I have been there 3 times and plan to go again. With each visit, the staff was very friendly and cordial. My first visit was alone and I noticed each time I have been there, there are people who also enjoy doing the same. I think that speaks volumes about the food and service.
Who would go to a bad restaurant alone, right? Their 3 course special is awesome and appropriately portioned so that you are not stuffed when you reach the dessert course, which is delicious as well! The wait staff work as one team and you don't have to look for "your" waiter as they all willingly respond to your request. I have not tried their hot meals to-go because I can't imagine a steak or seafood plate reaching my door in the same searing quality it would reach my table. There's microwaveable fast food for that. I recommend this restaurant for a casual evening in LA with friends. You'll like it!!

Started out with Cobb salad, tasty, but I missed having the classic egg, and deli meats. I had real Kobe beef from Japan before, buttery and very tender. I chose the Spark Kobe burger with cheddar mushrooms, disappointed, didn't come close to the real thing. Also tried the chicken breast, well made and good flavors, fries too greasy.

We've ordered delivery from Spark BevHills 3 times since receiving their menu in the mail. We were excited to find a restaurant nearby that delivered up scale food (what's better than not having to go out Saturday night, and instead have your filet mignon delivered to the door?).
Unfortunately the service and food quality do not qualify as 'up scale' and do not justify their up scale pricing.
First Order, Strike One:
April '09, we ordered 1/2 order of ribs and goat cheese stuffed chicken. I placed the order online, and within 10 minutes, they called to confirm. After an hour, I went to call them to check on the order, and I had 3 missed calls from Spark. The host said there was a problem w/ the card and he needed the info again-someone had typed the card number incorrectly during processing.
Also delivery guy couldn't find the apartment and had been circling around for 25 minutes looking for the building (its an easy building to find, on a corner lot 1/2 mile from the place). When the guy finally came to the door he was belligerent and apathetic, giggling when I asked how long he'd been driving around and if my food was cold. He also had no receipt for me (no receipt for a $65 meal???). I had to fight with the guy to get the copy of the receipt he had!
The food itself was bland and arrived COLD. The ribs were tender and came off the bone with a fork, though very fatty, and the 'garlic mashed potatoes' were made from instant potato flakes (I am a cook, and I know the difference-It's my job).
The goat cheese asparagus chicken & herb rice was bland and tasteless. The portion was tiny, leaving me hungry after finishing the plate. Gourmet food is appropriate to be served in small portions because it is supposed to be extraordinarily complex and filling- This was not gourmet or complex whatsoever.
Second Order, Strike Two:
May '09, we ordered the goat cheese chicken again (for lack of chicken choices on the menu) and NY steak. Again, the food got to us COLD!
The chicken was the same and the steak was overcooked (we'd ordered medium and it came well done). The steak came with a 'smashed potato'- a baked potato that had been smashed with a fork. No spices, no flavor, etc...And not enough gravy came with the steak to dress the potato. (At least it was a real potato) In all, the steak, chicken and their accompaniments were bland.
Third Order, Strike Three:
We had an out of town guest, and decided to order again from Spark. COLD food, again!
This time I again ordered ribs, filet mingon and our guest had a Cheeseburger. The ribs were the same, but, the steak was grossly UNDER cooked this time (ordered medium, and it came to us rare) and there was no smashed potato with the steak this time- It was more potato buds. The cheeseburger, our guest claimed, was no better that a Fatburger.
Our bill, was over $85 for a burger, a steak dinner, and ribs.
We've had 2 rounds with Spark, and won't be ordering again. I'd recommend skipping Spark, or seriously lowering your expectations.

We decided to try Spark last night for dinner, enticed by a promotional mailing with a $20 off gift card (when signing up for their diner club). I hadn't been to this restaurant since it was Orsini many years ago. The reviews here are pretty dated and not overall great, but I thought it was time for a new eye. Decor was very comfortable and wait staff attentive. Started with their popcorn shrimp appetizer (have had MUCH better elsewhere), which was very small pieces of shrimp in a light breading. Wouldn't order again but not horrible. My meal of petite filet came with smashed potatoes and green beans. The potato was excellent (not sure why, it was just a potato) and the green beans perfectly cooked. The steak was not the best I've ever had, but absolutely serviceable with a nice peppercorn sauce. It was also cooked medium as ordered (amazing how many times I've had to send back a steak for improper cooking at some of the best places in town). My husband's pistachio encrusted halibut (which I tasted) was flavorful, light and perfectly cooked. The waiter brought a refill of my club soda without my having to ask which I gave him points for. Didn't indulge in desert, though they sound tempting. Will definitely return to try their ribs and pizza. Spark is conveniently located on the westside, reasonably priced and serves good food.

This place is comfortable, warm and friendly. The food is above average. The chop salad and ribs were the best things we tried. The ambience and service were better than the food. The menu is supposed to be Italian, but there is no pasta other than lasagna which we found sort of strange. You can almost always get a table without a wait which makes it an easy family choice.

I would definitely recommend Spark. The selection of drinks is very impressive, and the food was great: the steak was juicy and tender, the gourmet pizza was thin-crust with just enough cheese and sauce, and the pear salad appetizer with candied walnuts was a fresh start to our meal. Also, the portions are huge! We both took half of our meal home at the end of the night. The wait staff was extremely friendly and attentive, more so than at a lot of places. The best was the lighting and decor, with quirky lamps and high ceilings - it was a very cozy and comfortable place to dine, but still classy and ""nice."" If you're in the area, definitely enjoy a meal at Spark!

I love Bluberri Stoli --- and was ecstatic to see a ""Antioxidant Mojito"" on the drink menu at Spark Woodfire Grill. The ""mojito"" is more like a vodka martini; it has blueberry vodka, pomegranate liquor and lime juice with crushed mint floating on top. It's the best drink I've had in a long time (and I'm a frequent drinker!). The other drinks on the menu sounded tasty as well (lychee martini, anyone?). The service was fantastic, and our waitress checked up on us frequently (but not too often). Unfortunately, the food was not impressive...we had the margherita pizza, caesar salad and grilled shrimp but left feeling a bit disappointed. Perhaps the Kobe beef burger is the way to go...I'll order that the next time!

My family and I USED to frequent the restaurant, but after too many rude and sub-par meals, we have had enough! Not only are you forced to sit the in the small windowless basement dining area because they are too busy with private parties occupying the main dining room, but to hostesses are clueless and rude, on multiple occasions. The food is good, nothing special. Dine at your own risk, and don't expect to be treated well.

I was very excited to try citysearch and find a fun place to eat . i picked this place after seeing their slick website and menu. i called ahead made a reservation and asked about the dress code. they said it was casual attire. i arrived about 10 minutes early and they seated us right away . IN THE BAR ? I don't know any restaurant that seats reservations in a the bar. now i'm cool with that as long as i get good service but it wasn't . the bartender became our waiter . he knew nothing about the menu. and was predisposed to chatting with his waiter buddies about the wager he had placed on the game that was on the tv in the bar. when my wife asked how the fish was prepared he said "" on a grill"" what the hell does that mean. i asked how the steak was cooked he said "" depends on how you order it"" . well after that we still stuck it out figuring that the menu would make up for the service . apparently not. after waiting quite some time our food it arrived cold but the plates were hot suggesting that they had plated up our food some time ago but it sat for a while before they brought it out. maybe because they were watching the football game.i was too hungry to send it back and so was my wife. we ate our food and took a good look around . we wont be back.
they do have great wine though. i wish them the best but we are not coming back. sorry.

So disappointing...The artichoke was horrible, not tender, barely edible. The ribs were ok, tender but no flavor. The green beans and mashed potatoes were bland. The french fries tasted like they came from a frozen bag, were put on a tray and popped in the oven. The best thing about the dinner was the lasagna and that wasn't even that good. Even the wine was bad.
