Panda Garden is truly one of the best Chinese Restaurants in the world! I wanted to go to have decent Asian noodles for my birthday today and stumbled across Panda Garden in the middle of Memphis Tennessee. What a pleasant surprise! I am originally from Hawaii and am part Hawaiian and Asian. I have lived across the Pacific Rim. Had Panda Garden been in Hawaii, there would be a long line of hungry customers around the block waiting to eat here. As it is now, Panda Garden is a best kept secret in the middle of Memphis with few customers. The food at this quiet, little Chinese restaurant in the middle of Memphis Tennessee is such a pleasant surprise. The vegetables are crisp and fresh. The rolls and dumplings are freshly made with the freshest ingredients. Unlike typical Chinese American restaurants, the food is not overly greasy, salty, burnt or smothered in bottled processed sauces. The cuisine tastes more healthy and homemade like my Chinese grandmother Bo Lin made back in Hawaii. The prices here are very affordable while the decor is crisp, clean and professional. Clean, crisp linen napkins and quality service ware is used rather than typical cheap plastic plates found at most Chinese fast food restaurants and buffets. The staff is genuinely friendly and service is fast and professional. Thus, if you are looking for healthy, tasty, fresh, authentic Chinese food, Panda Garden is definitely one of best places in the world--except for my grandmother Bo Lin's kitchen!
$45.45 of disappointment... hot wings & rib-eye and asparagus. I WAS a frequent patron of this restaurant. I LOVED their hot wings and rib-eye asparagus. I live in Bartlett and drive over 10 miles and pass 20+ Chinese restaurants to eat there! It's the kind of food that you wake up in the middle of the night dreaming about. Well today their customer service cured me of my cravings. I happened to be on the south side of town and stopped in to take a double order of my favorite dishes to go because I had out of town guests who wanted to try what I've been raving about. When I got home & sampled my rib-eye, I found that the secret sauce was very light to non-existent. I called my C-Fu's to alert them to the problem and was told to "freeze" the food, bring it in and they would make me another on the house, next time I'm there. The rib-eye is expensive ($15) and usually worth it, but since I had guests coming, little time to alter the menu, and $45 less money, I had to serve what I had. When I told the manager this, the only reply I got was "Well I'll let them know." From this day forward, I will not spend another dime in this restaurant! I feel cheated and worse yet embarrassed. I will no longer suggest this restaurant to my family and friends. A good product is nothing without great service.
Yum! Yum! Yum! Yum! Yum!! I am born and raised from Memphis but have moved all around and lived in quite a few different cities. I'm currently in NYC where there are a ton of delicious restaurants. But I still crave Wang's menu!! Their chef is phenominal!! Seriously the best Hot and Sour Soup that I've had from any city I've traveled to and any restaurant I've eaten in. And I'm even comparing it to the Hot and Sour Soup that I've had in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong.... The Garlic Chicken leaves you wanting more, their fried rice is so tasty, and their lo mein... Well, all I can say is yum!! The best part is, they are so easy going at Wang's that when I ask to customize my dishes just how I like it, they do it perfectly without fuss! It also has a really nice atmosphere. I a lot of Chinese places that I have eaten at have very sticky tables and I feel my feet sticking even to the floors. Not at Wangs. They are super clean and very hip for a Chinese restaurant. I mean, a full bar with a bartender that makes delicious martinis, a piano player who I wish would transfer his talent to me, the plants make you feel like you wanna go home and fix your own garden.... This restaurant is awesome!
My family and I absolutely LOVE this place. Walking in here makes me feel like I'm walking in my own home. Everyone greets you and is so happy to see you. It's one of the few restaurants where the owners are actually there, always, making sure you enjoy your experience and love the food!! My favorite is their Peking Duck and Mushu!! The server comes to your table and makes the food for you. It makes me feel so special. Not to mention, it is sooo delicious. My family and I always fight over the last bites it's so good. And when I go there with my friends, we'll get other dishes like their ShaCha Beef and their Hunan Chicken. I love it when there is enough left over to take home so I can eat it again!! I'm so glad the one on Park is still with the family. That Wang family sure knows how to do it right!! You guys, if you haven't tried it, you are missing out!! If you haven't been there for a while, I'm sure the owners will still remember you and love to feed you. They are some of the sweetest people with the best food!!!!
I just moved to Memphis from Shanghai China this month. Introduced by my chinese friend, I visited Great China Market. First impression is the familar smell of typical chinese grocery store that I go to at Shanghai. And they provide Tofu, Qing Chai, Chai Xing (chinese green vege) etc., which are pretty fresh. The store is not big and little bit messy but you can find most of things you need for basic chinese home cooking. Owner and his family are very friendly. I felt home there. :) Well, the only thing need to pay attention though is, you need to look at the product expiration date. It is Memphis, even the asian population is growing, though it isn't fast enough to exceed the date printed on the package. :) But after all, if you are new to Memphis from mainland China, you can check this one for reference.
Their lunch buffet is delicious!!!!!!! It changes it's selections daily keeping it exciting and different. And the food is so fresh and hot!! I usually hate eating buffet food because you can usually tell the food has been sitting there, untouched for so long. And the food usually tastes so different from when you order off the menu. Not at Wang's. It's the best - just like ordering off of the menu cause it's so fresh and hot and delicious, but instead of getting one item, you get to enjoy a sampling of everything. It's also really quick turnover so I can hurry back to work when I'm done eating. No fuss. But on the rare day that I don't have time to sit down, I just grab a togo box and fill it with all of my favorites, as much as I want. Love it, love it, love it!!!!! Everyone must try it!!
I have lived in Memphis for four years and this is by far the best Chinese restaurant that I have eaten at in all of Memphis. And the prices are awesome. You don't even need to order "dinner" portions. If you just order off of the lunch specials, it comes with fried rice, spring roll, crab wonton, sugar donut, and of course the main part...what you actually ordered. You can get all of this for $6-$7. And if you order it togo, for some reason the portions are larger than if you actually sit down and eat in the restaurant. Try it out...it's awesome!!!
I read several reviews about how great the food was here so I decided to try it with my husband. I wanted to try something I was familiar with so I chose Moo Goo Gai Pan. This was the worst I have ever tasted. It was very "blauh" to say the least! How do you mess up fried rice? My husband had the General chicken. It was overcooked and taste like it had been reheated. I NEVER right reviews but this place was too bad to have someone else waste money there. The prices are outrageous for the quality of food they are serving.
The food is delicious! But the female cashier/owner is rude! Ive eaten there for years & the quality of the food & service has NOT changed! LOL The good food outwweigh her funky attitude LOL. Stop by & try it You'll be glad that u did. Right @ the corner of Frayser Blvd & Rangeline(behind Rite-Aid)
This is an awesome restaurant. I have not eaten inside but have ordered delivery too many times to count and I have NEVER gotten bad food. I've never even gotten cold food. They are very fast and friendly and their food is always hot and freshly prepared. Love this place!
