All it takes is a little preparation to get your car winter-ready and to keep from getting into an icy situation.
It’s time to bring long sleeves and long pants out of storage, prep your home and car, and contact the cool weather home/yard contractors.
Great Garage! To start, I am Very reluctant to let any garage work on my vehicle. I will always try and fix a problem myself before surrendering the job and supervisory duties. Baker Auto has serviced my vehicle twice. At first, I was extremely hesitant to go to a smaller garage for my repairs, but I was satisfied with the repair and service on my first visit. Following my initial experience with Baker, I chose to have the dealership perform the next, unrelated repair on my vehicle. The dealership fixed my problem, and the repair lasted a year and a month. After scheduling an appointment with Baker, I had the same part replaced for half the price and the same amount of time (more below). What is Baker Auto like? Well, Baker Auto is a respectable small business garage with honest experts. Baker stays within the quoted price. The staff are trustworthy and kind (more below). The business has an old-fashion, rural element. The records are handwritten on duplicative invoicing forms. The waiting room feels dated and features a CRT television. The coffee is not endlessly brewed, and the garage location is not on a popular intersection. Although the administrative process and the waiting room have not been renovated, don't be fooled Dean and the entire staff are fully capable to provide a service worth writing a glowing review. My story/car trouble According to the quote by Baker staff, the problem with my vehicle could have been $200 or $600. I diagnosed the potential problem and Dean priced my suggested repair at $200. Dean suggested another potential problem and priced his suggested repair at $600. He went to take a look at the issues and came back to tell me the $600 repair is not necessary. He replaced the part I had suggested for the quoted $200. The repair and service was done with great communication, and I am fully satisfied with my experience.
I highly recommend this shop! My son cracked the block in his 2007 Honda Civic after having the oil changed at a different shop. We had it towed here for repairs. Steve worked with me and had even taken the car in without asking me for anything other than my word before finding a new engine for the car. I came by the next day and gave him a deposit, he had already gotten a replacement engine for the car. We spoke and I left the car in his capable hands. About an hour later Steve called me. I was worried that this would be bad news, but he had the greatest news for me! Before he started, Steve took the time to look up the VIN and found that there was an extended warranty on this car for the engine. Just when you think that there are no honest mechanics left in the world, you run across someone as great as the guys at Complete Auto Service. I have had work done here before and have always been more than satisfied with their service, but they have gone above and beyond my expectations now. I would highly recommend this repair shop. They made my day!
My family has been going to this shop for over 20 years. Nobody has ever worked on our cars except for Scott and his top notch team. They 100% honest 100% of the time. They never try and make extra fixes unless its absolutely necessary. No hidden fees ever. My number one recommendation for new customers is to go in and be a nice person. Don't go in looking for a cheap and quick fix. It's a smaller shop and they tend to get very busy so you need to wait a while for the job to get done but its always done in a timely fashion and its done right the first time. Scott and his guys stand behind their work and always take care of me as well as all my friends I send there. If I could I would give them more stars! Best mechanics ever!
I’m super happy with the service that MBZ-ONE Auto Repair provide. They are always friendly and you can trust that they have your best interests in mind when you take your car to them, they always fully explain any work that needs to be done, you’re in the best hands with Daniel the owner and the team. This visit I called at very short notice and they were able to get me in the next day just before the weekend period for which I’m very grateful. Thank you MBZ-ONE Auto Repair, I highly recommend you guys is very professional and trosworthy the best Auto Repair business that I’ve ever known. Daniel Nogueira .
Glad I found these guys.I am a small used car dealer and mostly sell on Ebay and the Internet world wide.I have had trouble finding a mechanic that would repair myvehicles and get them ready to ship to the buyer with out any problems.Steve and Zack are the guys, honest, reasonible, and they fix it right the first time.I have even sent some localcustomers in when they have a problem and my customers always come away happy.Highly recommend if you are looking for a good shop for your car.I would say they are true mechanics and not just part changers. Thanks Jack
I've brought my truck there several times, never had any issues. Work was done and done well. Yep, I'm a girl and I worry about where I bring my truck, and the dealership is a total rip-off! These guys let me know what needs to be done, how much it will be and when I get my truck back I've never had a problem. I can call them at the last minute and they always try to accomodate me, which is awesome since I'm usually working! If you are wondering where to bring your car/truck for repairs... I definately recommend this shop! ... Jen_14
Best service, best prices in Pompano Beach!Cant say enough about Brothers Auto Care! Lost my brakes one morning. made it safely to a parking lot.Called Triple A for a tow. Was towed less than 5 miles to a" recommended" triple a center. Never had service there before. Estimate was $2400.00! Had a second opinion At Brothers auto Care. Cost of repair plus oil change and tire rotation....less than$400.00. He also washed and waxed it...it has never looked better or run better. My saturn belongs to Tony! Thank you Tony and Staff!
I am so impressed with the capability of this shop. I have taken my Ford F 250 to the dealer 3 times to diagnose my engine problem with no luck in fact I was told I had to live with the problem. EF TIRE and AUTO REPAIR fixed my problem 3000 miles ago and not a problem since. The service was great and fast and the guys took the time to explain where and what they had to do to fix the problem after the diagnosis and before any work was done, not like the dealer $$$.Thank you Pete and Bill ill be back!
I read your recent review regarding your experience with Dr. Stone, I just wanted to drop you a quick note. I had my teeth whitened at Dr. Stanton's office a few weeks ago and at the same time I had Botox. I've always had it done at Dr. Gibstein's office in Miami, he is great however, way too far. I decided to have Dr. Stanton do my Botox after my zoom appt. I have to say he is by far the best, the results are amazing. Sorry if I seem nosy, just wanted to help out a fellow reviewer.
I recently had a great experience at EF Tire. My engine light was on and I didn't know why. I recently moved here from Jacksonville, and after checking this place out on Yelp, I decided they were a good fit. Not only did they fix my problem in under 45 minutes, the price was beyond reasonable. I had great peace of mind leaving this place. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I never felt like I needed a second opinion because I was being taken advantage of. I would highly recommend.
There are more than 700,000 auto service technicians and mechanics in the U.S. Finding the right one to repair a dent in your car door or fix an engine that won't start can be overwhelming, especially when it's an emergency. Review a few important facts about auto repair professionals and what you can do to get the best possible mechanic working on your vehicle's issues for a fair price.
Looking For Reliability
Unlike home repair services that evaluate a property, meet with homeowners and have time to prepare before their physical work begins, auto repair businesses are often asked to make fixes on the spot. If you come into a garage with a tire issue, the expectation is the mechanic will know how to correct that problem quickly.
That is why reliability is so vital when searching for a trusted auto repair shop. It may take going to several different mechanics before you find one you are truly comfortable with. Pose questions to this professional to find out what approach they will take to repair your car or what alternatives are available. Shopping around also gives you the best opportunity to find the cheapest rate or the fastest service, as some garages may be backed up with other vehicles that need repair first.
A recommended way to locate a trustworthy auto repair professional is to seek out customer reviews. Online sites offer honest opinions from real customers who have used a business. Read through this feedback to learn how a business operates and what you can expect if you were to take your vehicle there. Look for reviews about how quick maintenance was completed and if prices were fair. By learning what other people have said about a garage, you can gain a better idea if it's the right place to go when you have a car problem in need of fixing.
It can be difficult to know which automotive problems are serious enough to require expert assistance. A ripped seat cushion or broken radio don't involve safety and will not warrant enough of a problem that going into a garage is required. However, setbacks with brakes, lights and other parts that are vital to the safety of your car's driver and passengers, as well as others on the road, necessitate quick fixes. Many modern automobiles will notify drivers of an issue, in the form of a signal on the dashboard or a noise within the vehicle.
In the event of an accident, even if your vehicle does not appear to have any damage on the outside, it is generally recommended that you see a trusted auto repair professional. Internal damage may have occurred, or an important part may have been knocked out of place. Fixing these issues before driving much further can prevent further vehicle breakdowns in the future. In the case of a serious accident, a body shop can assess the problems and determine the best course of action for repairs, as well as evaluate how much they will cost.
Beyond that, regular checkups are recommended. Tires must be rotated, fluids needs to be replaced and the engine must be evaluated. After driving 25,000 miles, most auto dealers suggest having the vehicle checked out to ensure everything is running smoothly. Taking the car into the auto repair professional you trust will protect you from further problems down the road.
Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop. At the same time, be aware of mechanic scams that can impact your experience.
Preventing Trips To The Professional
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage. By handling these types of tasks on your own, you'll gain a better understanding for how your car operates and save time and money.
Along with understanding how to fix manageable vehicle issues that may arise, taking preventative measures to avoid future problems is a valuable time saver. Many problem-solving best practices are related to the seasons. Your vehicle will be in different conditions in the winter than in the summer, meaning it requires a different type of preparation.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures the vehicle will be exposed to, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check your tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
There is a common worry among many people that auto repair professionals take advantage of the general public. Because so many people are unaware of how to fix the problems in their vehicle, they are nervous of being overcharged by mechanics or worried that the improper work is being done.
While the great majority of professionals in the industry are honest, hard-working people, a few bad apples can ruin everything. You should be extra careful when first visiting a mechanic to guarantee that the price you're charged and maintenance the vehicle receives are fair.
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you are in the shop and your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill.
The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done. That way, you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
By working closely with an auto repair professional and doing some of the tune-up work on your own, you will be less likely to fall for these scams. At the same time, you'll be able to drive out with a clean and healthy vehicle, thanks to the repairs made by a trained professional.
