Provided by CitysearchI always come here when I get bored of just staying in at home. Great music and love the atmosphere.. Great way to get a little stress out of your life form a hard work week.. drinks are flowing and people here are awesome. Good spot to go with friends and let loose!

Provided by CitysearchWas it a mixed cocktail with absinthe or just absinthe straight up?? It's hard to find places that serve that alcohol!
01/23/2009
Provided by Citysearchhave you seen the aftermath from the sundance, absinthe is the new patron! definitely going to smash all the hype and take over in all the music videos...... watch!

Provided by CitysearchTHIS BAR IS AWESOME. ANYBODY WHO SAYS THAT WE ARE A BUNCH OF SNOBS.
WELL...THEY CAN KISS IT .... JASON IS AWESOME AS WELL. THERE'S ALLWAYS THIS YOUNG BLACK GUY THERE TO GREET YOU. ALSO,THERE IS CHICK WHO JUST OOZES WITH APPEAL.
i THINK HER NAME IS AMBER...ALL THE BITCHES HATE ON HER,BECAUSE SHE DOESN'T NEED TO TRY
HARD...LEAVE HER ALONE,SHE'S THE REASON . THE BLACK KID IS ALWAYS THE ONLY BLACK GUY THERE. BUT HE IS UNLIKE OTHER BLACK FOLKS . THERE IS SOMETHING CLASSIC ABOUT THAT GUY WHO ALSO SINGS THE BLUES.
OVERALL...THIS BAR IS AWESOME

Provided by CitysearchThis place is alright. Nothing special really. The door guy is kinda rude and there are some snobby people who think they are all that and more. To the person below: if you're talking about the Amber I'm thinking of I have seen her too. But I don't really see what they big deal about her is, I really don't. She's just another one of those stupid girls who got popular because of having a large network of friends, dating musicians and the way she looks and that's IT. What does she actually do? Does anyone actually know??? OK I know it sounds like I'm hating now but I just don't like her. I would say the same about that forbidden chick who is way more popular. So yeah, THAT'S a typical girl there minus the disgusting goth groupies!

Provided by CitysearchThis is a bar you must go to at least once. Beautiful atmosphere along with a lot of beautiful people as well. It seems like most people there are a ""somebody"" - they don't seem to let just anyone in for some reason. I definitely plan on returning!

Provided by CitysearchI finally got the chance to check this place out with a friend a few times and it was pretty cool. Unique....
A different environment and definitely a wide variety of people.
If you go here throughout the week you will more than likely see:
Various Musicians - I've seen the singer from Eagles of Death Metal, Twiggy from Manson, and a few others whose names I can't remember.
Goths - mostly girls that seem to be groupies.
MySpace ""celebrities"" - I saw one popular girl from there (Amber something?) and I couldn't even talk to her. Don't embarrass yourself like I did. There are a lot of beautiful intimidating women that go here for some reason.
Occasional actors.
A lot of other people that you know are ""somebodies"" but can't seem to figure it out.
I would recommend it! Give it a try at least once. You could meet some people you never thought you'd meet....

Provided by CitysearchI used to really like this place but I have quit going recently because of the types of people and the typical Hollywood ""hype"" that surrounds it. There are some real snobs there and yes that includes the ""famous"" people. Last time I was in there Jeordie White/Twiggy from Marilyn Manson was DJing and he seemed pretty cool. However it did get annoying having to watch him constantly flirt with (mostly ugly) girls that barely passed for 18. The place is so small you can't help but be up close and personal. I've also seen a few well-known MySpace girls there (I met one in particular and she was very snotty, but I won't say her name. She's usually there on Wednesday's by the way ;) ) - if that counts for anything. The door guy is cool but he acts like it's the only great bar in town and supposedly not everyone is allowed in - umm ok. The atmosphere is overall decent but as I said it is very crowded most nights...

Provided by CitysearchI went in there Thursday night with a friend to talk over martinis. The doorman was very friendly, we sat down in a nearly empty bar. There was one other small group on the other end of the room. It is a dimly lit dive bar with the glass candles on each table. The martini was near perfect- vodka martini dirty with the thin layer of ice on top. The bartender was kind, everyone was kind.
My only beef is the music is loud and inconsistent. It would be roaring one second (with 5 people in the bar) and then lowered to a decent audibility and then fluctuate again to roaring for about an hour it went up and down during the same song. It was aggravating.
I hear its packed on the weekends, maybe I wouldn't care then.

Provided by CitysearchUsed to go to the bar often to listen to great 80's music and be around a good crowd. But being robbed at gun point right outside the bar made me never return. It is not in a good area.

Provided by CitysearchA bit far from the center of the nightlife activities but a cool place for a romantic evening. You might meet someone... you'll never know...

Provided by CitysearchI've been hopping among all the recommended ""it"" bars and so far, this one has left the best impression. The drink prices aren't *that* bad and the outdoor smoking alley is tight. The doorman is totally sweet.

Provided by CitysearchEveryone was raving about this neighborhood bar, so I decided to check it out. Went on a week night and was very disappointed. The drinks were expensive for what should be just a little dive bar in East Hollywood. The staff was pretty horrible- from a sleezy pretentious door guy to snotty bartender. There was no where to sit and the whole bar smelled a little like a farm house. The only draw was that the DJ was pretty good. But I'm definately NOT planning on going back.

Provided by Citysearchthis is a great spot. overall, i think its one of the best bars in LA. the decor is spot on.
our drinks were stiff, super easy to just walk in and meet friends. perfect size and the music is great. not trendy, good mix of funky people....this place rocks!

Provided by Citysearchthis is a little gem of a bar....the bartenders pour great drinks and the place it totally cool. moved here from NY and so happy to find a real bar without a velvet rope. the drinks are great the vibe is perfect. kudos to the owners, they did a great job.

Provided by CitysearchI liked the place. It's too bad it was WAY TOO crowded to appreciate the looks of the place. No cover. I have to say, lots of beautiful women, it's trendy, music is great (most of the time it was the '80's!) Parking is not too bad $5 right next door in a lot. Drink are HOOKED up but pricey. The only downfall is the amount of people and it does get stuffy!

Provided by CitysearchAfter being charged $75 for 5 drinks... yeah, that's what I said... I decided this place was just another LA bar claiming to be neighborhood but striving to be trendy. Oh, and here's a hint: ladies, beware of one of the two owners - he owns a bar for a reason.
