In response to the review posted about the stuffing box work, it should be noted that this incident occurred roughly five years ago. After non payment we took this customer to court, and the judge ruled in our favor. The customer then appealed. Another judge ruled that he owed the money and required him to pay. He then tried to take it to the state supreme court and was denied. Since then he has continued to post similar comments wherever possible. Zimmerman Marine has been in business for more than 35 years and has a hard earned reputation for honesty and craftsmanship. We now have four locations and service almost 1,000 boats each year. While we regret that this customer was not pleased, two courts of law determined that we provided the proper service at a fair price. Steve Zimmerman, President.
I was held up by Zimmerman Marine! The stuffing box on my boat was running hot and I foolishly thought that Zimmerman could solve the problem. Zimmerman’s incompetent staff bungled this project from beginning to end, first checking out and absolving the engine alignment, and then instead installing a new cutlass bearing. The stuffing box continued to overheat as before. With only the help of Don Casey’s This Old Boat as a guide, and with no prior experience, I performed the necessary engine realignment myself (yes, the engine/propeller shaft was severely misaligned, unbeknownst to Zimmerman, causing the stuffing box to overheat). Avoid this shameless, feckless huckster; he will charge you for work that is unnecessary, and not understand the work that is needed to solve your problem!
