Clean, efficient, friendly and the best Brazilian I have had in LA. They use hard wax (blue wax goes on soft and they wait until it cools a little to peel it off) and a clean wood stick with each application (no dirty, double-dipping). They use a soft, creamy wax on legs. I recommend Jill but haven't tried anyone else there.
Salon is clean, lots of magazines to read (I didn't have a chance because they didn't keep me waiting), expensive candles and soaps perfect for gift-giving. No metal chairs or raggy old magazines.
Afterwards go next door and try the orange & choc chip scone.

I've experienced lots of froo froo waxing salons. You know these places. They act as though they don't even want you there for too long, and that waxing you is a burden. I'm a cleancut gal, and the salons I've been to have no reason to act like this.
Stark is the nicest, chillest place I've ever been to. The greeters are friendly, and the waxers are experienced. The Brazilian did hurt quite a bit the first time, but not the second, third, etc. The place smella great and has lots of merch to buy, Pricey, but worth it.
Go. You'll be glad you did. Ask for Yani.

Clean, hip, smells good, private room---liked it a lot.
Excellent eyebrow wax and shaping at about half the price of the Beverly Hills brow boutiques. And you know who I mean.... I will return.
Parking can be a bit of a problem. There is two hour non-metered parking on Micheltorena near the school.

I went to Stark a few days ago and when I walked in the door, the girl that greeted me was nice and so was the girl that did my wax. However just because she was nice does not mean she does a good wax job. I went in for a Brazilian and I left in pain and also had some little blue flecks of wax in the area and a few strings of wax on my arm as well. I'm not as angry as the person who wrote the review before me, but rest assured I will NOT be going back. It was NOT the first time I've had a brazilian wax either. I've had plenty of other ones and not even my first one was this painful. I do agree w/ the person before me when they said that it broke hair off and it did take a very long time. She also kept going over the same spots when there were about 2 hairs left. Use tweezers, not hot wax over the same area! I used to go to Wax in West Hollywood, but it was too far. I think I'll deal with the drive because they know what they are doing and you don't leave in pain. I would even consider going to wax poetic even though they are horribly catty there. They just aren't as painful. So all in all the people were nice, but that doesn't make up for the pain. One more thing, they were pretty pricey compared to other places I have gone to .

I echo the sentiment that it's nice to have a place like this in the neighborhood. It was because of this that I've tried out Stark three times. To be honest, I don't agree with the preference for the peeling off wax-especially for bikni lines. I've visited to get my brows done on a few occasions and was underwhelmed. It took longer than other places and the resulting shape wasn't as clean or refined and nothing was put on me to reduce redness. I didn't learn my lesson and went in for a bikini. Granted I'm a hairy lil'beast and voiced my concern because of that fact, but having the wax smeared on then peeled little by little to check on the 'hardness' of it was TORTURE(imagine removing a band aid SLOWLY!). A lot of my hair was simply broke off-not removed by the root, resulting in painful plucking out by the tech...so much so that I was surprised to find all kinds of blue waxy bits STILL all over me afterwards. The wax comes out of the little basin all stringy and it got all over me(my arms and neck) as she dipped and smeared and waited for the tourturous substance to harden. It was a mess. She also had to keep going back over the same spot several times because this wax doesn't grab as good the FIRST time apparently(I'm sure I'LL get the blame for doing something as ridiculous as shaving, but I assure you I let it go jungle for over two weeks). Having to lay down buck nekked from the waist down in a contorted position for a HALF HOUR only added to the terrible experience I had. Nothing to comfort me as I stared up at the 'stark' white ceiling and walls into the uncovered flourescent lights while the SPICE GIRLS and customers conversated up front in the background. Then they presented me with a $50 charge-never asking how I was or how the experience was. My tech was a nice lady, but I think I'll make the trip to the valley for the 'quick rip' next time. It's less traumatic.

I went into the stark waxing salon and was immediately impressed with the clean simple design. Having arrived early, I was able to check out all the great products on offer in the reception... ranging from cool candles to unique jewellery. As I was shown into a really spacious treatment room, my esthetician asked me exactly how I wanted my treatment to be. They used this really great hot wax for the bikini area which not only made the treatment less painful but also neater. I found the esthetician was really thorough and took her time over everything, not only checking that it was even on both sides but also looked to see that nothing had been missed! Definitely the best wax i've had in Los Angeles.

The hard wax and the estetician's technique made this a much less painful way to get waxed. I was very pleased with the results and the price. When I got waxed with the strips, I was sticky and sore for a week. There was no stickiness immediately after, and ver limited tenderness of the skin.
Great experience... I will definitely go back AND refer friends!

Who knew that one could grow to love going to get waxed? Well, now i do. Not only does this place do a fabulous wonderful job, but the atmosphere is wonderful...all the clinicians are kind, warm and perfectionists. I also love how they're open 7 days a week. Once you go, you'll keep going back. It made the place i used to go seem gross and over priced for sloppy quick work.

I'm one of those freckle-skin white girls who turns red and stays there all day after I've gotten my brows done...well, not anymore. After discovering Stark Waxing Studio and their magical wax over in Silverlake, no one will be the wiser to when my eyebrows have been shaped to perfection! The staff is friendly, the ambiance is relaxing and they've got all kinds of goodies to pamper yourself with. Wax on. Wax off.

I passed by this place and took a chance. I hate getting waxed. I hate the drive in to BH or WeHo. I hate the fumes from the manicures. I hate the 7 year old calendar in the cubicle. I walked in and they gave me an appt. right away. I loved it. as much as I can love being waxed. it is like the anti-waxing place. calm, CLEAN, fast, smells nice, and close. cool. go.

I have notoriously sensitive skin, so I am always a little nervous about skin treatments and products. But in an attempt to stay groomed, Im constantly on the hunt for the perfect waxing spot. When I read the great reviews for Silverlakes new Stark Waxing Studio I thought Id give it a try. Boy, was I thrilled. The super clean, sleek but homey design was really comforting, and my esthetician was especially caring. But above and beyond, the WAX, it is great! I dont think Ive ever walked out of a waxing spot without a bright red upper lip and eyelids, but somehow, after Starks special wax and post wax treatment (an oil with hints of lavender and other delicious fragrances), my skin went unscathed. I looked clean, pretty and ready to go out in public with a fresh glowing face that was a first! I love this place. Oh, and not to forget, the products and jewelry she sells are great--a perfect place to shop for birthdays, weddings, and holidays. I look forward to the day Stark Waxing Studio opens in NYC!

First off EVERYONE IS SO NICE!!! and it's such a beautiful space...waxing is not high up on my ""fun things to do list"" but now that Stark Waxing has opened I can go have a good time and just relax. Stark waxing makes you look and feel as if you just went to the spa...I highly recommend Stark Waxing.

Stark Waxing in Silverlake is open an unheard of 7 days a week. They use a hard blue wax for the bikini (no linen strips!) and a cream wax for the legs. Both make for a near painless hair removal experience. The decor, beauty products and jewelry for sale seem to be curated by someone with a subscription to Italian Vogue. It is clean, beautifully modern and staffed by friendly estheticians. With its high quality of service and amazingly convenient location, I will go back to this great salon and recommend it to my friends.

A very clean, modern waxing salon with a low-key style. Stopped in to check it out and was so impressed!! Haven't seen anything like this on the East Side. They sell a bunch of fun pampering products for men and women. I bought some lavender body scrub for me, and some products for my husband. Prices were reasonable for the quality. Both my husband and I loved the products we tried and I fell in LOVE with the lavender line they carry. This is the type of place where I would not only feel comfortable getting a bikini wax, but I'd trust them with my eyebrows....which says a lot. While I was shopping, a girl went in and came out of having her eyebrows done and they looked great! I will definitely be back for pampering products and waxing!

I am so happy to find Stark Waxing. For years, I've been shlepping over to B.H. everytime I wanted a good wax. I could never find any place on the East Side where I felt comfortable bearing it all. Now--that's changed! I love this place. It's clean and hip; the vibe is very calming and relaxed and they do a great job.
