Fresh Californian Experience

This steakhouse has views and food to pine over. You can not only enjoy the sumptuous offerings but you can also feel good about your choice. This sets a new, fresh standard for LA dining!

Just Ok

Went to Jer-Ne today for their buffet brunch that is supposed to be so excellent. After we were seated, we were told it is no longer. They only serve brunch off of the menu and have a dessert ""buffet"" if you order the 3 course brunch.

It was a beautiful day and the outside patio dining was lovely, quiet with nice music being piped in.

The service was incredibly slow and pretty bad. We had to make requests several times before our waiter responded, ""May I please have a glass of water"" turned into a 20 minute effort of asking each time we saw anyone.

We had the 3 course brunch which includes unlimited coffee, champagne and orange juice. All of which was excellent.

The first course offers a choice of 5-6 items. Both my food and boyfriend's food was just okay.

It took over an hour after our first course was cleared to bring us our second. We had to ask several times if it was coming.

The second course was less than okay. I had the smoked salmon benedict and the eggs were not drained before being dumped on my salmon and english muffin, so the whole thing was wet and tasted like water. I didn't dare ask for something else as we thought we'd be waiting until dinner time.

The 3rd course was a buffet of different looking desserts. Again, nothing stand out, but some unique items.

This inclusive brunch is $40 per person, but you can also order a la carte.

Great ambiance but terrible service and mediocre food. I don't think we'll be back.

sustainable, five star, local, fine dining, patio seating, valet, celebrity chef, trendy bar, Los An

I?m not sure how often the information on this site is updated so I decided to weigh-in on Jer-ne restaurant located at the Ritz-Carlton Marina Del Rey. According to this site and several others I?ve investigated, Jer-ne serves a rather confusing fusion of East Asian cuisines. Nothing could further from what I saw on the menu last week.

With a new Chef comes change and in Jer-ne?s case the change is extreme and its more than welcome. Chad Minton previously of the Mosaic Bar and Grille in Vancouver British Columbia has put a local, sustainable and all-natural stamp on the simple yet inspired menus at the restaurant. Minton is quoted as describing his cuisine as ?sophisticated not complicated? and that?s evident from the menu?s sparse almost cryptic descriptions to its simple yet delicious combinations.

Take for example the tomato salad dressed in extra virgin olive oil, minus 8 vinegar (it?s a Canadian thing) Buratta Mozzarella, micro basil and course salt. The salad is presented without fuss and I never got the feeling that too many hands were on my food; personally I do not like it when I received a plate that looks like it came with assembly instructions from Ikea. Simple food that tastes great. The black cod was pan fried and served with a creamy corn, braised baby leeks and perfectly roasted baby beets garnished with a beet and truffle mousse. The flavors ?popped? on the palate and worked well together. Again the presentation was refined but not pretentious. Everything worked. Everything including the impressive wine cellar and handsome service I received was top-notch. The young man that served me was one of the better servers I?ve had in Los Angeles, maybe he is a ?server? by trade and not an ?actor? posing as a ?waiter? until his big break comes along??!! All things considered the Jer-ne restaurant has come a long way from its far-East beginnings and for this writer/eater it?s a journey that Jer-ne needed to make!

Great outdoors...

This place is all about the ambiance and the location! I've never been disappointed with a single lunch on the outdoor terrace and dinner is what you'd expect form a restaurant located in the Ritz Carlton (although I favor the lunches over the dinners). Check to make sure that the ""sukiyaki"" you order is one that they'll cook in the kitchen and not one you'll have to cook at the table yourself if you're starving. :)

Nice Atmosphere

Very cozy. Great drinks. Great wine list, especially by the glass. Friendly staff. Not stuffy as you would expect at a Ritz.

Food was AMAZING...(could be cheaper)

Had the bento box and fish of the day...was def. satisfied! Not snooty like you'd expect a Ritz restaurant to be...

What An Expensive Disappointment . . .

I had dinner there last Friday night- June 2006 and was looking forward to an interesting meal - based on the LA Times review. Three of us got the 5 course tasting menu- with wine pairings ($95). We knew it was a bad call when the bread was stale and tastless. The best part of the meal was the cheese course- the one thing the chef couldn't mess up. The ""heirloom"" tomatoes (my favorite) had zero flavor, the lamb was bland and chewy, the salmon dry. We spent $385 for the 3 of us for food I couldn't even finish. The service was good- but the poor waitress begged me to agree with her that the food was ""just so yummy"" - I couldnt even fake it. for the money, buy a nice bottle of wine, get some In-N-Out and eat them on the sand instead.

Top Sunday Brunch EVER!

I sent my parents together as an anniversary present. They took very good care of my parents, greeting them by name, putting them at a corner table, and presenting them with a elegantly decorated truffles tray at the end.
The bufffet is phenomenal. Nothing is fatty or gooey or sitting in buttery sauce getting cold. The presentation and layout is gourmet. Service is attentive and friendly and helpful and patient. The ambiance was vaguely Asian, but not funky or wierd. modern elegance. You could choose the beautiful patio outdoors overlooking the sparkling marina, but indoors there is still a view through the large windows, and the classical guitar in the background. Even if you sit outside, there is a glass balcony, so you don't get windblown. Very pricey, but on a special occasion, I would not hesitate to recommend this dining experience to anyone who appreciates fine food and elegance.

Try the filet!!

I was forced into going to Jer-ne with my wife for a work dinner.
We had a set menu and I chose the filet mignon. It was absolutely the BEST I have ever had! I would go back just to have it again. The service was also fantastic so I would recommend it for large parties too.

Jer Ne to NOWHERE ??????

I too had a similar experience to the Valentines Day Massacre ! 2/14/2005..
I was really disappointed with the food at what one of L.A's best ??

The food pairings for their Valentines meal can best best described as ""trying to hard"" with flavors competing for each other rather than being complementary. Their dessert bar was highly disappointing. Out of the 5 course meal that I had, there was not one dish that one can rave about plus to add insult to injury the menu was exorbitantly overpriced !

At best, it was a very disappointing Jer-Ne to Nowhere !
