This is the first time dealing with a skilled nursing facility. It was a horrible horrible horrible experience. My mom was supposed to be placed in a private room and when we got there they tried placing her in a semi private room. She was left to soil herself in the wheelchair after we called multiple times for the aids to help. The director of nursing was supposed to address these issues with us but instead sent there secretary/CNA Pauline. The administrator Sophia stated she would address these issues. Nothing was resolved and my mom was not bathed, changed out of her clothes, or IV taken out of her arm. This place taught us a lesson in inhumanity, I would never recommend this place even if it was the last place on earth. The staff saw her as a Medicare/Medicaid payment and not a patient they did everything to keep my mother from walking. No one evaluated her, no one introduced themselves, the food was left on the table where she could not reach it. The call light was left behind her bed on the floor, this place is a terrible place please do not take any of your family members here. My mother is an outspoken, independent lady and her stort stay st Garrison turned her into a depressed person who was giving up. People of you have family there check up on them take care of them and be there to watch out because these vultures desgiued as care givers will suck the life out your family members.

BEWARE! Totally understaffed. Patients left to take care of themselves. My mother was given an alarm to notify staff when she got out of bed. I …
I heard ine of the Nurse On Station 2 till A Someone Granny, Mom That if she wanted ice she should of got it herself just like how she can roll herself out there to smoke she could of roll herself to go get ice and the next time she goes smoke she can get her own ice when she comes in and The Other nurse that works with her she always talking ugly to the housekeeper or a floor tech person can you imagine how she talks to the people who lives there !!
The parent company Ensign was fined 48 million in 2015 for Medicare fraud. It may be ongoing. My mother was put in isolation for c dif (causes diarrhea) when she had been given a stool softener. That and the fact that they took money for a private room which they failed to provide were the last straw. I removed my mother on 5/13/16, and she has gained weight. She lost about 30 lbs. In 5.5 months at Garrison, besides being attached to a wheelchair much of the time. She walks with a walker now. It took over 4.5 months to get the over $4000 they owed us back.
They run out of supplies to wrap limbs of patients' limbs & over a day later they're still out!! What kind of rehab runs out of bandages & leaves patients without? The staff seemed nice but unconcerned about whether supplies were available or if specialists waited 11 days to visit patients! In a Family Emergency keeps doctor away they should have asked his practice to send a substitute! Insurance companies will only pay for a certain number of days per patient per ailment! They don't care HOW LONG she was forced to wait for doctor! Their clock keeps running!! Why is there NO Patient Advocate coordinating patients' care? Is this how they make a profit?'
This is by far the best nursing home in town today!! The staff are very professional and provide the best care possible.
A once great facility brought down by poor management. I have had two family members stay at the Garrison in the past two years. The first was an absolutely amazing experience. My grandmother received all the care she could have ever needed. The nurses were great, Wendy the administrator even came by to make sure everything was going well for her. So needless to say when my Great Aunt needed to go in for rehab the Garrison was our first choice. WOW! What a bad, bad, BAD decision. Apparently The Garrison was bought out in January of this year (2015) by a company called Ensign. From what I was told by a couple of the nurses nearly all of the staff was fired or forced to quit soon there after so that part time staff (that they would not have to pay benefits to) could be hired in their place. This new administrator, Matt, is a complete and utter moron. I had to meet with him one time because we had problems with one of the other administrators. Well it turns out that administrator was his wife. Yeah . . . so, that doesn't seem wrong AT ALL. Anyway, last week we pulled my aunt out of The Garrison and moved her to another facility. I would not send my dog to this place! Such a shame. Greed clearly got in the way of patient care. Mr. Garrison would roll over in his grave if he knew what had happened to it.
My experience with this facility is only compared to three others that family members have utilized. However, in that context, this facility is clean, professional, courteous and attentive. We've experienced no evidence of neglect or unprofessional behavior.
The Windmill Village Rehab is one of the newest nursing facilities in Lubbock, Texas. Its clean and the employers are very friendly and accommodating. The census is low, so there are not many residents there...most of the residents are able to get the attention needed due to a low census. The facility is new and I am sure there will be more residents admitted and eventually the census will be a lot higher. I can truly say that the staff are very friendly. The care, love, and time shown to residents and their family members is what makes the facility recommendable.
I wouldn't recommed this business to anyone needing rehab or skilled nursing, my mother was there and she got very poor treatment and bedsores and fell and busted her elbow, negligent people there
I worked at Heritage Oaks. We had a great group of teamplayers that took good care of the people. I would recommend it for anyone to live there, or to work there!
