Von Willebrand disease (VWD) is a hereditary bleeding disorder characterized by bleeding from the skin and mucous membranes (e.g., mouth, nose, throat, gastrointestinal tract) affecting both males and females equally. This bleeding disorder is the most common inherited bleeding disorder. The most common symptoms of von Willebrand disease are easy bruising, prolonged nosebleeds, heavy or prolonged menstrual periods (lasting more than 7 days), and prolonged bleeding following injury, surgery, dental procedures, or childbirth. It is estimated that about 20,000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the US. However, ovarian cancer only accounts for about 3% of all cancers in women.

Endoscopy

Symptoms are frequently related to obstruction of the GI tract or abnormal bleeding. Diagnosis of gastrointestinal cancer is typically confirmed by endoscopy and biopsy of the tumor.
Prostate Cancer
Prostate cancer is the third most common type of cancer and only affects men. It is estimated that there are 161,360 new cases of prostate cancer per year in the United States.
Lung Cancer
Lung cancer is broken out into two main subtypes, non-small cell lung cancer and small cell lung cancer. Typically, small cell lung cancer is less common in the United States. Non-small cell lung cancer is further classified by biomarkers that are present in some subtypes. The first classification of non-small cell lung cancer is by histology, or shape/origin of the cells. Non-small cell lung cancer is broken out into adenocarcinoma, large cell, and squamous cell lung cancer. Within the adenocarcinoma subpopulation, there are markers that can be tested for by your physician to help determine which treatments are most appropriate for your disease. These include, but aren’t limited to, EGFR (epithelial growth factor receptor), ALK (anaplastic lymphoma kinase), and ROS1 (receptor tyrosine kinase) mutations. More therapies are being developed to target unique types of lung cancer each day.

Kidney cancer often is found with an ultrasound or x-ray being performed for another reason. Doctors use different tests to diagnose kidney cancer. If you or your doctor suspects kidney cancer, several screenings, tests, and procedures can be used to confirm a diagnosis.
MRI
Doctors may diagnose ankylosing spondylitis with a physical exam, medical and family history, and imaging and lab tests. A physical exam may include examining your joints, including your spine, pelvis, heels, and chest. They may also watch you move and bend in different directions, checking for flexibility. Doctors also use X-rays and Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to see joint changes. However, you may have the disease for years before the changes show on x-rays. Doctors may use x-rays to monitor the progression of the disease or to rule out other causes for the joint pain. An MRI uses energy from a powerful magnet to produce signals that create a series of cross-sectional images. These images or “slices” are analyzed by a computer to produce an image of the joint. MRI can help diagnose ankylosing spondylitis in the early stages of the disease. Doctors may also do bloodwork to detect the HLA-B27 gene, which is common in people who develop ankylosing spondylitis.

Chemotherapy
Pancreatic cancer starts with uncontrolled cell growth in the cells that make up the pancreas. The pancreas is an organ that is composed of exocrine cells that produce digestive enzymes and endocrine cells that produce hormones for sugar metabolism. Most pancreatic cancers arise from exocrine cells and can include: Pancreatic adenocarcinoma, Adenosquamous carcinomas, Squamous cell carcinomas, Signet ring cell carcinomas and Ampullary cancer. Tumors that arise in the endocrine cells are less common and can include: Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors and islet cell tumors. Pancreatic cancer is difficult to treat even when diagnosed early. Treatment options include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation and targeted drug therapy.

Melanoma, the most dangerous type of skin cancer, is a cancer of the pigment containing cells called melanocytes. Melanoma may also occur less commonly in the eyes, intestines, or other internal organs.
