I used to love this doctor's o...

I used to love this doctor's office but called today to make an appointment and was told they will no longer provide prescription refills during an appointment for another issue. So basically I would have to come in again the next day in a separate appointment solely to get a refill! Since this would result in two copays and two afternoons off work, I made an appointment with another doctor. I am very disappointed and and feel Dr. Bentz has become more interested in making money off her patients than treating them.

The unhelpful,uncaring and inept

The unhelpful, uncaring and inept personnel at this office should rethink their 'professional' career choices - how can anyone turn a quick blood work appointment into an hour ordeal is beyond me. Not having paperwork 'filled out' and having 3 people before me is unacceptable and uncalled for. After signing in and designating appointment type should be systematic and routine - but not here.

I you want to spend your precious time on your day off to sit aimlessly around a poorly run doctor's office - which by the way you don't see the doctor - usually a nurse practitioner - is no way to run a practice. Dr Benz is more concerned and involved in her med spa ( next door) and the money it generates than being involved in the day to day physician job.
Red Mountain Family Medicine was obviously the wrong choice for any long term disease issues that anyone may have.

Find a different provider!

I have been going to Red Mountain Family Medicine for a couple years. I saw a nurse practitioner, Linda Alvarez, there at first. She was personable and knowledgeable. However, she has since left the practice. The doctor that the front desk scheduled me with after Linda's departure was Dr. Andrews. I saw Dr. Andrews because I had just been in a severe auto accident and my neck, back and knees were twisted, bruised and hurting. She spent maybe five minutes with me after I waited a half hour past my appointment time to see her. She checked my reflexes, wrote me scripts for pain killers and muscle relaxers and prepared to exit the exam room. She hadn't even looked me in the eye. I then asked her about a chiropracter or physical therapy. She wrote me an order for physical therapy almost as an after thought and solely because I suggested it, and then the referral she gave me wasn't even in my insurance network. She clearly couldn't care less about her patients and I felt as if I was entirely ignored. For the amount of money Red Mountain bills to see a doctor, I feel that I should be given the attention and respect a paying customer deserves. A little bedside manner would be nice too. I absolutely won't go back to this doctor. I will try another provider in their practice to see if the problem was simply with this doctor. I'm very unimpressed.

Red Mtn Family Medicine

My Dr. at Red Mtn is Dr Andrews. I have not had to wait any time past my appointment and have gotten in early. She is very knowledgable and has great bedside manner. I have not had to wait for blood work. She follows up with a phone call to ensure I didn't get worse. I haven't seen anyone having to wait for the other doctors. I recommend this place to anyone. I recommend Dr Andrews to anyone who wants excellent care.

Do NOT go here!

If you want substandard care then Red Mountain is the place to go! I have been going to this place for almost three years and the service I get has gotten worse every single time. This place cares more about getting money from you then anything else. Each time I go I wait an unreasonable amount of time 45 minutes or longer to get in to see the nurse practitioner. I would love to say the Dr. Bentz sees me since she is supposed to be my doctor but she is a little too busy running her baby the med spa next store to finish what she started in family medicine, but oh wait I am sure there is a lot more money to be made in weight loss procedures and facial rejuvination! After I wait almost an hour to see the NP, I get about 4 minutes of attention and then poof-GONE! So I have to wait, yet I get rushed through every single appointment because they are behind. Then they do tests and then I have to schedule an appointment to go back to get my test results-WHAT! I have been to plenty of doctors that would never dream of doing that. So I am running back and forth for the last 9 months for them to rob me of my money and treat me like garbage. As far as the staff, they are short and snooty and plan on waiting months to get a referral for anything. If you want a real family practice, find one that understand the meaning of SERVICE AND COMPASSION.

Family Medical Care at its best!

This posting is in response to a review we received on this site from ""22cityscene"". I am one of the Nurse Practitioners at Red Mountain Family Medicine and this posting sent shock waves through our office. The things said were so opposite of the qualities that our practice strives to uphold. We had an urgent staff meeting to discuss the issues mentioned.
Since we strive to be the best Family Practice Office we can be, we do appeciate comments and take them very seriously. However, many of the comments in that posting were erroneous. We are well known for our compassion and caring. One of the main reasons we do sometimes (not always) run behind is because we do spend a lot of time with our patients. We always address multiple issues at each visit and spend a lot of time doing patient teaching, even though we do not get reimbursed any more for doing so. We do not have patients make separate appointments to get their test results, unless they are worrisome or too complicated to discuss over the phone. We use a ""medvoice"" system to relay normal test results and the providers call their patients on the abnormals. We had instituted a new policy the first of the year that we would not do ""Complete Physicals"" on new patients. We would address problems just not do PAPs, etc. This policy was changed though after negative feedback we had gotten back after the first few months.
I would like to personally extend an apology for any inconvenience the patient that listed the post experienced. It seems her experiences were quite unusual for our practice and we wish she would have brought them to our office manager's attention immediately so we could have addressed them.
It us true that our lab technician leaves at 5:00pm but we usually have our medical assistants draw labs in that situation, unless it is a test that requires the patient to be fasting. We do this quite often because we are now open on Tuesday and Thursdays nights until 7:00pm.
Again we extend our apoligies.

If you want to be treated like a walking wallet instead of a person

I really have nothing against Dr Bentz or the nurse practioners, however, the office is just a money making machine and there is little regard for the patients.

1) Appointments are scheduled every 15 minutes - so you will always be kept waiting (my last 3 visits I've waited over 45 minutes from appointment time) and you'll always feel rushed.

2) They'll only take care of one thing at a time so you have to make multiple appointments. For example, a new patient requires a visit to get established before any medical service is provided. You have to make an appointment to get tests done and another to get the results. They drag everything out and charge you every time.

3) Charge for cancelled appointment within 24 hours. I guess because their time is so valuable and yet they'll keep patients waiting for an hour to be seen. My last visit was specifically to get tests so I had to make the appointment before 4:30. I was scheduled for 4:15, but by the time I got in to an examination room it was 5:30 and the technicians were gone. Now I have to make another appointment - it was a complete waste of my time. But if I had cancelled the appointment, I'd be charged.

If you want to be treated like a walking wallet instead of a person, you'll probably be perfectly happy. Otherwise, find a doctor who genuinely cares about their patients.
