Good location, right in Fourth Street Live. The oysters were very good. Other food was pretty good. Their mint julep drink was great. We would definitely go back.
Holy cow! If you visit Louisville and don't eat at Joe's Crab Shack, you have completely failed! We ate at a lot of restaurants while visiting Louisville, some pretty nice ones too, and Joe's Crab Shack was by far our most enjoyable experience. The food and drinks were all outstanding, the environment is fun, comfortable and casual, and the service was friendly and excellent.
Every time the food is great, but the little details tend to be forgotten. You ask for extra tarter sauce and get no sauce At All! You order cole slaw and get no fork! Sometimes that makes all the difference when it costs 1.50 for a very small cup, and a sandwich is almost $8. This location tends to act like tarter sauce is gold!! Not sure if its's the owner or the people who work there, but they could be more considerate with the condiments and more attentive to details of the order when packaging food to go. They read it off at the window but you are never sure that it's in the bag.
The food is really good and they are very fast about preparing it. The only thing I don't like is how small the place is.
Do not try to take a large group here. They will put people in front of your group and keep adding time to the estimated wait time.
Owners Gary & Michael Hirsch are the best. I got all of my smoked salmon there. Great service, great people great place. I highly recommend it!
Great food wonderful servicr
Very, very pricey. 3 fish sandwiches, 4 hush puppies, 2 coleslaw and 2 fried okra = $30.00+ dollars. Certainly wont be going back there again. Captain D's is much better and reasonably priced, however their employees are horrible, including the manager!!
My wife and I eat here about every 2 weeks. The 1st mate special is very good and economical. The staff is always friendly.
Grew up going here, and keep going back. Great food and awesome service.
