my first instinct was to write this review while I was still in the restaurant, sick to my stomach. but I waited until today to calm down and think a bit. But, after being sick all goes. This is not the Deanie's from days gone by, or even the Deanie's from a year or two ago. The food was bland, overcooked, and no taste whatsoever. The biggest disappointment was the onion rings, they used to come out in MOUND, to be observed while the waitress carried the platter through the dining room. Now, it was 6 pitiful rings on a decorative skillet. The grease used to fry the catfish, shrimp ect was so old and overused, all you tasted was GREASE, and continued to taste it well after you left. The worst part was the "crawfish po'boy"...this was the nastiest thing I've ever tasted. The crawfish were from the freezer and tasted rotten...after you chewed them for a while a stale fish taste came over your mouth and caused you to gag. We did send that back and it was taken off the bill, but still...for a restaurant to serve that in the first place was unacceptable. The BBQ shrimp, overcooked and placed in a dish of hot worcestershire sauce...pitiful. I am highly disappointed in Deanie's, this used to be THE GO-TO place for, it's the place you go to if you're suffering severe constipation and want to pay $200 for relief. Never again, there are way too many other seafood places that won't get you sick.

Great! as always the most food you can get for the money. By the way, I think the seasoning is perfect.

The food was great (Half seafood platter, seafood soup and okra combo) but the Hurricane drink was not even a tropical sorm.

Re-heated crawfish

The lady said the crawfish were fresh boiled, when in reality they were reheated and overcooked.

Zero Taste

We recently had dinner at Deannie's.None of the enormous amount of fried seafood we received had a bit of flavor. No salt, pepper, or even lemon. NO TASTE. our bill was well over 300.00 PLUS Tip. Our waitress was nonchalant to every request and question. For the record, everyone does not like coleslaw. Salad should be an option. Everyone carried their food home to "dr up" with ketchup, hot sauce etc. We were so dissapointed. Please do better. Although I can say our party of 18 will not be returning.

Holy cow!! A place to remember!

Great food.... huge portions. Well worth the money and the drive to get there.

Definitely would recommend this place to anyone that likes seafood. It will be a meal to remember, especially if you get the seafood platter.

Service is great......

Ate at deanies resturant when I was in town paid with cash and waitress charged my ticket to the credit card of one of the other people at the table. Charge showed up immediately on the mobile banking called the manager held the money until Thursday which caused overdrafts for that individual. Manager said it was a mistake how do you mistakenly charge $ 104. 00 when you have the cash in your hands. I think it was on purpose. I am totally disappointed and won't eat there again.

My Wife's Mouth was Burned by a Lump of Cayenne

I came from out of town expecting some good seafood at a reasonable price. My wife ordered the Shrimp Po Boy and nearly jumped out of her seat when she began spitting said it felt like her mouth caught on fire. She nearly threw up at the table. We discovered a ball of thick undisolved red Cayenne Pepper. It burned her tougue so badly, it grew extremely red with a tiny cut. She later had a rash in her mouth.

The wait person did bring milk which helped her some. I asked for the manager on duty and after a while a lady whose name I cannot remember showed up and said that sometimes this happens because the batter is not thoroughly mixed and it sometimes has Cayenne balls. Her tone was matter of fact and uncaring. When I reminded her that a restaurant's reputation is important, she agreed to take $3.00 off the bill and marched off.

Any quality restaurent would have comped the sandwich, if not the meal, expressed real concern and apologized. Instead we all felt like we had done something wrong in complaining.

My first and last time there was a very bad experience.

When I lived in Metairie 10 years ago, Deanie's was the best seafood in the area. Am really looking forward to returning, soon.

Great seafood in Metairie

My girlfriend,Debra, and I were in town for a wedding.I was told if I wanted seafood that Deanies was the place. We went downtown first, big mistake, but we finally found the one in Metairie. There was a line but we were glad.Meant there was something people wanted.WE were seated in about 20 to 30 minutes but that was good for the ammount of people waiting. We got to order,I had the 1/2 seafood plate and Debra had a schrimp po-boy.We were both surprized to the ammount of food on our plates.Debra had ordered a cup of gumbo and I didn't.After she got her's I couldnt take the aroma any more,I had to have a taste and it was the best gumbo I ever had.I ordered me a bowl but wish I could have ate it from the pot it was in.I know that Deanies is high on our list of restaurants and we would make a trip from Mobile just to eat seafood there.I have been there only once and know of nothing bad to say about the place.I do know if your looking for good food give Deanie's a try.Glad we did.We will be going back many more times.Glad Debra has relatives all over that area.Thank you for a wonderful meal...Al and Debra
