My two dogs have been boarded at Pike Road Kennel for six years, and I am very pleased with the care they receive there. I inspect every time I leave my animal there (or anywhere, for that matter), and I would never leave my animal in a place that is dirty, smelly or cramped. Neither of my dogs have ever lost weight or been anything other than happy and healthy staying there. The facility is not dark and does not smell of urine and feces. I have been inside the kennel many times during the last six years, and it has been clean every time I have been there. The facility is beautiful outside, and it is light and roomy and clean on the inside. My dogs have a very large pen all to themselves (I’d guess about 10' x 5' foot) where they can walk around and not be cramped. They also get to run and play in the grass with the other dogs three times daily. I wouldn’t consider boarding my dogs anywhere other than Pike Road Kennel.

No. Just no. The outside is beautiful and misleading. The kennel is dark and smells of urine and feces. The dogs are crammed together. It looked like an animal shelter. We were told that our dog didn't eat very much while he was there and "may have lost a pound or two." Try ten. He is a big dog, but no dog should lose ten pounds in a four day period. It is unacceptable. They also "bathed" him. I told the individuals who work there that if they didn't want to brush him out (he's very furry) before his bath, NOT to bathe him. He's a lot of work. I get it. Which is why I said if you don't want to do it correctly, don't do it at all. They did it anyway and straight up told me that they didn't brush him out first as it would have taken "too long." Now he has mats all over. He was also not dry when we came to pick him up. The said they would dry him and brush him out "real quick" and that we could come back if we wanted. We wanted. They had him tied to a bench, drying him with very cold air and attacking him with a brush. We told them to stop it and got him the hell out of there. I would not recommend anyone leaving their dog there. It was a sad and very dirty place.

Home Away From Hom

We have 4 loving pets we call our kids - this is their home away from home. We don't worry at all about them when they are with Jimmy and his assistants. We have friends who will drive over 30 miles to board their animals with Pike Road Kennel. It's The 5 * B&B for animals.
