Hotel Mirabelle

Excellent Weekly Boutique Hotel Experience in SF

I have been residing here at The Hotel Mirabelle for over a week now and realize that, for a very good price, I have discovered an exceptional boutique hotel of San Francisco. This very well taken care of victorian property is donned with vibrant colors and eloquently apropo decorations that define era's passed and various places in the world. It is a smaller, cozy hotel with her two stories. There are larger guest rooms facing the street that have those slightly rounded windows characteristic of SF victorians. I inquired about one of these rooms for a small rate increase. That is, from a weekly rate of $225 for the regular room to a weekly rate of $280 for the 'step up,' which were not available to me due to their already being occcupied. A gentleman who oversees the hotel was giving me a welcome tour of the entire place when we came upon a woman steadfastly preparing one of the rooms for a new tenant, I was introduced to her, the owner, whose demeanor was personable and unobtrusive. Three rooms were presented to me to choose from. Each was assigned a name to describe the theme of its unique design and obviously, to discern one from the next. I immediately chose my third option, the Chiang Mai Room. Textiles, in shades of deep, dark, red against a lush green Backdrop grabbed my interest. The cleverly picked antique furniture pieces each served to function throughout the space. The room seemed quite small (but with tall ceilings) at first. While lying on the well suited, full-sized bed, the room began to feel much larger and very comforting. I noticed Ralph Lauren bedding with deep reddish sateen damask sheets enveloped by a gorgeous handmade quilt. On the door, there hung, a saffron colored silk bathrobe of which I wore everyday. There were many colorful props and antique furnishings from abroad to complete the Northern Thai atmosphere that became my personal, quality space for eight nights. To boot, nice new sinks, microwaves, and refrigerator/freezers equip each room. A tv is included upon request, with an antennae, devoid of cable or satellite. there is, easy to access, complimentary hi speed wireless, of which I indulged. The toilet rooms are situated at the end of the long hall on each floor, sparkling clean with new looking everything. They are bracketed by two separate shower rooms, also very clean with new glass doors, fixtures, and tiles, similar to their counterparts. A very accomodating manager named Buddy resides in the hotel. Between his presence, two separated steel, locking entry doors and the security cameras pointed only where they ought to be, I feel very safe here. It is important to note that, the Hotel Mirabelle is generally very quiet. Rarely have I spotted a guest (two during my entire stay). For the most part, I feel like I have the place to myself, although I know this is not true. Every time I walk into the hallway, I see no one, only Victorian Charm. The bathing facilities, I also have never seen anyone use during my stay and always appear polished. A week is the minimum length of stay here and then a daily rate of $45 can be imposed, which includes tax. I have stayed in many of the B&B's and boutique hotels that San Francisco offers. New to me is the Hotel Mirabelle. She is very San Francisco - esque with her victorian features while delightfully inexpensive. You must call for an appointment to visit the hotel, Don't hesitate in taking this extra step to becoming a guest. A week at the Mirabelle is a sweet deal and like taking a breath of fresh aire.

The Mosser

Location, Value and Style

I travel to San Francisco annually to participate in the Nike Women's Marathon. Usually I travel with a team and my accommodations are taken care of, but this year I participated in the event on my own. As with the race registrations each year, the hotels in the area fill up quickly. And with the start line being at Union Square, location is everything! I found the Mosser quite by accident on one of the large travel sites. It was offered as part of a package deal with one caveat - I could get the package (round trip from southern California and a four night stay) for just over $300 (discount applied), but the only room available was a "single." These rooms have a sink and mirror in them, but use a shared toilet and hall bath, all of which gave me pause because bathroom time is important when preparing for - and after - a marathon, for various reasons. Still, though I had my concerns, my choices were limited, so I took the deal, single room and all, and I have to say, I was NOT disappointed. Though not huge, my single was clean and nicely decorated, and all in all was spacious enough for my needs. Better still, it was just blocks away from Union Square, and afforded me easy proximity to the start line. It is also convenient to the Powell St. BART station, and the hotels 4th street location intersects Market St., and is within walking distance to myriad shops, restaurants and entertainment destinations. I was a bit concerned about street noise, but the reality is, even when I stayed on the 14th floor of a nearby four-star hotel, I still could hear noise all night. There seems to be no escaping it if your destination is Union Square. All in all, the Mosser is a great value for the budget-conscious, and for those looking for a true boutique hotel experience.

Kabuki Hotel- Very Satisfied

Our experience was completely opposite of the previous person. The Kabuki is a block away from the surgery center which was very convenient. When you walk into the hotel, you are immediately relaxed by the atmosphere. The staff was very helpful and kind. The rooms were very nice, clean and unique. We had a corner room which had the Japanese panels that could be pulled to cover the windows and were very beautiful. We were very impressed that we did not hear noise from outside. The bathrooms were very unique. Very clean! Japanese tub and separate shower which was perfect after surgery. We paid $129.00 + $10.00 for parking. We are going again next week and have chose to stay there again. Due to the day of surgery, the room is slightly higher - $159.00 which includes parking. Other rooms in the area were $239.00 + and good luck finding parking. I was quoted anywhere from $40.00 to $59.00 a day for parking at other hotels. If you book a room at the Kabuki two to three weeks in advance, they have rooms as low as $89.00. They have several different packages available. Thumbs Up --- we plan on visiting San Francisco under better circumstances in the future and are planning to stay at the Kabuki. Our Opinion ----- Thumbs Up!

This was a good hotel for the ...

This was a good hotel for the price. We wanted a place with free Internet and free breakfast and both services were great! The room was small but nice, we were hardly there, so it was good. The breakfast is pretty good, LOVED the waffles and the hard boiled eggs :) There is also coffee out for guests 24/7 but sometimes they run out. The front desk staff was very nice and helpful, I forgot a comb, so they gave me one and we were told up front that there was a charge if the safe was used, so we surrendered the keys right away (dodged that bullet right away, just in case!) The parking situation, is a bit hectic though. VERY small spots and they charge $26 per night per car. Be prepared for that. The area that it is located is very convenient. Close to Fisherman's Wharf and an even shorter walk to the famous Crooked Lombard St. The neighborhood felt pretty safe, we walked to Ghiradelli Square after dark and didn't feel endangered at all. Oh, and at the hotel, when you book it, request a water view! Would stay again! Also, if you get the chance: Check out Sausilito right across the Golden Gate Bridge, beautiful, quaint little town! And you can take the ferry back instead of walking back across the bridge!

Hyatt Regency San Francisco
mary00 rated

I actually look forward to staying here at the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero when I travel to SF on business, so much that I have stayed here on vacation as well. I like everything about this place - service, food, location, room size and decoration, cleanliness, amenities available in the room (coffee, hair dryer, etc.), working temperature control, beautiful views on any side of the hotel, walking distance to many fantastic SF spots. I lik stepping out of the hotel and seeing a cable car right in front of me. I stay here 3 or 4 times a year, have been for many years. I miss the Christmas train set up in the lobby of past years, condolences on the passing of the employee who used to organize that. However they still do a fabulous holiday decorating job in the cool atrium lobby during November and December. Note that this is not a luxury hotel but it is not a budet hotel, either! I am here now, just finished a fabulous asparagus and crab omelette with coffee and toast, in my room for $48. I have been in many hotels in many cities, but the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero is the only one I don't really have complaints about and actually look forward to. Good job, Hyatt!

Hotel Kabuki - a Joie de Vivre Boutique Hotel
Brooke R. rated

I would definitely stay here again. Normally we stay at one of the hotels down by Pier 39, but this time we wanted something different (i.e. nicer but less expensive) & chose Kabuki based on a recommendation from a friend. 1) Room rate was awesome -- $89 a night for a King Standard. 2) Easy & cheap on-site parking. DON'T use their Valet, use the public parking that is right below the hotel & has an elevator up to the hotel lobby. 3) Room furniture was modern, though the writing desk was placed at the foot of the bed, so when sitting there to use the computer (Free wi-fi!) the other person couldn't get from one side of the room to the other. 4) Sink/Vanity area of the bathroom 5 Stars.....shower was WEIRD, but perhaps that is the style in Japan? It lacked a curtain & the door to the shower room was glass. Also, we felt that had it been 2 friends or a family with older kids staying the bathroom would have been uncomfortable as there would be no privacy for the shower if someone wanted to use the sink area. Sliding Bamboo doors were cool though! Overall I would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful place to see favorite performers

I finally went to the Rrazz Romm for the first time last Friday September 10th to see Bobby Cauldwell and I had a fantastic time seeing one of my favorite artists up close and personal. We ater earlier but we each had two drinks and though a bit pricey they were good stiff drinks that came o $63.85 with tip. Bobby Caldwell signed cds and took pictures afterwards and chatted with us fans and was wonderful! I plan on coming back here again but I do have one complaint. I gave my credit card for 2 drinks for my friend and myself and have the receipt on my bank statement that I have an extra unauthorized charge on September 13th for $42.71. Itried to call the San Francisco listed and it is a fax and I guess I am going to have to print my bank statemnt out and walk in there after work because we did not eat anything and I know how many drinks we had so I would suggest not giving a credit card to pay for your drinks... USE CASH!!! thIS MIGHT HAVE BEEN A MISTAKE BECAUS ETEH PEOPLE NEXT TO US HAD ALL KINDS OF FOOD BUT T SUCKS!

Winsor Hotel
Ryan E. rated

Winsor Hotel was great for me as a last minute booking. The private room was clean and actually bigger in person. It comes with a TV (late 90s), sink (with mirror), a small desk.....and closet space. The bed (i did not have wallpadding) is big enough for two adults and it was comfortable. I did not have a outlet near me....the one close to me was by the tv....across the room but they provide extension cables. The hotel is near the powell BART stop...from the airport its about 9$ one way. There is a mall and a main shopping street near by. there are asian food places on the block open late and a few bars and clubs. Late night on the block there are bums hanging around on the side that the hotel is located and in front of the hotel. There is buzzer to get into the hotel....just on the way a person will need to have extra caution when proceeding. This is great for a person traveling solo...or a couple on a budget. The hotels location is amazing if your in tourist mode.

Winsor Hotel
Ron P. rated

Me and my colleague stayed at Winsor Hotel for a conference at Moscone Center. It was very easy walking distance to our conference. Winsor Hotel is situated in one the busiest location of san francisco and closer to many important attractions. As I approached the hotel from Market and 6th I was a bit apprehensive due to the crack-house nature of the street. However once I found the (well-secured) front door and entered, I felt a lot better. The Winsor truly is exactly as advertised: a European-style hotel. The rooms are sparsely- furnished and the bathrooms are down the hall. This was not a problem however, as the extremely low rate ($90 a night) more than made up for any possible inconvenience. Walking down the hall in the middle of the night was a small price to pay to save $300 a night in this area. The hotel was safe, and while m y room was a bit warm at first, they staff was very quick to give me a table fan which made it very comfortable.

Castle Inn Motel
aticsay rated

Castle Inn is a really great value. It's in a great location, safe area, central to everything, and walking distance to most everything in the city, or a very cheap uber or lyft ride. There's free parking, but you don't really need a car. Walgreens is right on the corner, and there are plenty of restaurants and bars right around the corner on Polk Street. There's a coffee maker, microwave and a decent size fridge and freezer in the room. Rooms are a pretty nice size, very comfortable, with lots of counter space. No pets or smoking allowed in any of the rooms, which works well for me, but there's an ash tray by the elevator/stairs, so you often have to walk by smokers on your way to and from your room. And if your room is near the elevator, you get the cigarette smoke coming into your room, and the occasionally late night disturbance of smokers hanging out and talking by the ash tray. I wasn't too happy about that.
