I enrolled my daughter in 2015. The prices and times were great for a working parent. My daughter was initially shy and not potty trained. Within weeks she was potty trained and practically beating me to the door. I could tell that she was being well taken care of. Ms. Yolanda was the director at the time. She ensured there was a curriculum and that the staff actually followed it. My daughter learned so many great things such as numbers, alphabets, basic Spanish, and social skills. There were fundraisers for summer activities and plays throughout the year to increase the children’s self esteem. I witnessnessed the shyness leave and her maturity level increase. Mrs. Mary was her first teacher and she was great! Mrs. Brewer was her Pre K teacher and I couldn’t have been more satisfied with her teaching my child. She was very attentive, passionate, and patient in her teaching. My daughter still mentions her! Mr. Parks is the owner and you can tell when you enter the facility that he takes pride in his establishment and really cares about the children. Mr. Parks was great at listening to any issues I had - not that I had any major ones. I have dropped in since my child graduated from here and I get the same professionalism and attentiveness as I did before. The staff has changed, but overall I would recommend them.

The first time I enter the building I was greeted with a friendly smile as if that person knew me. The staff was friendly and my child became attached to the assistant director instantly, I was amazed. I enrolled my child when he was 6 weeks old and he didn't leave until he graduated to attend kindergarten. He was well-loved and educated while attending and did not want to leave. I love this daycare and would recommend to the world.
I tired to give this daycare a chance overlooking the fact that it sits right here in the HOOD! The teachers at Bright Beginning are loud ratchet and disrespectful. Everytime I go do an unannounced visit the teachers are more interacting with each other than they are with the children. My 1st pop up my baby was sitting by herself on her 2ND week in a corner by herself while the other children play and the teachers engaged in their conversation, my last pop up really cut the cake. As I walked into the daycare around 12 noon I hear the teachers all laughing and talking before I make it to her classroom I hear out of no where my daughters name being called by her teacher Miss.Shun saying " You have to use the restroom again? You getting on my nerves,,then I heard her pause and then carry on saying big,,black,, round... as I heard her I walked into the class and their where five teachers in there and every face read including the loud mouth unprofessional teacher that she has been over heard by me doing the time she was trying to be funny and crack jokes on my baby,, everyone looked speechless. So of course I told her I heard her say my child's name and I knew she was talking to her but she denied it. I immediately filed my report and remove her from that HELL HOLE
Miranda P and the other two positive reviews are definitely from employees of Sonshine. I know this for a fact. Of course your child is going to have a wonderful experience when mom works at the childcare. There is favoritism here towards children who belong to the workers and to the friends of workers. If you ask too many questions about your child's day, then you are perceived as annoying and they start avoiding you. This child care facility is unsafe, unprofessional, and I am sorry that I ever sent my child here. My child has had minor injuries without notes sent home or notifications to me. My child begged me not to leave her there and I thought it was normal, but she is much happier and confident that she doesn't attend Sonshine. I, too asked about the bad reviews and at the time the director brushed it off like no big deal and acted really unprofessional about it. I wish I realized at that time that the bad feelings I felt about this place, were legit. I should have listened to my gut feeling. I will always feel guilty about sending my daughter here.
Our son would come home snotty every day as if they weren't staying on top of things. The turnover is high as mentioned, they ran off the one or two that actually engaged my kid. We witnessed an argument between staff in front of the kids, an argument intense enough that they did not see us standing there. If you have issue with anything going on just suck up it as response is poor, I guess paying parents can kick rocks since they got those guaranteed vouchers coming in for the other kids. Our son used to cry when we pulled up and now he's happy to go to his new day care and we're happy to pay.If you just need an address to for the gov't to send the voucher to while your child is covered by 4 walls and a roof while you go about your day, this is the place for you, otherwise keep looking.
OMG THIS PLACE SUCKS!!!!!!!!!! My child was sick so much at this place. I spent more money on doctor bills 2 and 3 times a month than i did on the actual tuition. My child and co-worker has dealt with Impetigo not once but 2 to 3 times in 2 months. They tried to say my kid didn't get it from their facility my child has never had it before, and never got sick again once we left this place. i used 2 weeks of my vacation from my child being constantly sick at this place. PARENTS BEWARE!!!!!!! The turnover rate is very high and you will be lucky if your child has the same teacher for 6 months. I would send pics of the horrible impetigo my child endured but i do not to show my child's body on the Worldwide Web.
My child attended this facility from October 2014 until July 2015. The women were nothing but kind and sweet to her. Her teachers kept her engaged and routinely sent me home with practice work to assist in preparing her for kindergarten, which she was more than prepared for. I did not have any issues with my daughter repeatedly coming home sick or with rashes as other parents have complained about. Now as to the high turnover rate, I know that the management team ran a tight ship, which anyone who owns a small business must, and as the saying goes one bad apple can ruin a bunch so why wait! I am not employed or related to anyone at the learning center. PS for those concerned with forms of payment..Why don't you all research how much it cost to run a daycare and think about how much you pay for that care, then divide that up by 5. Out of that children must be fed, rent paid, utilities, payroll, insurance, maintenance, equipment, etc. Remember vouchers aren't accepted everywhere
I love there is not a lot of babies in there and the director was very nice and she knew her babies and they love her also my son took a hold to her and I love that!!!!!!
The people who gives this place 5 stars is either an administrator, the owner and/or has never been at an actual professional grade childcare facility before. This place has a very high turnover/ termination rate, which usually means there is a lot of truth behind how the company treats their employees and their customers. The place doesn't have a good ventilation system and sanitation process, which can cause room for illness and plenty of odor (I'm was told by a customer that the kids have caught illnesses from each other a few times). The good news is that it's close to a fire station, so I'll give it a star. Please save your money and time.
This is one of the best centers in 38128 with affordable rates and quality care. We stand on the foundation that everyone wants good care for their family but sometimes can't afford it. We have some if not the lowest rates around. Yale Road is a 3-star facility according to the Department Child Services. We take pride in our business, the families we serve, our staff and our facility. And only hire and retain the best. We want each and every family who walk thru our doors to feel like they belong here. We are highly organized and professional with over fifty years of combined early childhood experience between our administrative staff and our management. We take pride in keeping a very clean facility. People who we employ and keep on have proven time and time again they deserve to be a Yale Road member thru their work ethics, dependability, flexibility, knowledgable, professionalism and by their daily interactions with the children and families we serve. We have been open for over a year and have seen many not 12 employees come and go. You can't make them stay but you can hold them accountable for their actions. Only the ones who stay believe in themselves. The childcare industry is very demanding and challenging. In this line of work only the strong stays. Employees must be able to adhere to our policies and procedures ( employee handbook), actually show up for work, be punctual, be ready to work, be flexible from 6:30-6:30, be a team player. Most importantly, be able to educate our youth by following our curricula and keep our facility clean. Employees who are fly by night workers can't do those things mentioned above. They interview well, have great ideas but show little to no actions, once hired. Therefore, it they don't fit into Yale's program. They must move on. We have had some to quit, some to call-in repeatedly, be a no show when scheduled or think this is simply a baby sitting service that requires seating long periods of time, just to name a few. Yale is a center of learning through explorations, interactions, exposure with qualified, bonified hardworking educators who are lead by competent managers, leaders and an owner, who all collectively have a desire to bring up a generation of scholars. We have an open door policy and welcome the community to our facility to take a tour, ask questions, observe and to see it for yourself. Thank You! The Owner
