Great place for more authentic Japanese food

The sushi here is mixed. I would say mediocre on many counts. The futo maki is good, though. Where it shines is in offering more traditional Japanese fare. The ramen is great, and the pick-your-own combo plates are always fun. It's nice to see a Japanese restaurant in the South that is more than a joint for Hibachi steak and chicken.

Alabama's first Sushi place and still going

Edo first opened in a double wide trailer off of Highway 72 in Madison behind a gas station. you could get pickled eggs and pigs feet in the gas station and raw fish and seaweed at Edo--don't know which people thought was weirder. Even though it was a trailer, you never felt like it was since the owner had tatami rooms, gardens, etc.

The new place is a very nice large restaurant. I took a friend of mine from Boston there who was leary of sushi in Alabama but after we got there he was very happy and said it was some of the best sushi he has had.

It is a classic place, with a wonderful, friendly staff.

Very authentic Japanese!

The variety here is amazing! It's the only place in the south that I've found traditional Japanese curry. The wife and I had the ""Mirror plate"", with it's 8 choices of items. Nothing was really bad, and several were very good! The salmon has been frozen, but this is Alabama, so that's to be expected I guess.

Give it a shot, you won't be disapppointed!

Seafood and Ice Cream

It's a great place to eat fresh seafood. I would highly reccomend their octopus and their udon! They have a great eye for Octopus.I also reccomend their green tea.

They have three ususual and extremely delicious flavors of ice cream. They have Mango, Green Tea, and Red Bean. The red bean tastes similar to strawberry (with more protein!). I love this place. If you can, reserve a spot at their beautiful and relaxing tatami room.

A very good restaurant. The meal was prepared by a very good chef. I liked the seafood platter. I would recommend this place to anyone. Very pleased.
