Resin Composite
The direct technique usually involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is usually referred to as bonding.
Veneers
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is placed over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only applied to the part of the tooth that is visible when talking or smiling. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
Crowns
Non-surgical therapy removes plaque and calculus by controlling the growth of harmful bacteria and by treating conditions that encourage gum disease. This type of treatment may be all that's needed, especially when periodontal disease is caught early. You may also need to have certain procedures, such as replacing worn fillings or crowns with overhanging margins that can accumulate plaque, taken care of before periodontal therapy can begin.
Bridges
Twenty years ago, these patients would have had no alternative but to employ a fixed bridge or removable denture to restore their ability to eat, speak clearly and smile. Fixed bridges and removable dentures, however, are not the perfect solution and often bring with them a number of other problems. Removable dentures may slip or cause embarrassing clicking sounds while eating or speaking. Of even greater concern, fixed bridges often affect adjacent healthy teeth, and removable dentures may lead to bone loss in the area where the tooth or teeth are missing. Recurrent decay, periodontal (gum) disease and other factors often doom fixed bridgework to early failure. For these reasons, fixed bridges and removable dentures usually need to be replaced every seven to 15 years.

John W. James, DDS,.....received his undergraduate degrees in Biochemistry (1985) and Computer Science (2002) from Cook College, Rutgers University. He graduated with honors from New York University College of Dentistry in 1990 where he received specialized training in fixed prosthetics. He then completed two additional years of training at the West Los Angeles Veterans Administration Hospital in conjunction with the UCLA School of Dentistry where he completed Branemark implant certification training. He practiced dentistry in Cranford, New Jersey from 1992 until joining the staff here in 1997. He is a member of the Academy of Osseointegratiaon. He enjoys golf, computer programming and resides with his wife in Millstone.

Steven R. Zunger DMD, FAGD,......received his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland in 1978. He graduated with honors in 1982 from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and then completed two additional years of advanced training at the Nassau County Medical Center in New York. After practicing in Tel Aviv, Israel, for 8 years, he returned to New Jersey, his home state, in 1993. Dr. Zunger is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and is a member of the American Dental Association, New Jersey Dental Association and the Monmouth-Ocean Dental Society. He lives in Ocean Township with his wife and three children.
