As someone who has been lucky enough to sample several types of Latin cuisine and lived in Texas for nearly 20 years, I could conservatively say that I am a connoisseur of this type of food. Having said that, 90% of the food at this restaurant is awful. There are some good things, but those bright shining dishes are few and far between. That coupled with the fair service and an imbecilic owner prove that the only thing keeping this place open is the memory of better food. My grandparents, parents and most of my family have been going to this restaurant long before it got new owners and a horrible food makeover. Still to this day, a group of about 15 of us go every few months, but hopefully, today was our last visit. Some ladies had purchased a gift card and not only were they told it wouldn't work and berated by the owner, this "man" continued to walk around the place mumbling obcinities and telling each of his wait staff about how we were crazy. He did NOTHING to remedy an easy problem. His arrogant attitude is sure to sink this business eventually. DO NOT GO HERE.

I've heard good things about this restaurant and to be honest, the margaritas were excellent. I'm a fajita person and so is my father...I had shrimp, he had beef and chicken combo. The onions and peppers were not cooked at all. It was as though they had just been added. The menu says ""caramelized onions"" btw.

Food wise the food was amazing but the service was really bad. We arrived there and they clearly had seats open but the seaters at the front sat there and talked to each other, basically like we weren't even there. We sat at the table and looked off the menus and waited for our waiter. Ten minutes passed and no one addressed us. Then 15 mins passed by and we didn't even give a drink order. After 20 mins my family got frustrated and left. The girls at the front we believe didn't tell anyone they seated us so maybe thats why we never got a waiter. If they can't do their job they shouldn't be working there. We been there a couple times before and their food is the BEST mexican food I ever had. I'm just warning you about the service, if your a impatient person like my father this place is not the place for you.

I always liked Casa Garcia in fact, it's is my favorite Mexican restaurant. My favorite is the Nachos Garcia which is an appetizer that we always get as an entree. The staff is friendly the prices reasonable and service was always good. The atmosphere is casual but nice.
The food is always fresh and the same every time. the best homemade salsa ever with lots of cilantro (my fave!). Chili rellanos are one of our favorite dishes. Can't decide which is more flavorful, the beef or the cheese one. The drinks are always TOPS! Great service, too.

Service & food are just delicious!!!!
My complaint is when attempting to order Sangria in a gallon, and eating in the dining area, they discourage you since it is not as ""pretty"" on the table. When more than 1/2 of our remaining drink was left over, it was placed in a Daisy Sour Cream container, and went bad (sour) the very next day, while the drinks in the large to-go cups lasted for days. The management doesn't seem to believe this... When ordered, and kept in the gallon container that it should be in, will last for days in the refrigerator.

I have eaten at all of the top Mexican restaurants in the Metairie and Westbank area. And I find Casa Garcia along with Carretas (also in Metairie) to be in a virtual tie for the top two spots, whenever it comes to value, service, quality Mexican food and parking. To be fair, I did not try any Margueritas at either place. And I do prefer the more vast choices offered by Carretas on their extensive menu. On a scale of one to ten, I would rate Casa Garcias a solid nine. It is a very good restaurant, and I highly recommend it.
