All it takes is a little preparation to get your car winter-ready and to keep from getting into an icy situation.
It’s time to bring long sleeves and long pants out of storage, prep your home and car, and contact the cool weather home/yard contractors.
I would like to Thank Lee Giavasis for all of his help in helping me get the car I have always wanted and was unable to get until now. I had a lease vehicle that I had for two years and didn't like and didn't want. I went to Waikem Ford where Scott Griffiths a friend of mine is the Used Car Manager and asked him to look at my vehicle. I had only put 5,000 miles on my car in two years.. I let him know what I wanted and he called Don McHue at Waikem Hyundai and asked him to find the best salesman he could for me and he did. Lee met me when I pulled in and he came out to greet me. He asked what I was looking for and I showed him a beautiful 2014 Hyundai that I had seen in the lot. He was quick to assure me that if he didn't have one to my liking he would find one for me but I was pretty set on the one there. He checked out my lease vehicle and said he would call me the next day to see what he could do. I was awakened the next morning by a call from Lee and he found a way to get me my Elantra all I had to do was go there and do the paperwork. He kindly showed me all the departments while the paperwork was going through and he took the time to show every function my car had and what it could do. I have to say after being put in a lease vehicle that I didn't like and the fact it took two days in which I had to keep running back and forth I was extremely happy. Now I have a car that I own and one that I Wanted. I was telling Lee about a problem with light coming into the windows and he gave me a card of someone he knew George Zakham of Mobile ExPerts who was able to tint my windows the following day. The tint on my windows look great!!! I have always been given the run around in trying to get a vehicle in the past and this is the first time in my life I was treated with respect and was listened too. Not many salesman go the extra mile and Lee went further for me than that mile and I will be forever grateful to him for everything he has done for me. He still continues to ck in to make sure everything is alright and that I am still loving my Elantra. I took some of his cards on my way out and I have given out quite a few to people I know who are looking for a honest salesman and that would be Lee. If I buy again he is the person I would go to. There is only five stars here but he deserves more!!!! Thank you again Lee for everything!!! Becky Snyder
When I decided to start looking around for options on a newer vehicle, I was a little apprehensive. I had been driving an older car for years, all paid for, and was just beginning to research what I might be interested in. Car buying can be daunting and stressful sometimes, but I knew I'd have to take the first steps eventually. After speaking with several friends and neighbors, I decided to check out Hyundai, and specifically the Elantra. I wasn't looking to buy new, just newer. Then I stopped into Waikem Hyundai to see what options I might have available to me.I met with Bill, the sales manager, and after minutes I was relaxed. He asked all the right questions and allowed me to think about what type of car and payment range I would be comfortable with. Once I settled on the Elantra, he set up a test drive and I knew I had found the car I wanted.Bill then introduced me to Bob Mchue. Bob was instantly personable, courteous and helpful every step of the way. Not only did I buy newer, I decided to go new with the 2016 Elantra! Bob coached me through the entire process of the purchase; never once did I feel pressured or coaxed. After I picked up my car, Bob followed up days later to answer questions I had, and to be sure everything was up to my expectations. Truly a great group of sales and service staff and just plain good people. As someone who has purchased several cars in his life, I would have to rate this as one of the most pleasant and satisfying experiences I've had. I would certainly recommend Waikem Hyundai if you're in the market for a new car! And as for the Elantra? Really great car...I highly recommend a test drive!
I assisted my family member in the purchase of a Legacy Subaru from Rick Spieth. I must say my first introduction to Waikem Subaru by another salesman was not positive because that salesman spoke in language that wasn't factual, accurate, specific, and he was not timely in his promises - therefore I had no trust in his words. It was agreed that if we were going to continue with this purchase I would be able to work the deal out with Rick. This became a wonderful experience. Rick was not only kind, honest, and educated in his speech, his words were trustworthy. Rick would tell me he would obtain certain information and he did so as timely as he promised. Rick made himself available to me not only during work hours but while on his personal holiday. Rick put 100% energy into this transaction and handled the entire deal 'soup to nuts', to use a phrase my Grandma would use. The reputation for car salesman in my experience is lacking but Rick turned that reputation around. He can be an example to his peers. I hope he receives the credit for this sale. It was a pleasure and honor to purchase the 2015 Legacy from Rick. Thank you for all that you did so that my family member is now driving a safe and reliable vehicle. Yours truly.
I was actually dreading the thought of turning in my leased Sonata for two reasons: I loved the car, but I hated the whole car-buying process! Nothing infuriates me more than being pushed by car salesmen to "drive & sign" the same day! I am the type of person that likes to have time to weigh my options, without being pressured into anything. My salesperson, Vaughn West, asked all the right questions. He knew what I liked, what I didn't like, my concerns and then answered all of MY questions. He gave to me my options, positives and negatives to each & made me feel comfortable with my decision. The best part of the experience was the time that he took with me to explain all of the features of my new Sonata. What impresses me most with Vaughn is that the relationship hasn't stopped since I "signed on the dotted line" and he sold yet, another car. He has called to ask if I had any questions on the features of the car, he confirmed with me that he informed the insurance company of the change-over, etc. He is ensuring that I have received the best service possible. I will not dread the end of my lease in three years if I have the opportunity to work with Vaughn.
I just wanted to write a review about the excellent service I received this week at Waikem Hyundai. I'm now leasing a 2014 Sante Fe Sport and just love it. I have never driven a car that has such a smooth ride, that I could afford. I had (2) lease payments left on my 2012 Kia Sorento that I leased from Waikem, and I wanted to get into something smaller. I first spoke with Kent Witters. Kent was very helpful and so willing to listen to what I was looking for. Kent uggested I test drive a Sante Fe Sport so he introduced me to Bob McHue. I was so happy to have Bob as my sales person. He was so patient and kind. He answered all my questions and gave good suggestions and I never felt pressured that I had to buy/lease that night, but with Kent and Bob working with me I left Waikem Hyundai a happy and satisfied customer. I am very happy that I chose Waikem for my car dealership for the 2nd time and I do plan to return to Waikem and Bob McHue in (3) years when my lease is up.
Thank you so much for the great experience I had buying my first new car in close to 20 years. I stopped in to Waikem Hyundai first because I really didn't know what vehicle I wanted. Lee Giavasis was very helpful in showing me the car I thought I might want. When I went back the next time he wasn't available but he had Robin Monticelli help me look. She was awesome and spent a few hours showing me different makes and models. On her suggestion, I finally hit the jackpot with the Kia Soul but I was unable to purchase it for 2 weeks. When I was finally able to buy the car she was not there so Cameron did all the paperwork. They were both so helpful to me and I appreciated the low pressure. I didn't even have to haggle on the price. I went in to talk about buying the car and in 2 hours I was driving it home. I am completely satisfied with the car and the great service I received at Waikem.
I went to Waikem Honda through an internet site called True Car. I bought my car in the Spring of 2014 from Brad Zucherro. I received an excellent, no pressure treatment and would definitely recommend Brad to my friends, family or anyone looking to purchase a new Honda. I had a great experience with Harry for my trade-in and Robby in finance. All said and done Waikem gets an A+ for my sales experience. This review should have taken place sooner but I'm glad I waited. To add to my original review I would like to add that every visit to the dealership for service that I make, I stop over in sales and everyone I dealt with remembers me and talks to me. I feel I made friends there and that means everything. I would like to say a special thank you to Brad and Robby who have always helped with conversation to help me pass the time while I wait. Thanks to all of you, Pat C.
From the time I first contacted Olivia on the web site on a car I had been chasing around the area. I knew that this dealership was different in a good way, as compared to other dealers I have dealt with in the past. Olivia was very professional and got me all the answers to my questions in a timely manner. Don the store manager was welcoming and also very professional and helpful with all my question and made our car purchase very enjoyable. Nick our sales person was very knowledgable with cars and how to make you feel at ease with the dealership and the purchasing process. We traveled four hours for the car I had viewed on the Internet, only to be welcomed and treated like family. I would do it again in a heartbeat! The Waikem family makes you feel apart of their family. Thank you Olivia, Don and especially Nick for a great friendly and warm buying experience.
I have been looking for a green, practical, thrifty, vehicle so I stopped into Waikem's on Fri, 1-30-15, just "for the heck of it". As I was browsing vehicles, Carl approached me and asked if I had questions. I told him my situation and he invited me inside (where it was nice and warm!). He brought a few vehicles to my attention but what caught my eye was the Mitsubishi Mirage. Carl was so helpful in my decision making for the Mirage as he knew the vehicle well. He took me for a test drive and I knew it was for me and that I wanted the car that day. I have been telling everyone about Carl and now I have finally been able to give a review. If you need a vehicle....ask for CARL HOLT!
This is the fifth new car I have purchased over the past 35 years, and I can say that this was the most enjoyable buying experience I have ever experienced. Vaughn West made my buying experience fun and enjoyable and I didn't drive away wondering "what have I done." He also put me in the car that was best for me. I went into the dealership wanting to buy the Sonata, but I ended up driving away with the Elantra and I am really happy with my choice. The Sonata was to much car for me and I think Vaughn knew that because I drove in with a small car. I would recommend my friends and anyone reading these reviews to go see Vaughn West, he is a terrific sales consultant.
There are more than 700,000 auto service technicians and mechanics in the U.S. Finding the right one to repair a dent in your car door or fix an engine that won't start can be overwhelming, especially when it's an emergency. Review a few important facts about auto repair professionals and what you can do to get the best possible mechanic working on your vehicle's issues for a fair price.
Looking For Reliability
Unlike home repair services that evaluate a property, meet with homeowners and have time to prepare before their physical work begins, auto repair businesses are often asked to make fixes on the spot. If you come into a garage with a tire issue, the expectation is the mechanic will know how to correct that problem quickly.
That is why reliability is so vital when searching for a trusted auto repair shop. It may take going to several different mechanics before you find one you are truly comfortable with. Pose questions to this professional to find out what approach they will take to repair your car or what alternatives are available. Shopping around also gives you the best opportunity to find the cheapest rate or the fastest service, as some garages may be backed up with other vehicles that need repair first.
A recommended way to locate a trustworthy auto repair professional is to seek out customer reviews. Online sites offer honest opinions from real customers who have used a business. Read through this feedback to learn how a business operates and what you can expect if you were to take your vehicle there. Look for reviews about how quick maintenance was completed and if prices were fair. By learning what other people have said about a garage, you can gain a better idea if it's the right place to go when you have a car problem in need of fixing.
It can be difficult to know which automotive problems are serious enough to require expert assistance. A ripped seat cushion or broken radio don't involve safety and will not warrant enough of a problem that going into a garage is required. However, setbacks with brakes, lights and other parts that are vital to the safety of your car's driver and passengers, as well as others on the road, necessitate quick fixes. Many modern automobiles will notify drivers of an issue, in the form of a signal on the dashboard or a noise within the vehicle.
In the event of an accident, even if your vehicle does not appear to have any damage on the outside, it is generally recommended that you see a trusted auto repair professional. Internal damage may have occurred, or an important part may have been knocked out of place. Fixing these issues before driving much further can prevent further vehicle breakdowns in the future. In the case of a serious accident, a body shop can assess the problems and determine the best course of action for repairs, as well as evaluate how much they will cost.
Beyond that, regular checkups are recommended. Tires must be rotated, fluids needs to be replaced and the engine must be evaluated. After driving 25,000 miles, most auto dealers suggest having the vehicle checked out to ensure everything is running smoothly. Taking the car into the auto repair professional you trust will protect you from further problems down the road.
Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop. At the same time, be aware of mechanic scams that can impact your experience.
Preventing Trips To The Professional
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage. By handling these types of tasks on your own, you'll gain a better understanding for how your car operates and save time and money.
Along with understanding how to fix manageable vehicle issues that may arise, taking preventative measures to avoid future problems is a valuable time saver. Many problem-solving best practices are related to the seasons. Your vehicle will be in different conditions in the winter than in the summer, meaning it requires a different type of preparation.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures the vehicle will be exposed to, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check your tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
There is a common worry among many people that auto repair professionals take advantage of the general public. Because so many people are unaware of how to fix the problems in their vehicle, they are nervous of being overcharged by mechanics or worried that the improper work is being done.
While the great majority of professionals in the industry are honest, hard-working people, a few bad apples can ruin everything. You should be extra careful when first visiting a mechanic to guarantee that the price you're charged and maintenance the vehicle receives are fair.
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you are in the shop and your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill.
The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done. That way, you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
By working closely with an auto repair professional and doing some of the tune-up work on your own, you will be less likely to fall for these scams. At the same time, you'll be able to drive out with a clean and healthy vehicle, thanks to the repairs made by a trained professional.
