Dr. Abdi E. Ahari is a board certified surgeon with over 10 years of experience, currently practicing as an Attending General Surgeon at Mason City Clinic. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Iowa Health Care. Dr. Ahari first completed an undergraduate degree in Natural Sciences at Rudbeckianska Skolan, followed by his medical degree from the Uppsala University School of Medicine, both located in Sweden. He then came to the US and completed residency training in General Surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. During surgical training he was awarded the Edward Mason Award for excellent patient care. Aside from his training and practice experience, Dr. Ahari remains actively involved in the medical community by attending courses to further his knowledge and giving presentations at local hospitals and society meetings. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of several professional organizations, including the Iowa Medical Society, Swedish Medical Association and the Swedish Society of Medicine.
