On a recent visit to New York I had the opportunity to visit Lux Lounge in the heart of the city of Rochester in one of the art districts. Before entering Lux, the sidewalks are lined with an array of metal sculptures where the parking meters used to be. Upon entry I noticed a lot of local art of different Medias, on the walls were paintings, a very interesting lighted wall sconce, the furniture, and surfaces is all original art. A one word summery could include “alternative” but labels are way too defining for a place like Lux. One could say there is an eclectic side show of misfits, barroom philosophers, and circus people. Now side barring the jest…there was an event for its 5th year called Luxgiving which is an equivalent to Thanksgiving, and held about the same time of year. This is when you notice a change from the typical stereotype of the bar scene, more like a neighborhood affair. The atmosphere was warm, the patrons and their families, the employees, and of course the owner, put out a room full of food and all was welcomed. The backyard is an icon of its own. It’s large, with plenty of places to sit, under the canopy, at picnic tables, or around the fire chimney. The hospitality world is known for a high turn over of its employees, yet the staff at Lux treats themselves, and the patrons like a family, again helping to create the feeling that you’re welcomed in. To try something different, or just shoot a game of pool, chances are you’re going to remember Lux, so let the blitzes begin! eSocrates
I went to Salinger's for the first time during the Jazz Fest mainly because there were 5 and 6 dollar beers at the tents and I figured they would have cheaper beer. It is a great location and I walked into something I didn't expect. They have a great selection of beer and a lot of room for people to hang out. They have a nice area of games, including foozeball, air hockey and pool. They also have a small area to hang outdoors and enjoy the weather. Great Bar.
I had a gift card to Norton's Pub which was a few weeks outdated. I would have used it earlier, but we forgot where we put it. I called Norton's Pub to see if they would still honor it. The manager said no way. It seems hw would rather pocket the money and does not care about losing customers. My family and my freinds will never go to Norton's pub again. I hope he is happy with his pocket money.
The decor is very warm and inviting, as is the staff. The owners greeted us at the door and were very friendly and welcoming. We had the 10 course tasting menu and thoroughly enjoyed it. Perfect course sizes and everything was delicious. they have only been open about 6 months under this name and management and I wish them success as I had a great time.
This is consistently voted the best place in Rochester for chicken wings. Get a bucket and share with friends. Otherwise, typical bar food in a friendly, noisy atmosphere.
the owner donna and bartender jennine are the best people to know its my favorite place to stop for a glass of wine the locals are friendly and you always feel at home
Great place to party. My girlfriend had her birthday party there and we got a private table and partied into afterhours till 4 a.m. I can't wait for the next party!
The service here at Richmond's is outstanding. The food is excellent and they have such great working staff. They have the best bartenders in town.
Salinger's is a laid back bar and you can go there and have the choice to sit outside or inside. Great place to go with friends.
Salinger's Bar & Grill is a great place to go for happy hour. My co-workers and I go every Friday, highly recommended.
