I reserved two movers, and they arrived over 4 hours late. They never called me, I had to constantly call to figure out if they were even coming. At one point he said they were pulled over because "we lived in a bad neighborhood." Turns out they went to the wrong customer. They actually stayed and helped them move first (even though they were hours late for our appointment). We ended up loading the truck by ourselves. I spoke with the manager over the phone (for the first time, he only wants to text). He wanted to give me a couple bucks off (not much at all). Their prices are cheap, but so is their communication, their training, and their integrity. If you want to move on time and not have your nice furniture damaged like ours was, pay a little more for a much better experience. Our movers told us this stuff happens all the time. There is a serious management issue with this company that effects hiring, communication, and quality of service. Stay far away.

I only had a one week advance for this move & Eric was able to fit me in. He stayed on the phone while we walked through each room to assess approximately how many hours & cost of the job. Amazingly it took exactly that amount of time to complete. Although if it wasn't for Michael & Charlies hard work it certainly wouldn't have gotten done so quickly! They were AWESOME!!!
My husband and I ordered a washer and dryer through Home Depot, which was delivered to us through Mid Inc on 12/31/2016. The dryer was not even taken off the truck since it was reported that a screw was missing. We were told that someone would call us within 48 hours to give us a new delivery date. I had not heard anything, so I asked Home Depot when it would come. On 1/3/2016, Home Depot contacted me saying that Mid Inc would be contacting me before the end of the day. I did not receive any calls. Throughout the week, I called multiple times a day (with no one answering), and left multiple voicemails. I never received a return call. I then called the number that called me on 12/31/2016 to inform me that they were 30 minutes away, and asked if it was Mid Inc. The man on the other line stated that yes, this was Mid. I asked if they knew when my dryer would be delivered. The man asked me to hold on, and when he came back to the phone, a man started speaking in Spanish saying this was now a taco place. Two men laughed and hung up on me. I contacted Mid the next day, and a manager named “John” answered and stated that he would contact Home Depot, because they did not have the dryer. He called me back stating that he left a voicemail. I told him what happened during the past few days, and he said, “ok.” No apologizing, nothing. I went to Home Depot that afternoon, after not hearing anything, and Home Depot stated that they had received no voicemails or calls from Mid, and that "John" is not someone that works there. Samsung looked again, and stated that no dryer had even been reordered.The incompetence, disrespect, horrific customer service, and inability to do their job is the worst I have ever seen. This company should be ashamed. On Mid’s website, it states that, “we strive for an incredible ‘last impression’ for our customers.” Mid has certainly left an incredible last impression, but one of incredible disgust.

Needed furniture moved from one floor in our home to another.... A LOT of furniture! The two movers arrived just a few minutes early, got right to work and had many (some heavy) pieces of furniture moved carefully and efficiently in just over an hour! Plan to use Bellhops again in the near future. The whole experience was awesome!
This is vendor for Saatva Mattress. Saatva may make a mattress but I may never know. They promised delivery between 11-3 on 2/2/16. I asked if they could call me when I was the next delivery and they said they would call my cell phone 30 minutes in advance. They never called. When I called at 2:45 to see how much longer before the delivery they said they were at my house at 11:30, called (a lie) and left. They won't come back until Monday or Tuesday of next. They will not turn the truck around or deliver the mattress this week. I have no mattress and must sleep on the floor for 7 or 8 days. On the phone they cut me off every time I tried to speak, were rude, unprofessional and uncaring. The concept of Customer Service is beyond them.

In fact, even if you're moving within the same state but you have to go through another state or country first, it's likely considered an interstate move, rather than a local one. That's because the movers are technically transferring items between state lines, which means they'll be responsible for having the correct licensing and insurance in place.
Long-distance moves are much more complicated to plan, typically requiring you to pay numerous extra expenses for everything from shipping items to renting storage space.

All interstate moving companies must be registered with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, so call 888-368-7238 to confirm the licenses, insurance and credentials of the movers you're considering. The FMCSA can also tell you if any complaints have been filed against a particular moving company.
Check with the American Moving and Storage Association
For both local and long-distance moving companies, AMSA is another good place to check out a company's legitimacy. Moving companies aren't required to be an AMSA member, but the ones that are have committed to the association's rules and regulations, which protect both the companies and the consumers hiring them. If a company isn't an AMSA member, that doesn't mean it isn't reputable, but an AMSA membership is a clear indication of legitimacy.

Moving companies can better keep your belongings safe when the movers plan ahead. What does this mean? Many companies take extra time to measure doorways, halls and stairways to find the safest route in and out of your home. They should also provide furniture blankets, covers and moving pads to keep both your home and your belongings free of scratches or other damage.
Keep the Moving Area Safe
There are some things you can control on moving day and some things you simply can't, such as the weather. If you're moving on a snowy, icy or rainy day, keeping all of your paths, stairways and walkways clear and dry is crucial. This can help protect both the movers and the large items they're carrying to and from the truck.
The subject of tipping is relatively unclear when it comes to movers. However, there is a general rule of thumb that most people in the industry agree on: Tip your movers if they've done a good job and you think a tip is warranted.
Generally, a 5 percent tip is considered appropriate, though some people recommend paying $20 per day, per mover for basic, local moves. However, almost everyone agrees you should first do a quick walk-through of your home to check for any damage to your furniture or belongings and to make sure everything is where you'd like it to be.
If you do decide to give a tip, divide it evenly and give money to each individual, rather than giving the entire sum to the head mover and expecting it to be doled out equally. One type of tip to avoid: alcohol. It's usually illegal for movers to have bottles of alcohol in the truck or van, so tipping a bottle of wine or liquor could get them into trouble.
