Established in 1829, Burr and Burton Academy is an independent, coeducational, secondary school that serves more than 700 students in grades nine through 12. The academy offers more than 150 academic and advanced placement courses. Its academic courses include art, English, foreign languages, mathematics, physical education, science and social studies. The school provides a CNN satellite link that provides access to live continuous news feed that students use in their television news programs. It provides more than 10 interscholastic varsity sports, including football, soccer, cross country, field hockey, skiing, basketball, lacrosse, softball, golf and track. The academy s special services department educates students who are identified through a special education review process as eligible for special education and who have individualized education plans.
