Being from the East coast, there was only one type of pizza that I loved: thin crust. Any other version should be considered illegal. However, I was open to trying out Chicago's beloved deep dish pizza. It was a sacrifice I was willing to make. My boyfriend took me to one of his favorite deep dish pizza locations, Lou Malnati. It was in a nice suburban location away from the city. They had a small, private lot however they had an extension on the side for their busier days.I went straight to the Deep Dish Pizza section of their menu.Once we walked into the building, they had a few floors but they sat us on the first floor by the windows perfect for a sunny Sunday afternoon. I have been waiting so long to try Chicago's deep dish pizza so I was excited when I got their menu and flipped towards that section. The Malnati Chicago Classic was the obvious choice to pick with a little bit of everything: sauce, cheese and the sausage! When we spoke with the waiter she had mentioned the personal might be smaller than what we had expected so we both went with the small. Little did we know that the small was enormous more than enough for two people. Since the thin crust pizza was easy to maneuver, I was surprised when Kevin had picked up his fork and knife...to eat the pizza. At first, I fought the idea and picked the slice up and realized there's way too much cheese inside to navigate this. The fork and knife was the way to go until the cheese had somewhat hardened. Then it was much easier to hold on to the crust and eat it. Their buttery crust gave it a nice sturdy crust to support the contents inside. You can tell from trying the sauce it wash homemade. If only they bottled their tomato sauce...if only. Then there was a sausage layer followed by the amazing layer of cheese. It looks overwhelming at first but you realize the necessity since it had to be proportional to the other layers. As much as we thought we could finish the entire pie, we were unsuccessful in our attempt. Luckily, they boxed it up so we could enjoy them later. Since their pizza is amazing, you can get their pizza shipped to your door (link below)! When I'm craving their pizza, I know exactly what to do to satisfy that craving.Order their pizza online: loumalnatis.com/ship-lous

102. Dinotto Restaurant
Great food, friendly staff, beautiful holiday decor and cozy atmosphere. Manny took very good care of us and recommended an excellent bottle of wine…
This restaurant is a gem and one that we keep going back to everytime we are in Chicago. Luckily, we are here every month. Not only is the food delicious and perfectly prepared, the staff are second to none. They make you feel welcome the moment you walk through the doors. Thank you Frank, Miguel and Marco and all of the staff for always making us feel special. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant if you love Italian food. You will not be disappointed.
Ate at Lou Malnati's with a large party. Wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Forgot to bring out my drink. Pizza was delicious and well-done. Wait for food was reasonable. Waitress gave the entire table one check and individuals had to split up the check by hand. Apparently there is a system limitation, according to the waitress. The overall pleasant experience was tarnished by this check fiasco.
It is our first time here in Chicago and my husband and I really wanted to get a Chicago style pizza so we went down to the concierge and she recommended this place and we were so glad she did. This pizza was amazing and we ended up bringing it back with us to the hotel bc we got a medium and we could only eat two slices but did not want to waste it and we even ate it cold the next day. :-)
We had both of the fish specials, white fish and the Sea Bass but the best meal (out of the 6 ordered at the table) was the Lasagna. Bartender Liz was very knowledgeable of the wines, made an excellent recommendation, which we tried and then ordered a bottle during dinner. Liz is a good addition to your restaurant who's pleasurable, helpful, and very inviting. Good job!!

Delicious italian ice a must visit in Little Italy of Chicago. I have gone numerous times over the years , there is a line but worth the wait. It reminds you of your younger days . Try it you won't be disappointed!
So good! The Lou is where it's at! Makes me wish I lived in Chicago!! Service was great and the only drawback is that a beauty like that pizza takes a half hour to make. But it's worth the wait!
