Primary Care
An Optometrist is a healthcare professional who provides primary vision care ranging from sight testing and correction to the diagnosis, treatment, and management of vision changes. While all Optometrists are trained to provide primary care for your eyes, they are focused on optimizing your visual acuity and helping you manage and optimize your vision as it changes throughout your life. An optometrist receives a Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree after completing four years of optometry school, preceded by three years or more years of college. They are licensed to practice optometry, which primarily involves performing eye exams and vision tests, prescribing and dispensing corrective lenses, detecting certain eye abnormalities, and prescribing medications for certain eye diseases.

Glaucoma
Glaucoma, an eye disease that damages the optic nerve, is the second leading cause of blindness in the world. The optic nerve carries information from the eye to the brain, and when the nerve is damaged by glaucoma, you can slowly lose parts of your vision. Often called the “silent thief of sight,” glaucoma often comes with few or no symptoms until noticeable vision loss occurs. While damage to the optic nerve is irreversible, early detection and treatment can slow down its development or keep it from progressing. During a glaucoma evaluation at OPI, our doctors can see and assess your optic nerve, test your peripheral vision, and check your eye pressure. From there, your doctor will determine if additional testing is needed and discuss a potential glaucoma diagnosis.

Dr. Ward is a board-certified Ophthalmologist specializing in comprehensive ophthalmology who has been providing compassionate and quality care for the practice since 1991.
Macular Degeneration
She is a member of the American and Ohio Optometric Association, Macular Degeneration Association, and Ocular Wellness and Nutrition Society. She also volunteers her time to aid in vision screenings and teach kids about the eyes and vision as a guest speaker through the Realeyes program in local schools. Exceptional experience at OPI. Dr Eippert was my surgeon. I went with the PanOptix Lens (corrects distance and near) and couldn’t be happier with my decision. For me...No more glasses. It was like seeing in HD for the first time...amazing!! Diabetic retinopathy is a condition that affects the blood vessels in the retina. The two main types of diabetic retinopathy are nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR), when damaged retinal blood vessels leak fluid and blood, and proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) when new, abnormal blood vessels grow in the retina and lead to scarring and bleeding.

She received her undergraduate degree from Wittenberg University and attended medical school at the Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia.
