Nice place, and not nearly as crowded as the places on Argyle. I have been coming here weekly (at least) for about two years... BUT........... Today they just lost my business for good! On a whim, I stopped in for some snack food and picked up a bag of veggie chips (Aji "Fabulous"). Every bag on the shelf was marked $1.95. The register scanned at $2.49. I confronted the cashier (a young girl, not the usual guy who always checks me out), and asked me to pay first, signaling that she'd get the manager. While I waited, the manager discussed it with the cashier, went back to the shelf for a while, looked at the bags some more, scratched the price tags with her fingernail, scanned the item again, looked at me and said confidently "it's $2.49" I explained that they have to charge what it is marked... wheat they ALL are marked. She just stated that the price tag is wrong, it's $2.49. And proceeded to just stare at me. I looked around for my usual cashier (who has always been very helpful - including finding specific items many times over), but he was not around. Finally, the manager asked "You don't want?". I just took it anyway, figuring that it is "only $.50" -- but what really upsets me is the principle of the thing, and the sad part is that if this part is that for a mere $.50, any business should not hesitate to fix things for the customer. Not here -- I am completely appalled and offended that this woman basically made me feel like I was wrong! Sorry, you lost my business -- from now on I wait in line on Argyle.

From Business: Banner Wholesale Grocers motto is bringing the Hispanic world to you. The company is a family owned and operated major distributor of Mexican and American product…
The employees here r good & friendly they really go above and beyond for the customers but some of the management is deplorable, they're way too hard on them, they abuse, harass and spy on them unnecessarily which makes them very stressed out but they still manage to give good customer service under the circumstances which is very appreciative. Aside from that the store is pretty neat and the shelves seem to stay fully stocked although a lot of their products dont seem to be on file they have to do alot of price checks so that could use sum improvement also but sum of those managers need to lighten up something needs to be done about that.
I love Jewel as they have low prices for a city grocery store. The biggest problem is that this location is so packed on the weekends and the isles are tiny so you are bumping into people the whole trip. This store is good for: pantry basics inexpensive fresh flowers kosher goods dairy (always have extra stock in the back if it's out on the shelf...just ask!) alcohol red-box (they have two) customer service items (cta passes and such) parking (upstairs lot is huge and never full) sales This Jewel is not good for: produce (especially organic) bread deli stuff
This store has great prices. The deli is great. Across from the deli in the refridgerated section they have a good selection of take it an go deli items for if you are hungry and in a hurry, such as potato salad, tuna salad, macaroni salad, pickled herring and they put them in small containers, which is great for 1 person. They also sell larger containers. I notice that they always have fresh tortillas in front of the deli, probably because this store is busy and they sell fast. Sometimes the tortillas are still warm in the package, so you know they are REALLY fresh.
This is a great place to fing great quality meats and groceries. The chicharones are amazing and fresh. The Chochinita is the best you will find in the city and not greasy at all like at other stores. This is fried pork cooked in a sauce that is not to spicy and has a great taste. The home made chorrizo is not greasy at all, sometimes you need to add oil to it and the best in the city! Love this little joint. Try it you will find yourself going back every weekend the fresh carnitas, chicharones and cochinita!

This tiny little store is in a nice area. But this tiny little store is the a really good grocery store to go. All there fruits and vegetables are fresh. Because they're store is so small everything is fresh. On the weekends they have the best carnitas ever. They are the best in the area. Their meat is always fresh and they cut the meat how ever you want. The staff is very nice. they get you in and out really fast.
Truly it's real treasure island, because they have the treasure of food, anything according to food you will find here anytime, the best thing is that they are always fresh within their food stuff, good quality and healthy meal you will find here, nice helping and honest staff with perfect guidance as well, everyone should try this at-least once,so surely recommended
I love this restaurant because they put everything in the tacos, the burritos, the gorditas, EVERYTHING! It's also a beautiful place to take someone on a date. It might look closed on the outside but inside it's beautiful filled with authentic pieces of mexican art. They give great service, I have never had anything to complain about from any of the times I have gone there.
This is my local jewel/osco. They stay open until midnight. It's clean and the clerks are friendly. Sunday is the best day to go shopping here (it's crowded). If you go on Monday-Wednesday they are out of a lot of advertised specials and you'll have to get rain checks, which is kind of a pain. Other than that I do like this store.
