All the beer you need... Eagle Rock Brewery is a hidden gem that deserves your attention. If you're into small-batch, independent, high quality brewing with an underground vibe, this is the place. Located in an industrial, but central area of Eagle Rock, you'll find an easy-going tap room run by the knowledgeable and friendly brewing staff. There's a range of their own beer as well as guest beers from other breweries. If you're unsure of the beers, you can try a flight of their range. Changing food trucks offer a variety of food. Enjoy!
They have my favorite German beer (Flensberger!) and the food was fantastic! I've lived in Germany, so I'm always on the hunt for some good German-e…

The 'Red Lion' is an LA/Silver Lake institution. Good German food and drink with German expats and local Silver Lake/Echo Park bohemians rubbing shoulders and having a good time.It can get mighty crowded on weekends so try and schedule your first visit there for a weeknight or earlier in the day.Almost always an interesting crowd (including the waitresses) and a reliable menu (besides the sausage platter which is a nice treat for drinking parties try the fish and chips, and the steak tartar).Have to recommend for Sunday brunch too.
The drinks are not especially good or cheap and, you better get there early on the weekends before the cool people do around 10pm if you want a spot at the bar. All and all its fun if you don't mind crowded bars with every other dude wearing one of those tough guy leather wrist band watches. Although I went with my own date, I couldn't help but notice my poor single brethren and the poor ratio. What gets this place the four stars is the cool interior. It is very well done and worth a stop if you need one for the road.
This is a family friendly bar/restaurant, great for congregating with friends on a beautiful day. There's a lot of outdoor seating, and while it can get crowded in the evenings, I find that early afternoons are a great time to go. The kids are allowed to run around in the enclosed area and play outdoor games they have on hand for just that purpose. My only quibble is with the food. I would describe it as "adequate" which isn't really the adjective you hope to pair with beer.
Nice place, cool interior with higher ceilings with fireplaces, couches, nooks and crannies. Great for dimly lit conversation. This place has that hipster feel without the hipster attitude. There is a nice little porch area for the smokers in the group. I did notice a line to get in so get their early or enjoy the likes of the sidewalk for a while. That being said, I am glad they limit the number in, it allows for enough room as to not feel claustrophobic.
The best place in the whole dtla area. Everything is "prohibition" themed: cocktail waitresses wear flapper dresses, there are black and white movies playing on the walls, live jazz music . they also have great aerial and burlesque performances. This place is a must! Only 4 stars because they started to charge a cover fee of $10 which is sad. Thursday happy hour includes 25 cents martinis!
Barbrix is a little gem on Hyperion. Specializing in small plates, they will have something to please every palate. Get there early for Oysters on Mondays and make sure you ask your server about the wines on the board. Their patio is enchanted at night time. A great place to take out of town visitors.
Great spot. Pretty decent drink list, friendly bartenders, and on a Thursday night the patio was quiet enough to talk with a friend over good bourbon. Inside was too loud for my tastes, but I know most like it that way. Definitely will come back if I'm in the area again. It was a good find.
Golden Road had a great atmosphere. It's bright inside with long bench tables to sit at or share with strangers. They've got great beer and great food. For strong IPA lovers, The Wolf Among Weeds is a solid choice, for something nice and light, the 329 Lager is a great choice. Check it out!
Great bar in the area. They have homemade ginger beer which makes a great moscow mule and they serve it in a mug like the way it should be served. They also have a nice list of cocktails and the bartenders are friendly and actually know how to mix a drink. Doesn't get too crowded usually.
