Macon Coliseum N.S. penalized by the Federal Government for a HIGH RATE OF INFECTIONS.April 20, 2016: a teenage boy ACQUIRED TWO FORMS OF RESISTANT BACTERIA (Serratia Marcescens - U.S. Navy Biological Weapon AND Staph) during shoulder surgery at Macon Coliseum NS Hospital. Patient began running up to 103.6 temp immediately after surgery. Patient was taken to Macon Coliseum NS Emergency Room for horrific shoulder pain at surgery site & high fever where the ER nurse made an error administering his IV. ER Nurse proceeded to dose patient with IV morphine underneath his skin. Patient remained in agony for an extended length of time. ER Nurse administered a second IV dose of morphine, again underneath his skin, turned out the light & instructed patient to calm down due to extremely elevated blood pressure. Patient suffered until a SECOND ER nurse noticed the large lump of morphine at the IV site. Nurse 2 corrected the IV error & administered a 3rd dose of morphine which gave the patient some relief. ER physician ordered a dose of IV Bactrim antibiotics & released the patient without obtaining a tissue sample from surgery site. Within several days, patient was hospitalized for 8 days at Navicent Health for resistant bacterial infection & emergency shoulder surgery performed to CUT the infection out of the muscle tissue. Patient was treated by Infectious Disease & discharged with a PICC Line to continue two IV Antibiotic treatments - Rocephin & Vancomycin for 6 weeks. Within several weeks, patient was rushed to a local ER with excruciating abdominal pains, hospitalized for 3 days for emergency gallbladder removal, bile duct surgery & a biopsy that confirmed liver damage. Lab tests confirmed damage was consistent with the use of Rocephin & Vancomycin IV antibiotics. A teenage boy will now struggle for the rest of his life with a 30% mobility in his dominant right arm due to inadequate healthcare services in addition to organ loss/damage.

I did have some problems with a young girl named Lindsey about 6 weeks ago when I was in the office over a copay, I am uninsured and have to pay a copay every visit (and trust me it is a reasonable copay). I had a balance of 35.00 and of coarse copay for that day but all I had was 20.00 because I am in between jobs at the moment. She told me I had to pay a minimum of 40. Lindsey DID NOT care about my situation and she was just rude as hell. I asked to speak to the office manager a d little miss attitude stomped off. The young black girl signed me in any way and took the 20.00. While waiting I heard Lindsey fussing at the other girl for checking me in. Once I got into a room I asked my nurse if she could get the office manager for me without letting the front girls know and she did as I asked. Mrs. Leslie came and sat down with me and apologized over and over again for her staffs behavior. Leslie was understanding and caring about my situation.
Have been a patient with this practice for six years, have always had great service from all aspects of the office. Dr. Graves is excellent.
My wife Cora D.Ingram has been going to this Dr for years know and im so sick of them, the actually left her in a room after beeing called to the back for her Checkup like an hour she waited now she calls an try to get a pap and more done next week, this lady gets on phone and like always MS ROUNDTREE DONT HAVE OR WILL NOT BE IN THAT WEEK....REALLY do she even have licensee cause she stay on more vac than anything...Wow some ppl.
I had horrible experiences there. I never could get the clerical staff to fax in my meds to the pharmacy and when I complained to the doctor I was told it was "not their job". I was also told that I was "the only one" who ever had a problem with his staff even though my experiences with them were identical to the first two reviewers. Dr. Graves mis-prescribed my blood pressure med and shortly there after I had a stroke. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy.
I absolutely agree with Katie P.. Crappy choice is not even deserving of one star. I wish I could give them a corner star. Not because of the doctors or practitioners; but because of the reception ( with the exception of one. ) and office manager. When I make payments in full; I have to always deal with them claiming I have a balance due. Thank God for me paying with personal checks, and keeping all my receipts for the four years I've been going there. Even though I'm the first caller, I always quickly placed on hold. Sometimes for up to 30 - 45 minutes. They are rude and lack the people skills needed to deal with people on a daily basis. When I first started going there; there was an excellent LP office manager. She had the front office running smoothly, and without all this foolishness that now takes place. The moment she left, everything went to hell. However, they even became worst than anyone could ever imagine. Dealing with them is like living in the land of misery and dread; while dealing with doctors, practitioners and medical assistants, is like heaven on earth. unfortunately. the office manager and her minions/receptionist, make it impossible to give First/Last/Crappy Choice a good review.
Last choice. Never sent my meds to the pharmacy. Never got results from my blood work. Now they won't give me my medical records. I called, emailed and went to the office. No one would help me. I offered to sit and wait and the terribly unprofessional manager said she was calling the police. I'm still sick and they know why but are keeping the information from me. Is that legal??I urge others who have had this experience to file a complaint with the BBB. No one should have to suffer like this.
My daughter had to stay at the Children's Hospital twice. Very nice and friendly staff. The art and colors added a creative touch that my daughter found fascinating. We were given one of the beautiful handmade blankets that was donated to the hospital. There was a breakroom with a coffee maker and snack machines, which came in handy. All of our needs were met. All around great place.
I would say stay away find another place to put your loved ones. They talk a good game but my dad was at this center and was not given the care and treatment he needed. He was put on all kinds of medicine by the psychatrist and when he had be to rushed to the hospital with a medical emergency he was just left there. No follow up by the psychatrist with the patient or with the family even though his staff doctor tried numberous times to get him to come talk to us and see my dad. I would suggest you find another way or place to take care of your loved just personal experience. I will say some of the staff at this center are caring, loving people and will do their best to care for their patients but they can only do so much the doctors just DO NOT CARE!!!
My stepson was involved in an accident while playing baseball. During the game he was hit in the head with a baseball. At the time we did not think it was serious due to him having his helmet on. He went back out on the field when he felt better and played. Shortly later he stopped and started crying. We figured he may have a headache and took him home to give him some Tylenol. Before we could give him anything he started throwing up. We took him to the E.R. immediately and he was transferred to the Children’s Hospital PICU. He had a concussion and a small bleed on his brain. Thankfully it stopped and he was sent home. During our stay he was treated like a celebrity. He was so happy and even asked if we could move there. That in it self says a lot about this hospital. He received excellent care and attention from every staff member. I have a new profound respect for this hospital. Thanks to everyone involved!!!
