Hospice of North Iowa is a community-based organization that has been serving more than 15 counties in north and south Iowa since 1982. It is certified by Medicare and Medicaid and operates as a subsidiary of Mercy Medical Center and employs more than 120 individuals. It provides a wide range of services, including medical and nursing care, emotional and spiritual counseling, volunteer services and bereavement follow-up. Its greentree camp offers various programs to youth ages 7 to 16 that include chance to gain coping skills and meet others who have experienced the death of a family member. It also offers acute care and symptom management for terminally ill patients, respite services for the caregivers and final care facilities to patient who are unable to remain at home during the last days of life. Hospice of North Iowa has offices in Hampton, Forest City and Charles City, Iowa, and is approved by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations.
