Carmello's of Old Town Manassas

Don't go! Carmello's used to be our #1 favorite restaurant. NOT ANYMORE. The owners/managers have transformed what was once a warm and cozy, romantic, "special" feeling restaurant into one that lacks warmth and character. The food used to be outstanding, now it's mediocre at best. We went on Valentine's weekend, there were empty tables (you would never find that happening in the "Old Carmellos"), there was absolutely no background music playing; just the noise of people talking. Tables are so close together, it was impossible to have a private conversation. I know that because I was feeling uncomfortable having to listen to the private conversation at the table next to us. The waiters used to be friendly and personable. Now they are rude and pushy. I asked to see the wine menu, and before I had a chance to look through it, the waitress grabbed it from me and proceeded to show me her recommendations, which were not to our liking and all quite pricy. Sorry, Carmello's, you've badly missed the mark with your renovations. It looks like you're trying to be "urban chic". Look out your window!!! You're located in a historic building, in a historic district of an "old town" area. The train station is more romantic than your restaurant. You've turned a restaurant that was a "one in a million" into a restaurant that's like one of millions of other places. What a waste of a beautiful location.
