I appreciate the Crenshaw Walmart very much for the following reasons: As a businessman, I use this Walmart as a training tool for my employees; I show them how a business should not be run and how they should not behave as an employee in my business. As part of the training program I taken my employees (paid-time) to this Walmart to educate them about the consequences of being sloppy and disgusting. Every new applicant that I consider hiring must agree to go through this training if hired. I point out to them that the practices of this Walmart branch are precisely what they must avoid and do exactly the opposite to be an employee in my business. I assure you, it works and saves me many hours of training. The practices they must avoid are the following: a) Being sloppy and messy b) Keeping the store and the bathrooms dirty and filthy c) Not making themselves available to the customers d) Behaving in arrogant and dismissive manner toward customers e) Wearing trousers with the waist so low to show their underwear d) wearing trousers with crotches hanging near their knees as if they are making yogurt in there. I can go on but for the sake of brevity I will stop here. One more comment. To be fair to Walmart, that location is ghetto. Crenshaw is a gang ridden, filthy, poverty stricken locality that consists primarily of African Americans, Hispanics, and other minorities. I bring up this issue for this reason: just in case the Walmart corporate management in charge of this location is not aware, there are many dignified African American, Hispanic, and other minority families who live in Crenshaw as well. However, based on the demands of the exigencies of their socio-economic and familial lives, they cannot relocate from this area. Therefor it behooves Walmart, a corporation with a staggering $32.64 billion gross profits in the first quarter of 2012, to do the following: 1. Hire more well trained employees for the branch to provide excellent service. 2. Pay detailed attention to hygiene in the store and in the bathrooms. 3. Be fully stocked at all times. 4. Aim to Create a safe, and welcoming atmosphere for the decent residents of Crenshaw. 5. Keep in mind that chaos, filth, and disrepair, generates chaos, filth, and disrepair by attracting elements who are drawn to chaos, filth, and disrepair. This cycle sustains itself by feeding on itself.
Well-stocked? Yes. Friendly employees? Sure.Nevertheless, there are a few things one can count on consistently at this place that make one's visit a bit of an ordeal. 1. I doubt I have ever approached the entrance without being accosted by an (allegedly) homeless person all but blocking the doorway. They have inexplicably, but perhaps understandably, adopted a drug store as their favorite hangout. Be ye not deceived: there is a fairly large Board and Care doors nearby on Western, so these folks get 3 meals a day and a little "personal spending" dough. That's not what their after; it's more likely beer change they are wringing your guilt for. Some of them should join SAG, such are their skills. Do notice a liquor store sits prominently across the street, so there's the real attraction. 2. Lines at the register. The cashiers are friendly folk with more patience than Job apparently, for it never fails: someone ALWAYS haggles over a coupon, or disputes a price, or must return something as though this habitually gives their life Meaning. Meanwhile, those in line wait... and wait.Take a book... perhaps "War and Peace" would do. 3. Prices of certain items have risen precipitously in but a few years. Does one really wish to spend 9 dollars on laundry detergent?! Even their own brand, once a good deal, has gone way up. Vitamins? Forget it. You could buy an I-Pod instead, just eat more veggies.Nevertheless, the store does try, and they consistently play rather groovy music to shop by. One can whisk about the place singing along to the 5th Dimension or Bee Gees while buying floss. P.S. Apply for the "Wellness Card" if you plan to become a regular. Happy Shopping.
The pharmacy staff is excellent and speedy, hence the 5 stars for expertise and service. The issue is the location: this CVS is on the ground floor of an apartment building catering to students, right across the street from the USC campus. The CVS is the closest place to buy food and, alas, alcohol to campus. The nearest grocery store is about a 1/2 mile + away. This means the store is always packed full of students and the shelves are frequently messy/disorganized. Furthermore, the parking for the building is awful. There is only one entrance and one exit for the garage - for both tenants and customers - so sometimes there can be a giant line to exit the garage. Doesn't help that the parking ticket machine frequently breaks too. While the parking situation and the mobs of clientele aren't CVS's fault, they make this particular location less pleasant to visit.
Introduced to this pharmacy waaaay back when it was 'Mom's' Pharmacy (good then, great now...). When I moved to East L.A. I wanted to use their services again. Before I did I had a dire need to fill several prescriptions from an Emergency Dept visit. I tried the local close typical (Walgreens/etc) and their co-pays/costs were exhorbitant... additionally, it was the end of the month, $$ were tight and so I went to this pharmacy hoping they'd recall my business and bill me. Not only did they do that...their prices were very reasonable and allowed me to bill my ins and then pay my share 'when I could in the next couple of months.' This was the difference between me obtaining my much needed meds and continuing to suffer for more weeks. wOw! I'm a fan.
I bought the Toshiba CIX100 through this company and I was so pleased with them that I decided to share it here. The quality of the work is excellent and the service is amazing. I needed support and assistance after the installation and tech support was available for us whenever I needed it. It looks like this company is doing its best to assure that the costumer is happy. The only disadvantage is that during my research, prior to the purchase, I found some cheaper companies, but I decided to follow my instincts and purchased from an authorized well established company, and I am very pleased with this decision. Those guys are professional and it worth every dollar.
I have told my friends my family and the local clinic about this place. The store is clean the staff is very nice and knowledgeable. They make you feel like family so your not afraid to open up and ask questions, they deliver your prescriptions to your door for free and it always done with a smile. I transferred all my prescriptions from Walmart to them and I have been worry free since. I'll stay with a neighborhood pharmacy where they no my name as opposed to a Giant Mega Store who gives me attitude a long waiting time and over charge me, no matter how much you think you're saving.
Without Bob's pharmacy, I probably would not be alive. When all insurances were sending me from one place to another and charging me hundreds of dollars, and all the suffering I endured, I found home and health at Bob's Pharmacy. Brenda is a loving and understanding woman. Sandy, ALbert, and Laura, thank you for looking out for me! You're patience will always be appreciated. Bob. Thank you for giving me my life. I would not waste my time going elsewhere. Calling 800-800-DRUG is as easy as it gets!
I have always found United Pharmacy to be outstanding in customer service. If I ever encounter problems regarding my prescriptions, I can count on the pharmacist (Fred) to contact the insurance company right away. He always makes the extra effort to ensure that his customers receive their presciptions without hassel and on time. I have not received the warm, friendly, efficient service at the large pharmacies. It is always a pleasure to return to United Pharmacy for my refills.
