I've been to this cleaners before and had some so-so experiences. I've also known they were over priced by any standard. However I just purchased three expensive linen shirts and felt they needed extra care. I had them clean one shirt then picked it up. She told me it would be $21.00. I went nuts. $21.00 to clean a shirt? I asked how much to clean a suit and she told me $23.00. $2.00 more! I caused such a scene she ultimately gave me 30% off which was still holding me up. These people are gonifs and I am done.

Left a dress here to be cleaned, they took 3 weeks longer than they said they would and did a preservation service despite my express request that they NOT do this on several occasions. Had to make 5 trips back to the store before it was ""ready"" and then they wanted $650?!?! and would not give up dress until we paid. CEO/manager was hostile and threatening. Worst business I've ever encountered, hands down. I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy. And at the end of it all, the dress is still stained and they don't care. If you want to pay 6x times the going rate to feel like hot stuff, have fun, but otherwise, steer clear of this place. It's a total rip-off.

You will not want to go anywhere else after you try Sterling, especially for those of you with really expensive clothes. I'm talkin' the Prada, the Gucci, the Hugo Boss, etc. This is the best quality you'll ever get. Sure, it's a bit pricey, but come on. If you're going to spend $5000 on a suit, what's $30 to get it cleaned. They take competitor coupons as well. It's worth it!!!!
I am shocked at all the bad reviews. Sterling is the best cleaners in town. They always have my clothes ready on time, and everyone is always so friendly. I don't trust any other cleaners with my clothes. I don't think there's anything they can't clean. They even have this wetcleaning service that gets out any stain you can think of, like red wine.
They have an amazing alterations department. I tell you that tailor can work miracles. He can get things out in less than week, even a gown. He does the best work!
For those of you complaining about Sterling prices, I get you (...sort of...) If you don't care about the quality of cleaning and your clothes aren't important to you, then by all means vent. But, for those of you who pay $1000 for a shirt, why are you complaining for paying $15 to clean it. All my clothes are expensive. Why would I risk it getting ruined at a measely cleaners when I can go to Sterling where I trust that they will do it right. They have the best quality of work and the service is wonderful. I will not go anywhere else as long as Sterling is around.
The alteration department at Sterling is amazing. I take alll my jeans here to get them shortened with a European hem. They are very professional and show that they really care about my garments. The staff is always very helpful, and they accomodate my needs. The drycleaning is really good quality as well, and they are environmentally safe.
I needed my Prada suit cleaned very well because I was going to wear it to my engagement party. I had been hearing good things about Sterling, but never actually tried it. I was amazed at how beautiful of a place it was. I had never seen a cleaners so clean and upscale. The customer service there was great. Everyone was so nice. The clerk was very helpful and she explained to me how they were going to care for my suit and that they where 100% environmentally-safe. I really felt like I could trust them with my expensive suit. When I picked it up, it was better than what I expected. I will definitely be a regular customer. Next time I will also try their alterations department.

If you like to take good care of your clothes, then this is the best place to go. It is worth the money! Sterling has the best quality of service and they're environmentally friendly. On top of that, their customer service is outstanding. They always take good care of me even when I need same day service. I had an evening event to go to, and I got a stain on my expensive Valentino gown that morning. I rushed over to Sterling and they had my dress looking like new by the end of the day. They're awesome!

The first time I went to Sterling, I was in a rush to get my suit cleaned for a wedding I was going to in Hawaii, within an hour, they were done. I'm now a regular, and use their services many times a month. Some say that they are very expensive, but it is worth every penny. Not only do they provide fast and high quality service, they are also environmentally friendly.

I was recommended to this place when I bought my designer suit at Armani. I always had problems with my other two cleaners (Fazio and Faultline). When I walked in to Sterling Cleaners I was amazed at how clean and nice a cleaners can be. They were very nice when greeting me and took the time to explain their service and how they are 100% environmentally safe. They even showed me their alteration department in case I need anything in the future. It was like a designer boutique.
I was even more impressed when I got my items back. Not one stain on it and the pressing was perfect. They even packaged it in a way to preserve the great pressing they had done. The price was higher than some other cleaners but the quality and service was totally worth every penny. If you want great quality and you are willing to pay for it, than this should be your cleaners.
I am now a regular customer for life.
I have never seen such beautiful cleaners. I felt like I had walked into a designer boutique. The place was clean and the help was very professional. I felt very comfortable giving them my designer labels to clean. When I came to pick up the clothes I was even more impressed. Not only was everything perfectly clean, but they were packaged in way that kept the clothes perfectly pressed even after I through them in the trunk and got them home. The prices were high but I expected that with the kind of quality they give. All this and they are non toxic and environmentally safe. They even gave me a recycling box to take home for my hangers. All an all it was a great experience. I would highly recommend them.

This place is a total rip off. I paid $12 for a blouse and $10 for a skirt with no knowledge of the high prices until after they rang me up. They had NO prices listed and when I asked to see the price list after I was rung up, the lady pulled an 11x14 paper with tiny writing from behind the counter. You can't even see it from the cash register. Unlike others, I did not even get a 1st time customer discount. This place is a rip off. Go to Dry Clean Express instead...its a block north on Overland and $4 an item for the same job.

This place is unbelievably expensive. I like other reviewers balked at the price and was immediately given a 20% discount for being a new customer. $12 for a blouse and $10+ for a pair of pants. When I dropped off my clothes the inside seemed fairly clean and the woman who helped me was friendly enough, but when I picked them up there was a distinct odor like a kitty litter box and the girl that checked me out was unfriendly. For those prices I at least expect stellar service.

They wanted $26 to clean a t-shirt dress. When I protested, they gave me 20 % off. How generous - that's still $21 TO CLEAN A T-SHIRT!
Bottom line - take your super expensive, rare garments here for careful cleaning, because they do fine work, but send everything elsse to a Flair or Carriage Trade. It is really, stupidly expensive. Ask to see their price list. Most of your clothing costs about half what they wat to clean it. It's just not worth it.

A total nightmare. There is no reason anyone should use this place, ever.
I walked in off the street and decided to give it a try because it was conveniently located and (allegedly) offered environmentally-friendly dry cleaning. One by one, I placed my items on the counter and asked for price quotes. The prices I was quoted were astronomical, but I was in a hurry and willing to pay a little more for eco-friendly services. When I came to pick up my clothes, I was overbilled (even above the ridiculous prices I'd been quoted before) by more than a third (to the tune of $30). When I brought this to the attention of the manager (""Mark""), he said he'd ""think about it"" and let me know what he decided when I returned -- because I had to come back to pick up clothes that they had not cleaned that still had stains on them. When I came back again, he claimed it would be fixed, but that he had to get some kind of authorization before he could credit my card. He assured me he'd call, even giving me a specific time (Monday, at 11). He never called. I called several more times to follow up. Several times, I was lied to and could hear people in the background telling the person who answered the phone to tell me the manager wasn't there. Once, an employee who picked up the phone tried to suggest they might give me the money they'd stolen as store credit. After several more calls, it was clear that it wasn't an isolated incident, but a standard practice -- whomever I spoke with, I got the same runaround.
These people are not only liars and thieves--they are shameless about it. If this is how they treat a potential new customer, I can't understand how they stay in business -- they shouldn't. They give new meaning to the phrase ""being taken to the cleaner.""

I just moved to the neighborhood, which as far as I can tell is mostly students and young professionals. So I want to know who can afford this place?! It's not just the cost -- if they want to charge exorbitant fees ($24 to dry clean a dress, $16 for a pair of jeans, etc.), that's their right, and their returning customers' privilege. But they have NO POSTED PRICE LIST and NO FEES ON YOUR TICKET to warn you that you're going to pay through the nose for what is, at best, perfectly average cleaning and service. Bottom line: Sterling has a tarnished reputation, and there is absolutely no reason not to go to one of the many other cleaners in the nabe.

Yes, they are expensive, but not outrageously so with cupons (and they send cupons fairly frequently). I've generally found the staff to be pleasant (amazingly so, since I seem to one of the few customers that doesn't spend their entire drop-off and pick-up time yakking into a cell phone as though the staff doesn't exist). Most importantly, considering they're a dry cleaner, the dry cleaning is ALWAYS impeccibly done. I always get my clothes back in perfect shape--even the ones that I thought weren't salvageable. They rescued a very difficult to clean silk skirt with a wine stain on it that I was almost certain was hopeless. Even if they are a little pricy, it's still cheaper to spend a little more on a dry cleaner I can trust than it is to replace the clothes I'm taking in.
