The truly sad part of this restaurant is that my wife and I encountered some sick customer service while trying to make reservations on the phone. It was so poor we decided not to eat there and haven't eaten there. The Rosa Mexicano absolutely ruined our anniversary celebration.
The management in New York apologized after I contacted them to express my disappointment with their restaurant at LA Live. My wife and I were offered a free tasting menu by the General Manager: it was to be presented personally by the executive chef at no cost to us.
I contacted the management in New York to let them know we will be arriving in the area. They said they will not accommodate the commitment they made to my wife and I and suggested we dine at a different restaurant. How long do you feel this restaurant will last by treating their customers in this barbaric fashion. Further more, there are so many fine choices to dine in the LA Live area that truly deserve and welcome your business.
I'm so enthusiastic that we didn't have to spend a single dime to know what this company is all about.
We will take their suggestion and dine somewhere else. Do you feel you should dine at a different restaurant if the management suggests that their customers do so?

We went here recently during happy hour because there was a one-hour wait just around the corner at Yard House. There were very few people at Rosa, which should have been a message to steer clear.
I really like the special deals usually available during happy hours, but this one is really a joke. I ordered the $5 margarita--a good deal right? It arrived in a tiny glass packed with ice. I am dead serious when I say there were about four ounces of liquid in the glass. Not only does more than a dollar per ounce not feel like a happy hour special, it seems like a ripoff any time of day.
The food is a much better deal, but there are only 3 options on the happy hour ""menu."" The flautas were decent, but the quesadillas (vegetarian--you're not getting chicken on the cheap!) were really terrible. Unfortunately we had ordered 2 of them, feeling confident that a quesadilla was the hardest thing to mess up. They tasted really strongly of anise, something I have never encountered in Mexican food. The flavor was really overwhelming (couldn't taste anything else) and we couldn't even finish them. Ugh, I can taste it right now just writing this!
The service was a little sad. We weren't offered chips and salsa, but were able to snag them from a second passing server. When a third server finally offered a soda refill, she topped off the 1/3 glass of melted ice with more soda. No dumping the water and no new ice. Impressive.
We had decided to give this chain another chance after a disappointing lunch in Atlanta. With me, two strikes and you're out. With all of the excellent Mexican fare in LA (most at half the price), you can't waste time here.
