You've heard of Corky's and the Neely's now it's time to spotlight a family owned business with superior hospitality, barbeque, and affordable prices. Pollard's BBQ is a hidden gem in Memphis, TN with superior hospitalilty. Everytime you walk in the cashier greets you with a warm smile and friendly greeting. From the door they make you want to know what their all about. Next, you place your order in this modest establishment with only a counter and a couple of chairs to sit and wait. It's carry out only which makes it hard because after you get your order you want to eat it right then and there. Then you get the barbeque, I personally order the BBQ turkey family pack which includes your choice of sides, which I always choose slaw and spaghetti. It's so delicious! Finally you can't beat the prices. They are resonable and you get your money's worth. I highly recommend Pollard's BBQ, it's the hidden gem of the South.
If you like dry ribs or if you have never tried dry ribs you have to come to this place. They are better than any other BBQ place in Memphis when it comes to dry ribs. There are some close competitors for the wet ribs and depending on your taste you may or may not think BBQ-Shop's wet ribs are any better than Neelies or Interstates or Corkies. Once you have tried their dry ribs you will never go back to wet ribs. The atmosphere and the prices can't be beat either. If you don't eat pork don't dispare! They have the best BBQ brisket sandwich in the state. Try it between their Texas toast. You have to try their Cole Slaw. I hate cole slaw and I get a double order every time I come to this place. If you like onion rings you have to get a side with your meal or as an appetizer. You waon't regret it. Forget any diet and come give this Mid-Town restaurant a try. You won't regret it.
The food & service was excellent. However, we were all four very upset when we got the bill. First, the correct change was not rrturrnd. Then we were told that if the bill was less than 50¢. My bill was $15.27, I gave her $20.00, she gave me back $4.00. She rounded my bill off to $16.00. My friends with me received the same rounding off of there bill. No where in your establishment is this procedure posted. This is theft. We travel & eat out a lot. This is the first time we were ever treated like this. Her explanation was she only earned $2.13 per hour, she then offer me back my chsnge. "I don't have enough time to make change to everyone" was her last words.
These guys are AMAZING!! The food was a real crowd pleaser. My contact, John Robilio, was incredibly professional and made sure that every detail of my event was covered. We catered a backyard BBQ for 100 of my friends and family. The catfish and hushpuppies were fried on site, which was an awesome service to make sure that everyone's food was hot. It smelled incredible and really added to the party's experience without my having to lift a finger or even go to the store! I'd definitely hire them again for just about any occassion I'll have come up, from wedding to family dinner, and even a business meeting. I was completely impressed from start to finish.
Out looking for a good BBQ sandwich? Stop here and get a Combo w/ DFFor beans /slaw, along with a 20oz drink. People are friendly, place is clean. Oh by the way the 1/4 lb. hamburgers/onions are grilled and made to order. have it...your way, they are real good as well as the fries. You won't leave hungry ! The service can be slow during lunch hours, as business is busy . Parking in front can be difficult to manuever at times (lunch) , but plenty in back.. (Kenny, the manager, trully appreciates your business) We visit often.
THE best bbq I've ever had from a restaurant! The ribs pull apart effortlessly and the meat just melts in your mouth, as does the pulled sandwich meat. The flavor, seasonings, and proprietary sauce are mellow and not sweet or smokey. The same goes for their baked beans. They, along with other sides, are delicious, too. I've been a customer & fan for decades and the experience has always been consistent. CONS: The bbq spaghetti is...well...nasty, and should just be taken off the menu. The service is a little slow and sometimes impersonable.
We took our little girl to watch the ducks march to the pool in the lobby of the Peabody. Then we headed to The Rendezvous for some great ribs. The dry rub are the best! We Love Memphis style ribs. They are so tender and tasty. The only problem with them is that they will make you hurt your self trying to eat them all. The best thing to do is to eat half of the meal (you wil be full) and take the rest home to eat later. Don't leave the bones either. Our dogs love them. Great place with great service. I'm ready to go again.
I am not a chili fan at all, but I'll always try anything. Since this place claimed it was their specialty, I thought I'd give it a try along with their tamales. Now, the tamales were good, but not really my thing. I think I'm just too used to homemade mexican tamales to appreciate these southern ones. The chili, however, was out of this world! The ambiance of this restaurant was very hip, relaxed, and industrial looking. The service was very friendly. The prices were reasonable as well. Worth checking out!
The Food at Pollards BBQ is something special. The food is absolutely delicious. I have gone back again and again and have never been disappointed. I have tried everyting from Ribs, chopped shoulder, rib tips, smoked sausage, turkey, tamales and those mouth watering homemade cheeseburgers. The baked beans are the best I have tasted outside my own :-). Picking up lunch or dinner at Pollard's is always a special treat!!!
I've been eating at Central BBQ for years. As a native of the BBQ Capital of the Free World, I know my barbecue, and without a doubt, Craig's restaurant is the best in Memphis. The ribs are excellent and the pulled pork sandwiches are to die for. If you're feeling adventurous, grab some of the hot wings or some BBQ nachos, and be sure you don't miss the homemade barbecue chips while you're there. Awesome!
