The expression Chulada means Great or Wonderful for the people of Mexico. When we see a beautiful object or scene, or taste a delicious flavor, Chulada is commonly used to express our appreciation. Here at Chulada Grill Express our name means Good Food and Great Taste. Come experience the best Oaxacan food and authentic southern Mexican food restaurant in Los Angeles. Dine in our friendly environment, order food to-go, or have it delivered. We look forward to seeing you. Wonderful Mexican Food

This place is absolutely wonderful. The service is excellent and you can tell they really take pride in their food by their careful preparation of fresh ingredients. I go here every few weeks and am never disappointed. I have only had their burritos (because they are just that good) and their special chulada sauce on the deluxe versions are hard to pass up.

amazing burritos and homemade chips..

this is one of my favorite spots in Los Angeles.. I don't live anywhere near Chulada Grill, but have managed to swing by about once a week for the past few years since.

they recently changed the restaurant format from a sitdown restaurant to something more like a Baja Fresh where you order at the counter, and the food is brought to you. the table service generally wasn't the best, and I'm guessing this was their solution.

the ambiance reminds me of a mom and pop version of Baja Fresh.. very brightly lit and sterile.. but that's not the draw.. it's the food. most things on the menu are exceptional, very fresh ingredients.. tastefully seasoned.. and perfectly cooked.

their homemade tortilla chips and salsas are above par..
I highly recommend their Enchalada Deluxe burrito with steak.. covered in mole sauce and cheese, topped with avocado.. it's amazing. Their chicken hard taco plate is also fantastic.

lousy management

My fiance and I had a bad experience here. There was a questionable charge on our bill and when we asked about it we were basically told by the manager who might very well be the owner, that is was only a small amount that we shouldn't worry about it. I guess he expects people to give away their money to him because his attitude was that of entitlement. It's too bad because we have been to this restaurant before. It is close to our neighborhood. My fiance and I, as well as my family and friends frequent this place place because we like to support neighborhood business. But when an employee/ manager or owner (doesn't matter), representing this business goes out of his way to try to make you feel cheap by saying that when he goes out he drops hundreds of dollars on dinner without looking at the check or questioning it like I had done, it is not a place i am going to go to again OR recommend to anyone. As far as the food goes, nothing special. After all, it wasn't the food that left a bad taste in my mouth.

Great veggie soft tacos

The handmade corn tortillas were delicious, as was the filling of fresh black beans, rice, tomatos, lettuce, cheese and a slice of avocado. The chips and salsa were also very tasty.

Muy Bueno, indeed!!

The unremarkable ambience is made up for by some of the the best authentic, homemade style food in town! The sparklingly clean kithcen produces a wide range of menu items for any taste. Fresh, crunchy chips...and a generous salsa/salad bar accompany plates piled high with very unique and delicious entrees.... This is culinary Mexican food! Again....the ambience is not the draw's the food!
