Katherine heads up the lab where she fabricates retainers and fixed appliances. She welcomes new patients to our practice by assisting Dr. Campbell with new patient exams and records. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Jaw Surgery
The growth of a person’s jaw is a steady process, and sometimes the growth of the upper and lower jaw can occur at different rates, causing a discrepancy in size and function. Often, these abnormalities cause difficulty associated with chewing, talking, sleeping, breathing and other routine activities. For such cases, our office may refer you to an oral surgeon for jaw surgery. Corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery) treats and corrects abnormalities of the facial bones, specifically the jaws and the teeth. Orthodontic treatment may also be used in conjunction with corrective jaw surgery to align the teeth appropriately. Although jaw surgery can dramatically improve a patient’s appearance, the goal is to correct functional problems.

Dr. James D. Campbell is a graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry, where he also received his Master’s degree in the specialty of Orthodontics.
Invisalign Orthodontics
The Essix retainer is a transparent removable retainer that fits over the entire arch of teeth. Similar to Invisalign® trays, Essix retainers have no wires. They are inexpensive and easier to wear. They can be used for other treatments as well, including tooth movement and bridges.
Braces
Typically, Phase II treatment is normal orthodontic treatment which involves placing braces on the patient once his or her permanent teeth have erupted. The braces straighten the permanent teeth and finish correctly aligning the patient’s jaw. By age 12, most, if not all, permanent teeth have erupted and are in place, which is when crooked teeth, gaps and bad bites can easily be detected. These problems will hardly ever correct themselves, so this is when most parents decide to seek orthodontic treatment for their children.
