        Established in 1995 as the Southeastern Cancer Center, the name was changed in 2002 to honor Alice and Monroe Carr Gibson, two Robeson County citizens dedicated to the cancer patients of this region. Prior to its inception, cancer services in Robeson County were provided by late Dr. David Richardson and the caring staff of Lumberton Medical Clinic in conjunction with Duke Medicine. Outside of the care provided by Dr. Richardson, our friends and neighbors routinely had to seek cancer treatment 30 minutes to two hours away in other communities . Gibson s construction made outpatient cancer treatment more convenient for our community. Affiliations with Duke Medicine and Southeastern Radiation Oncology brought world class clinical care to Gibson Cancer Center; and accreditation by the American College of Surgeons, Commission on Cancer ensured that care was on par with the best community cancer programs in the country.

        Gibson Center - The Best of the Best

        The Gibson Cancer Center in Lumberton, NC is the very best at what they do. The staff is always professional, courteous and prompt. They value your time as well as their own. Maybe it is because of the nature of the illinesses that they treat, but whatever the reason, they run a tight ship. Your appointment time is prompt - I have never had to wait more than 10 minutes in the years I have been associated with the Center. The site is clean and attractive, and is immaculate. The Doctors that are on staff are caring and dedicated to their cause. Patients feel that when they enter the building. In a time of declining health care providers who seem to operate a lotery for their patients, it is a blessing for Robeson County to have access to the Gibson Cancer Center.
