We'd been waiting for months for this new bakery/sweet shop to open, and to day our wait was over. The open flag was flying and we stopped. We were rewarded. We walked in to a darling shop, decorated like a grandmom's tearoom with a comfy loveseat, club chair, two hutchs, one filled with lovely teacups and saucers, and a large selection of flavored teas and coffees you can purchase by the pound or the half pound. There were chocolate bars that looked decadent, I can't remember the brand, but they will be a future purchase. The other hutch was filled with more tea cups, saucers, a selection of teddy bears, and room for hand crafted chocolate pops that the owner, Bren, makes. By the time we got there, late in the afternoon, she was almost sold out. There were cookies in the case, fresh coffee brewed, but, we were on a mission for the cupcakes. Three flavors were left. We purchased a Belgian Waffle Bacon Maple Syrup, Simple Blueberry, and Cinnamon Strussle. The waffle had buttercream frosting, just the right amount of sweetness, not cloying, perfect. Just enough maple syrup at the bottom, and chewy bacon, smoky, elegant. The blueberries in the muffin were plentiful, flavorful, the muffin itself delicious without being too sweet letting the berries do the singing. We haven't eaten the strussle yet, saving it for dessert tonight. I can't wait to go back for more, to see what other things Bren can whip up.
I am a desert person. It is the best part of a meal and it has to be good. Fusions makes the best chocolate ganache cake that I have had in a long…
