Elizabeth J. Brownfield, CPA took over our account from our previous CPA who retired.

Note that Liz did not give us a contract, or a statement of terms or rates.

Then in our bill we received a $250 charge for a single hour of in-office consultation, and a $76 fee for "computer software fees". This was not part of the payment structure with our previous accountant, and again she did not disclose this to us ahead of time.

For my personal 2015 returns, I sent her all the information as requested. She confirmed receipt of it over email. She then *forgot* to file my returns, and didn't tell me. She billed me $275 for the service, and I paid it. She cashed the check. I recently called the IRS to confirm what was going on and learned from them (May 2017) that the personal 2015 returns were never filed. I contacted Liz and forwarded her the emails showing that I had sent her the information and asked her why she did not file my returns. She did not respond to the emails. I then forwarded her a copy of the check which she cashed for the $275 for the preparation of the returns (which I discovered she did not actually do). She simply said, "Please provide us with a current mailing address and we will refund the $275 to you." She did not offer to pay the late penalties. She did not actually even apologize.

So, to review:
1. She bills like an attorney
2. She doesn't clearly disclose her billing policies
3. She forgot to file my return
4. She billed me for filing my return
5. She never disclosed to me that she forgot to file my return.
6. She didn't apologize for not filing my return.
7. She didn't offer to cover the penalty for late filing, which was her mistake.

The thing that bothers me the most was that even though she admitted fault implicitly by telling me she would refund the payment, she never apologized. Not only extraordinarily unprofessional, but at the very least it's also impolite and classless.

My advice is to avoid this group at all cost.

Cynthia I.

Liz has been doing my husbands taxes for years. He is a currency trader and she knows all the ins and outs of what he needs for filing with the IRS. She is very dedicated to her clients and we have formed a bond over the years is spite of never meeting her (we live in LA).
