        About Search Results

YP - The Real Yellow PagesSM - helps you find the right local businesses to meet your specific needs. Search results are sorted by a combination of factors to give you a set of choices in response to your search criteria. These factors are similar to those you might use to determine which business to select from a local Yellow Pages directory, including proximity to where you are searching, expertise in the specific services or products you need, and comprehensive business information to help evaluate a business's suitability for you. “Preferred” listings, or those with featured website buttons, indicate YP advertisers who directly provide information about their businesses to help consumers make more informed buying decisions. YP advertisers receive higher placement in the default ordering of search results and may appear in sponsored listings on the top, side, or bottom of the search results page.

          Tips & Advice

Do beauty salons offer gift certificates?

Yes, many beauty salons offer gift certificates, which allow the holder to purchase goods and services. Beauty salon gift certificates typically have a cash value that indicates the amount of the goods and services that the certificate can purchase. For example, a $50 gift certificate can be used to purchase $50 of goods and services at a salon. The certificate can also be purchased for something specific, like a hairstyle or manicure.

What is the proper amount to tip at a beauty salon?

The proper amount to tip at a beauty salon is 20 percent. This holds true for all services provided at a salon, whether it's a manicure or a haircut. If you've been assisted by more than one professional, you can break the tip down so that everyone you've worked with is compensated. In cases like this, you'll need to specify how much cash goes to each person, or you can simply put the cash in separate envelopes. A tip of $2 to $5 is appropriate for assistants who shampoo and/or prepare your hair for coloring.

How often should hair be cut?

If you want to keep your hair at a set length, it's best to get a cut every four to six weeks. If you're growing your hair out, you can space your haircuts at four- or six-month intervals. Haircuts can help address unsightly split ends, so if your strands have this kind of damage, scheduling a cut may help improve your hair's appearance.

Should customers wash their hair before arriving for a haircut appointment?

Washing your hair before arriving for a haircut appointment might be a good idea if you want the salon to provide a cut and not a wash. In this situation, washing your hair beforehand will eliminate tangles, and this will make it easier for the stylist to work with your hair and give you the cut you desire. Many salons include a wash with the haircut, and, in cases like this, washing your hair before arriving for a haircut appointment might not be necessary. If getting hair colored, it is best to not wash it before the appointment, the color clings better to slightly dirty hair and the dye or bleach might burn your scalp since it won't have the natural oils to protect it.

How far in advance should a beauty salon appointment be booked?

If you want to guarantee a spot on the schedule, it's safest to book your beauty salon appointment days or weeks in advance. This is especially important if you're working with a stylist who has a busy schedule. However, many salons offer same-day appointments. If you're making a same-day appointment, it's best to call first thing in the morning.

What type of services do beauty salons offer?

Beauty salons offer a wide range of services designed to help you look your best. Some beauty salons specialize in cutting, styling, and coloring hair. Other specialize in skin care, and provide facials and treatments that are designed to improve the health of your skin. Then there are those that pamper your nails with manicures and pedicures. Some salons provide hair removal services such as electrolysis and waxing.

Does operating a beauty salon require a license?

Operating a beauty salon does require a license. Beauty salon operators must obtain a cosmetology license, and these are issued by the state government. There are different types of cosmetology licenses, which  vary based on the service that is being provided. For example, there are different licenses for barbers, aestheticians, and manicurists. Each employee providing a service in a salon must be properly licensed. Licenses need to be regularly renewed, and the intervals vary from state to state.

How much do sessions with a counselor cost?

The average cost of a session with a counselor in 2017 is  $90 an hour. The cost range $60-$130 an hour. Some counselors offer package deals and might take insurance.

How do I know if I need a counselor?

A marriage, family, child or individual counselor can help you if you are having relationship problems, feeling sad and unmotivated, worry excessively, are undergoing a difficult transition period, have problems related to addiction, have suffered trauma or abuse, etc.

How does a counselor differ from a therapist?

A counselor generally advises patients on solving a problem and will work with them to arrive at a solution. A therapist uses psychological techniques to treat mental and/or emotional problems to encourage behavior modification.

NIGHTMARE!! I went to Changes once & will never go back! When I went they had so many people crammed in the salon (friends, family, etc.) that I wasn't sure who worked there & who didn't. Plus they all brought their kids who we're running around being bad & not once did anyone stop them.Lisa did my highlights & she pulled my hair so hard that my head was throbbing & my scalp was bright red by the time I left. She rushed through my highlights very quickly & left me to process while she worked on other people. After rinsing it was obvious that my hair was fried. Her & her "assistant" proceeded to rip through my wet hair with a comb without the slightest concern that they were breaking it off. When I straightened it a week later I noticed large chunks where she had missed highlighting. I took extra care of my hair for 8 weeks before I returned to my regular stylist to have her repair the mess.My hair is about mid-back & very thick. I've never had issues in the 10 years I've gotten highlights until now. Bits of my hair is broken up to my collarbone from their lack of care & consideration. Please save yourself the trouble and never go there!

Had a horrible experience there had to go back TWICE within two days to get my hair fixed and the Hair dresser Aquina George still messed it up. Then when I told her that I was not satisfied her sister who is a stylist at the salon as well cursed me out extremely bad on Facebook and text message and she threatened to beat me up. Please beware of this salon

Bad business, rude Ex Careless Beautician with a Nasty Attitude Renaire Jackson.I was a regular customer each week. She stood me up twice about doing my hair and having me come to the shop early when it opens like I don't have anything else to do.No LOVE LOST either, just wasted my money on a ratchet female whom can't keep nobody working in the shop with her because of her attitude towards others.Renaire Jackson can't survive this world alone.Good luck with running away a well paid supervisor that wouldn't ever recommend you to nobody about doing hair. You ARE NOT the only female that has a shop and chair open too.I can't believe you did an $85 sew in before my $35 guaranteed hair do each week vs that 1 customer who see you every other 2 months for that once in a month sew in.But when it comes to business, you are not fit for it and professional when it comes to weekly guaranteed clientele. You changed when you got your Truck drving man Slick too.Good luck.God bless you Devil.

Please do not use them for laser hair removal. I had treatments with another provider and thought I would save some money through Macon DealSaver, but it was a waste of $50. I contacted Sonja who said it was a process and many treatments were needed, but I know better having had treatments before. She said she would give a refund after speaking with her partner, but I never heard from her again. Please use another provider.

Ask for Anne, or Sonya. Amazing body therapy, and Anne got rid of scars I didn't know I had.
