

This was my first time to Florida, and some of the reviews I read before I left got me disenchanted. Claims were made that the people in South Beach, namely employees are rude...NOT THE CASE. I found that everyone from my hotel clerk (Jason), to the staff at the bars and restaurants were all friendly. Back to Jason, from the Penguin Hotel staff. This guy helped me out on everything from restaurant reservations to transportation. This guy went the extra mile. Location was great, right on Ocean Dr. Walking distance to a couple favorite night spots. Rooms were great, not suites by any means, but you only sleep there. The beds were really comfy, and the staff cleaned the rooms everyday with precision. The price was right if you hunt far in advance as I did. All in all, great place to stay, LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!
