General Info: The Central Intelligence Agency, also known as CIA, is an independent government organization that provides a range of national security intelligence services to senior policymakers in the United States. The agency handles the collection, correlation and evaluation of information related to national security. It addresses various issues, such as nonproliferation, counterterrorism, arms control intelligence, and international, organized narcotics trafficking and crimes. The Central Intelligence Agency operates the Directorate of Intelligence, Directorate of Science and Technology, Directorate of Support, and National Clandestine Services. The Directorate of Science and Technology creates, develops and operates a variety of technical collection systems. The Central Intelligence Agency also maintains an online library.
