Medical Weight Loss
The best candidates for tummy tuck surgery are healthy and maintain a relatively stable weight, but have excess abdominal skin or fat or a lower abdominal pouch that won’t respond to diet or exercise. The surgery is especially helpful for women who, through multiple pregnancies or substantial weight loss, have stretched their abdominal muscles and skin beyond the point where it can return to normal.
Immunizations
Beginning October 15, 2021, I have instituted a new policy in our practice that patients who schedule surgical procedures must be fully vaccinated as defined by the FDA for each type of vaccine at the time of surgery. Patients may still seek appointments for consults without vaccination, but must agree to be vaccinated when scheduling the surgery. We do this for the safety of our patients, staff, their families and friends.

MRI
Additionally, saline implants offer increased safety because there is no danger of a silent rupture. Silent ruptures occur in silicone implants, when a tear causes the silicone to leak out of the implant into the surrounding tissue. Because there’s no obvious deflation in the implant, these leaks can’t be detected from the outside; only an MRI can confirm it. Silent ruptures can go undetected for months or even years, potentially posing serious health issues.
Mammography
Additional mammography images: Breast implants do not make a woman more susceptible to breast cancer, but they may alter the way mammography is performed. Usually, additional views are required to ensure that the implant doesn’t obscure part of the breast tissue.

Reconstructive Surgery
He returned home to the University of Wisconsin Medical School, taking classes at the same hospital where he was born. He spent the next seven years in St. Louis for postgraduate study at Barnes Hospital, associated with Washington University’s top-ranked surgery programs and St. Louis University’s plastic surgery program. This training included a wide variety of general surgical procedures as well as concentration on the specialized areas of plastic and reconstructive surgery. During his training at Barnes, Dr. Bartell authored or co-authored more than a dozen scientific articles. It is also beneficial to supply documentation from other medical professionals supporting existing medical problems, which could constitute a medical necessity for the cosmetic procedure.
