Dental Examination
Healthy gums are part of a beautiful smile. During our comprehensive exams, weâ€™ll review your periodontal health and assess your risk of gum disease, one of the leading causes of adult tooth loss. Plaque, a sticky, colorless film, can develop on your teeth, and bacteria can form. If plaque isnâ€™t removed effectively, it can harden into tartar and cause swollen, bleeding gums and receding gum lines. We use root planing and scaling to remove plaque and tartar from the gum line and if you have exposed root surfaces, weâ€™ll use GLUMA desensitizer to reduce any unwanted cold or touch sensitivity. For patients with moderate to severe gum disease, we prescribe Arestin, a medication which improves gum pocket depth and restores a balance of healthy bacteria to your mouth. We will formulate a home care regimen specific to your needs.

Oral Cancer Screening
Oral cancer is serious, and early detection can impact your prognosis. As part of our preventive care, we offer thorough oral cancer screenings. Using visual and manual screening methods, Dr. Chincheck will examine your gums, tongue, cheeks, and other soft tissue of your mouth for any abnormalities. Additionally, weâ€™re equipped with Vizilite technology, which uses a safe chemiluminescent light to aid in the identification of lesions and abnormalities. Tobacco, alcohol use, and HPV exposure are the primary lifestyle risk factors, though anyone can develop the disease, which makes screening vital for all patients, especially those over age 40.

Fluoride Treatment
If your teeth are feeling extra sensitive, you donâ€™t have the benefit of fluoridated water, or, if youâ€™ve become more prone to decay due to diet, acid reflux, and, or, dry mouth, we offer fluoride treatment for both adults and children. Fluoride restores essential minerals to the tooth enamel, adding a barrier against decay and protecting the dentin layer from exposure to changing temperatures and other sensitivities. Childrenâ€™s developing teeth also need the extra protection of regular fluoride treatments to help them grow into strong, healthy smiles. We provide fluoride treatments as needed, and for patients who need extra protection, weâ€™re happy to prescribe a prescription-strength toothpaste, either Fluoridex or Clinpro, to strengthen enamel and ward off decay.

Resin Composite
If your teeth succumb to decay, Dr. Chincheck may be able to remove the diseased area and restore your tooth with a dental filling. This process is one of the most common restorations performed by dentists, but not everyone offers the same results. Our dental fillings easily blend with your natural teeth, as we use a tooth-colored composite resin. Once cured, your teeth will be back to normal, and youâ€™ll be able to eat, drink, and speak as always. Our fillings are durable, and the process is relatively simple and quick. Donâ€™t let decay take control of your teeth.
Veneers
