The Beer Hunter

Ate out on the patio and had a nice meal with friends. I had my favorite, the monster burger, and it was great as usual. Beer was ice cold and was able to watch the Braves game. We had an apple pie kinda dessert that was really, really good and enough to feed all four of us.

So I have been here twice. The first time I felt the establishment did a decent job. Good food. A little pricey however it's a Sports Bar what do you expect.



The 2nd time started out well. I was there with a friend and his girlfriend grabbing dinner. I ordered Spinach Dip to start. We then ordered drinks from the bar, a rum and coke, cranberry and vodka, and a beer.



The Spinach Dip was good. It came out promptly. Then we ordered a Philly Cheese Steak with onion rings, a Club Sandwich, and my friend's girlfriend ordered a Cobb salad.



The food came out on time and however they forgot my substitution on the onion rings and ranch. Oh well no big deal. Our waiter was great.



Let's get to the 1 Star:



So we get home from The Beer Hunter. Hang out for a bit. We all immediately started getting sick. After an hour or two of being sick, I decided to go to Urgent Care. The doctors reviewed my symptoms and ruled out stomach flu. They asked what I had to eat that day, I replied: Breakfast: Cereal, Lunch: Protein: Shake Dinner: The Beer Hunter. The doctors said 98% sure that I had food poison. They gave me a shot and proceeded to go home.



So Today, I go into the Beer Hunter around 11am to speak to a Manager. I speak with Casey Walters. She asks me to sent down at a table to tell her whats going on. Immediately after I explain what had happen, she looks at me and says "Food Poison doesn't happen for 48 hours. There is no way you got it from here." She continues to say that "there is nothing she can do to help me and she ll take down my information."

Then demands that she keeps the receipts. I tell her that she can make a copy but I am not letting her keep them. She disappears into the back for about 15 mins.



At this point, I am not so happy. If she would of told me here are the procedures and this what I have to do as a manager. I would of been fine. However, she didn't. She was rude and the funny thing is she didn't even apologize for me getting sick. Now the reason, I was calm at first, was for the simple fact that I have worked in the service industry. There is a lot of red tape with Food Poisoning.



Anyways, she comes back from her 15 min "copying" and she says is there anything else I can do. At this point, I am little tick off it took 15 minutes to copy a receipt. So I asked her who her boss was and she replied I don't have one. I asked are they corporately owned or franchised? She replied, I can't answer that. I am like come on, you don't think I am going to call back to speak with another manager? Then out of frustration, I ask where did you get your medical degree to know some much about food poisoning or do you just get that complaint a lot.



Look needless to say, if you want a good sports bar, I would recommend Spelly's in Murrieta or Jersey's in Murrieta. Any place that let's a manager be cynical about food poisoning shouldn't be in business.

Why am I sitting at home an hour and a half after I arrived at the Beer Hunter? The better question is where to start?



The first time we went to the Beer Hunter was a little over a month ago. Food was great, service was great. We thought we had a new favorite restaurant close to home.



Our second visit was a few weeks later. It was a little busier than the first time. We ordered chips and dip for an appetizer and it took over 30 mins to show up. When it did there were only about 10 chips on the plate and the dips were cold. Our meals arrived about 3 minutes not giving us any time to get more chips for the appetizer. The manager visited our table, I told him about the problem just to give them a heads up about the problem and he apologized, discounted the appetizer and encouraged us to come back and give them a second chance, which brings us to today's visit.



We were seated quickly as the place was only about half full. Waiter quickly took our drink order and I asked for an appetizer then. Our drinks came out quickly.... then nothing. I tried flagging down our waiter to let him know we were ready to order but he was too busy texting to look up and see. After 25 minutes our kids were getting antsy from sitting so long, and with no hope for food in sight we decided to leave but couldn't even get anyone to bring us a check to pay for our drinks. After 35 minutes the appetizer arrived and we asked the server who brought it if we could get someone to bring us our check. Another 10 minutes pass, we finish our chips (again only a few chips on the plate) and I finally get up, walk over to the serving station and ask our waiter to come over. He gets to our table and asks if we are ready to order. I was really tempted to stab him in the eye with a fork. We asked for our check and waited another 5 minutes for him to bring it.



In total we were in the restaurant for around an hour and received water, iced tea, some chips and salsa and a $12 bill. We ended up hitting Wendy's on the way home to get food for the kids since it was almost their bed time so we didn't have time to go anywhere else. I'll give one bad experience a pass but two and I'm never going back again. Unfortunate since the food, if you can actually get any, is pretty good.



My recommendation, take the extra time to drive somewhere that you will have an enjoyable experience.
