I ordered a Barry's Special in the drive thru and once I got back to work and started to eat the bbq sandwich, the sandwich did not taste right. I called the location back -- 5259 Poplar Ave. and asked for the manager, once he got on the phone he was extremely rude to me basically telling me he didn't care and he hung up on me.
Being new to Memphis we hadn't heard on Corky's so with a unbiased view when we ate lunch. It's delicious. I don't like dry ribs but dang! I did half wet and half dry. Their potato salad, coleslaw, and macaroni and cheese are fantastic!! Staff is super nice and I recommend that if you want to buy their sauces buy it there. we got all of them for a steal. Two for $4. At the stores they're for sale $6.99.
I grew up in Memphis and went into the military before Corky's had opened. I had not been back to Memphis for over 25 years and had decided if and when I went back I would give them a try. It won't be another 25 years before I return to Memphis, that much is certain. The service was fantastic, the ribs were perfect and the brisket was heavenly. My wife and I gorged out until we thought we were going to die. We then remembered looking over the deserts on the way in and just couldn't say no. We decided to split a piece of the pecan pie and life will never be the same. We have decide all future trips will have to pass through Memphis, one way or another.
Corky s has the best ribs. I m from Louisiana and very time I visit my son in law, we eat at corky s.
